Not as easy as I thought it would beThis was a Christmas gift for a pretty self-sufficient eight year old. Her mother thought she would be able to use it to make treats for the family by herself, but it’s harder than it looks. It needed 100% adult participation. She made the recipe given in the booklet (which is delicious) no problem, but then filling the little cups with just the right amount of batter, and doing so quickly, so they would all be filled at once, without getting herself burned, was pretty hard. The adult helping her ended up doing all of it. And getting them out without burning yourself or scratching the pan was hard too. Picture holding your arm close over an electric stove for the length of time it takes to fill twelve cupcakes. Ouch.. The directions are limited. It doesn’t tell how full to fill the cups or how long to cook them! I think it says cook until done, but like a waffle, if you open it too soon it will stick. Basically we found after several batches that you cook until the pan starts smoking but doesn’t smell burned. I guess that would sound weird if they put it in the directions so they give no clues.

nice! just burning problems. en/spwell! the product is really nice but i have a burning problem with the mini cakes, it says around 15-20 min of cooking idk, and around 3min i have to open it and let it like that cause they start to burn on the top o.O, idk if its me or the machine. the machine is great, it cooks cute mini cakes i put some colors on the preparation and they got pink, purple, hahaha so nice! and i prepared with chocolate too, i let “open” and they got really cute, well cooked n__nEl producto es muy bueno pero se queman, en las instrucciones aparece que de 15 a 20 min, pero a los 3 minutos por ahí levanto la tapa y las dejo cocinar asi porque sino se me queman en el tope S=, no se si es que estoy haciendo algo mal yo o es la máquina que calienta demasiado, pero quitando esa cosita es muy buena, las mini cakes quedan muy bonitas.

It’s all right, I guessI bought this appliance to have some fun with my grandchildren. I didn’t use a box cake recipe, and that may have had something to do with the quality of the cakes. Instead I used my own pound cake recipe and the cakes did not cook evenly and most were burned at the bottom. Also there’s no way to tell when the cakes are done, so I have to guess at the time. My grandchildren didn’t like the cakes when they were done so I guess the fun was making them. But you have to be careful with this appliance because the machine gets very hot and could be dangerous for impatient children.

Exceeded my expectations!I rely heavily on reviews before purchasing products, so I was hesitant to buy it without knowing how others liked it. I was glad I took the chance! I need to make mini cupcakes and mini brownies for my Chocolatier business and my mini “non-stick” muffin pan let me down once too many times. It was out of desperation when I ordered the Sunbeam Mini Cake Maker. The first time I used it, I took my time filling the wells and noticed that it started cooking right away. Some were darker than others because of this, but they were not burnt. I waited for the light to turn on and when it did, I was happily surprised! Not only did they come out without sticking at all, they all have a beautiful cake shape to them – they are adorable! They cook so quickly and with ease that I bought muffin mixes and more cake mixes. It saves so much time – I think it was only 5-8 minutes, if that! I trusted the light to come on and it was very accurate. I made mini muffins the next day. Baking is so much easier now.My only advice is too fill the wells quickly and don’t overfill. Cleanup was easy – I just wiped out the wells with a wet washcloth. I wish the plug wire tied up somewhere, like some other small appliances do, but it’s no big deal to me. I highly recommend the Sunbeam Mini Cake Maker!

Great tiny cakes!Just got this the other day and decided to make my first attempt at these little cute cakes. When I took it out of the box, I felt the looks were deceiving. It is much sturdier and heavier than you would think. I made up a box of standard vanilla cake mix, poured it into my batter pourer and began dispensing cake batter into each little well. Almost right to the rim. It didn’t take long at all, nothing like the 32-35 minutes for a 13X9 cake. I barely had time to clean the kitchen when each batch was finished. The vanilla cake came out golden brown. Really pretty too. The kids and I iced them and added sprinkles. And ate some non-decorated cakes while doing so. They came out light and fluffy and tasted better than a cupcake. Not much of a cupcakes eater because I hate the messy icing tops and the cake always seems to crumble. But these little flat cake bites are easy to frost, easy to bite into and taste just as delicious. Practically all in one bite. I’m making brownies with it next. Can’t wait. This can easily 4 dozen cakes with one standard box.Well, I left my computer an hour without posting, so….after I cooled the cakes coated in candy melt and sprinkles, took them out and the family devoured them. Now my husband wants me to make peanut butter cakes! Sounds good to me!

I just received it yesterday and was disappointed because the real size and shape of the “cakes” …I just received it yesterday and was disappointed because the real size and shape of the “cakes” where not described properly. I had expected something like a muffin but its flat, more like a cookie. To bad they did not show that in a popper image. But well, still could be nice. But it came with NO instruction at all, NO recipes (as it says on the box) . NOTHING. I will have to look for a recipe, but still am missing the instructions. I will try, if it doesn’t work out – back it goes!
