Kalita Wave Paper Coffee Filters I Larger Size 185 I 100 Count I Specially Pour Over Dripper I Made in Japan, Large, White
- PULLS THE PERFECT CUP: The pantented wave design reduces contact between the brewing space and the filter itself for a more balanced extraction and a flavorful, full-bodied cup of coffee every time. The design of the filters work in perfect harmony with Kalita Wave drippers to create a pool of water on top of the coffee bed that can help control agitation, helping maintain a uniform extraction without too much turbulation (which could lead to over extraction).
- PERFECT FOR BEGINNERS AND PROFESSIONALS: You’ll find the Kalita Wave pour over coffee filters used in the world’s top specialty cafes and professional coffee-making competitions. But they are also the perfect filters for pour-over beginners. Cone filters require perfect grinds and pouring technique in order to prevent stalling and over-extraction. The wave filter’s flat bottom, on the other hand, maintains a wide and even coffee bed, allowing water to permeate and leave the filter evenly.
- PREMIUM CONSTRUCTION: Made in Japan out premium thick paper stock. Our Kalita Wave 185 filters are oxygen bleached for environmental sustainability and to maintain your coffee’s perfect balanced taste.
- SPECIALLY MADE FOR KALITA WAVE POUR-OVER DRIPPERS: For best results use your Kalita Wave filters with the same size Kalita Wave dripper in either glass, ceramic or stainless steel.
- SATISFACTION : Kalita is a family-owned Japanese compaany that adheres to the highest standards of manufacturing excellence. Contact us with any problems and we will make things right.

Can’t beat Kalita 185I love these filters for their ease of use and strong holding quality, meaning they retain the shape even after pre-rinsing them with water. I do many pour-overs with these filters and it is very important that the filters retain their shape as you brew.I also find these a perfect fit for my ratio six brewer, which again holds the shape of the brewer and does not spill any coffee through the sides. I always keep these in stock as no other filter beats them at this price.

Great filters for a great pour over. There’s a few great things about these filters:1. They leave no sludge, whatsoever.2. They’re thinner & smaller than chemex so they consume less water and go far quicker.3. Since they’re pleated (waves) they don’t sit against the coffee maker and drop the temperature as much.In my experience, with 850ml of water over 40g of coffee I only lose about 50ml of water with these. Comparatively, with a chemex, I lose close too 100ml for the same amount of grounds because their filters are probably 3x as thick and more than twice as large, unnecessarily.

They keep coffee grounds out of your coffeeIf you are one of those people who don’t like coffee grounds in your coffee, than these are for you. They don’t come with instructions, so I will include here. Place coffee grounds into the filters. Pour water onto the coffee grounds. There you have it. Coffee with no grounds.

Larger Basket-Type Coffee FiltersI do not have to worry about coffee grinds overflowing during pour-overs with this size filter. It works so much better for me than the 155 size.

Stick them in a V60, Wave not neededI don’t own a Kalita Wave, I will admit. They’re pretty expensive and don’t have a plastic version, which I prefer for heat retention reasons (and for those people who hate the idea of plastic cones… why? It’s not like you’re going to be throwing it away, so waste isn’t an issue). But these make *excellent* V60 filters. The flat base is very strong and stands up to water flow, and creates a fair bit of resistance, leading to water more evenly coating the grounds and ensuring a more consistent brew. Frankly, with how well these work in a V60, I’m not sure I even feel the need to get a Kalita Wave anymore, as it feels like I’m getting the consistency benefits without having to shell out for an expensive cone. Heavily recommended for anyone that owns a V60 and wants a more consistent brewing option.

They’re suddenly smaller! I feel cheated.Until now, I have been happily using the Kalita wave replacement filters in my stainless steel Kalita Wave Dipper. They should have been the same as always, since I routinely just click the reorder button in my order history whenever I need more. However, for the first time, the filters do not come up to the top edge of the dripper. They are about 1/4″ too short, so there isn’t enough room for a full pour. I’m guessing Kalita is trying to save money and and hoping we don’t notice. Those tiny differences would really add up over millions of filters. Unfortunately, I didn’t open my new package until one day past the allowed return date, so I’m stuck with 300 of them. Next time I’ll try a different brand; Amazon offers alternatives with the same design. I’m not dis-recommending them, but be aware of what you’re getting!
