silicon gasket fits perfectly, I would assume based on the reviews in my experience that this is a defective batch product, The seller offered on replacement and then I am returning it today, it seems everyone who bought this last year made out OK and that the rest of us put it on and within one or two Attempts at making coffee wasted a bunch of coffee while The gaskets inferior material failed to allow the coffee to be contained within, It’d be good if the Vanderwood contact people and let them know this

This solved the leak issue and I am finally able to use my machine without a blowout. I had previously bought one from the Breville store at Amazon, but that one was less sturdy and just a mm too big. That mm makes a big difference on this machine. If you have an older Breville Cafe Roma ESP8XL, and need a gasket, this one works!
