The paper is not 7″ wide. It’s 6″ wide from the perforated line, and it’s 6 3/4″ of the whole paper. The 7″ is the size of the hardcover. That’s my only gripe, but that 1″, which makes a difference for what I wanted. Good for watercolor, it doesn’t bleed. I made a puddle of water with #2 brush and dotted it with a colored brush pen. Yes, it warps like most papers do if you don’t stretch it. The texture absorbs the pigment well.

Did not send item that was pictured! Received a lower quality sketchbook, worth half the price, with a blue paper cover not hard bound black.

I tried many sketchbooks back in the day when I was an art student who worked part time at an art supply store. I still procure art supplies and have to say the Canson Mix Media Art Book is by far one of my favorites. I had purchased this particular item before from a big box but was so glad to find it offered at a good price on Amazon.

The cover is thick and durable and can take a lot of travel and wear during sketching stints. You can count on the pages staying in place as it fits easily in an art bag or briefcase and works great for all kinds of situations. It’s also the perfect size for storing on a shelf. It has a flawless wire binding that’s tough and never budges. No worry about errant wires or papers getting caught when opening. This book keeps on working.

The acid-free paper is a thick stock — excellent if you want to archive your art. The paper is perforated for detachment and is of high quality, making it a good choice if you intend to sell your art. The surface accommodates graphite and colored pencil and can stand up to a lot of rendering and erasing and even some blending. You can use markers on it as well.

I highly recommend this art book for professional use. It would also be a good choice for a serious art student who wants to use it for portfolio purposes or archive artwork for future reference.

this had such a high overall rating, and several really positive comments from people using it with watercolors, better than sketchbooks specifically containing “watercolor” paper, that I thought I’d try it out. so i’m exclusively using it for watercolors, though nothing involved — for practice, watercolor “sketches”, testing out ideas, that sort of thing. but the paper buckles quite easily, with just a simple wash, and pills fairly easily when i’ve been trying wet blending techniques. ah well. sounds like this works better for someone working truly in mixed media, with maybe just a bit of watercolor added in.

Purchased this based on positive reviews, and our great luck with other Canson sketchbooks, for my daughter’s HS mixed media art class. The quality of paper is fantastic, and it has enough tooth to not smear her shading or charcoal work. She likes it a lot.

I like the “rough” one side, “Smooth” the other notion, but in truth the difference is slight. I mostly use technical pens and the paper performed well, even on the rough side, with little or no shredding. With water colour and brushed ink it does not distort nor show through on the other side which is good if, like me, you like to use both sides. I think it’s a little over-priced but then it’s hard to find this weight of paper is a spiral bound format…

I go thru sketchbooks like crazy! These hold up well to watercolor washes, gouache, pens, markers, water color pencils, and anything else I can throw at them. I also like the hard cover and spiral binding so I can lay them flat if I like.

This is a very nice paper to use for drawing, watercolor and mix media when you can’t afford the really the experience/professional quality paper. It is heavy and has just enough tooth for watercolor, acrylic paints, drawing or what ever your heart desires. Having said that, I am no Michael Angelo or professional artist. I haven’t tried using oils on it either. I have used it for drawing with pencils, dual tip color pens along side watercolors and collage. It holds up beautifully.
The pad comes with 40, 138 lb weight sheets you can use both sides of this paper without worrying about colored markers bleeding through, a nicely finished black spiral spine and a heavy thick cover on both front and back. I have even cut sheets up for making book marks and using a hole punch to add pretty ribbons and even made a baby mobile with this paper being mindful of choking hazards for little ones. I have painted and glued beads, buttons feathers and paints etc. and this paper works beautifully. It is a heavy weight French paper and fun to work and create with.
I am in love with Arteza’s 30 Premium watercolor sheet pads but short of that this is my paper of choice until I get good enough to only use the really expensive paper.
It travels very well and the cover and back are sturdy enough to protect your artwork. The cover and back seem to be made of quality cardboard, covered with a textured, almost fabric quality to it.
I mostly use the 9 x 12 inch pads but it comes in a smaller size. I prefer the larger size as it gives me the freedom to create larger paintings and I can always cut it with a great German paper cutter I bought through Amazon.
I haven’t experienced any yellowing or discoloring and as I said before it’s a heavyweight French paper for both wet or dry media. I am assuming it is acid free but don’t quote me on that.
It’s fun to work with and you can experiment with it without breaking the bank.
I love this and miss Arteza’s Premiun watercolor paper pads that is acid free and is cold pressed. I don’t know if this beautiful Canson pad of paper is cold pressed. I’m still learning but each of these pads has different qualities for to offer.
It is a great buy, especially if you are a student, just having fun, experimenting and creating. I do think this pad of paper it is too nice for children who are just playing or coloring . Get them a good sketching pad.
You are pretty much limited by your imagination.
Enjoy! This is a really nice pad of paper with infinite possibilities!

I brought this book to use for my GCSE art class as I had finished my first book it’s a lot smaller then I expected but I like it a lot and I will still use it but it’s my fault for not measuring what it would be

Great for left handed people. Hard to find a good mix media art pad with binding on the top.
