Great novelty machineI purchased this cake pop maker after trying Sunbeam’s Whoopie Pie Maker. It appears Sunbeam makes this product. I was so impressed with the pie maker that I thought I’d try this one. It is an excellent cake pop maker. It is made of a heavy material. It appears the cooking surface it nonstick metal and the base is metal. It has a power light and ready light on top. There’s no power button, simply plug it in. When it’s sufficiently heated, the ready light comes on. This makes 8 cake pops at a time. Make sure to spray the cooking surface with some nonstick spray. You fill the cavity, close, and wait about five minutes. Cake pops were done to perfection. This machine wipes clean. I tried another brand of cake pop maker which made 12 cake pops at a go. These were small and not as attractive as the Tasty Treats. I would recommend this product if you are into novelty baked goods. You can use box mixes or home cake recipes. I prefer making donut holes to cake pops. I bought this primarily for my 10 year old daughter who is too advanced for an easy bake but likes something more manageable than the kitchen oven. Now getting these to stay on the stick and dipping them is another story.

Pretty GoodWhen I first used it I used cake mix and it worked well for the first few batches. They came out round and very nice. Then it started getting extremely hot and the steam hurt my hand every time I opened it. Then the cake wasn’t fully becoming a ball, the top didn’t dome up. Then there was a horrible smell, almost like a chemical smell. It gave me and everyone in my house a headache so I had to stop using it. I only used it once after that to make doughnut holes. If you really want it you basically have to just get use to using it. Don’t leave it on for too long because it wont become a full circle after a few times, the smell will kill your head and the steam will burn your hand. I’m not trying to bash this brand because I got a mini cupcake maker like this for Christmas and it too hurts my hand but there is no smell and the cupcakes do rise.

Not worth the money. If I had it to do over I would have just rolled the cake balls. I am an avid dessert maker and this by far is a waste. You have to cool between batches so others will not burn. And the shape Is so not the way a cake ball should look.
