I knew that I’d been buying great coffee – but until last weekend I didn’t know how good it was because I had to upgrade my coffee maker. My Mr. Coffee machine, which I believed had always worked great – suffered a small inconvenience – I broke the carafe and I found out the carafe is irreplaceable. We’ll long story short, thank God I broke it and that it was irreplaceable, because that meant I needed a new coffee machine – and that’s the best thing that has happened to my mornings.

Being completely honest, I was skeptical when my wife insisted we get this. I accidentally broke the last coffeemaker’s carafe and it was going to be +$30 to replace just that, so…
There is no ‘blending power’ rating here (this form asked for one) because this model doesn’t have a blender, we didn’t want one. This design is great and easy to use. I like the removable water tank, much easier than pouring water from the carafe down the back of the old coffeemaker trying to fill the interior reservoir. The included wore mesh filter is sturdy, easy to dump out and clean, and saves money on paper filters. I like the ‘rich’ setting, slightly stronger than the ‘normal’ mode. (psst, if you like sugar in your coffee, mix it in with the grinds in the filter.. and if you like iced coffee, pour leftover coffee into an ice tray and use coffee cubes so your iced coffee won’t get watered down)
Finally, we started using the “Ninja CE251 Programmable Brewer, with 12-cup Glass Carafe” (in case they change/update models since my order) this month, Nov.2022, and will post an update if something goes wrong, malfunctions, etc. Sorry, I won’t think to update this unless something goes sideways.

This coffee maker is nearly perfect, but mine only lasted about 16 months. Fortunately I purchased the 4 yr protection plan along with it. If you factor that additional cost in, it’s still a great deal. I liked it enough I’m still giving 4 stars even though it quit working. (since it was a really painless process to get refunded for the original, I’m buying another today) It would be an easy 5 stars if it lasted a bit longer
Pros:
* Carafe is virtually spill proof
* “Keep warm” feature has adjustable time up to 4 hours
* Removable water tank is great if (like me) you just use tap water. You can sit it in the sink and let it fill while you multi task and get the coffee in, etc
* Even if you don’t want to use the sink, the large removable lid on the water tank makes for super easy filling
* built in coffee scoop is nifty if it’s the proper size for you
* overall looks nice and reasonable quality
Cons:
There’s really just one thing I didn’t love about it..
* the buttons are stiff enough when pressing that you can’t easily use one hand as you’ll likely end up pushing the entire coffee maker backwards as you press. I find myself having to hold the top of the coffee maker to secure it as I press the buttons. This may just be my individual unit, or maybe my counter is slicker than most.
Obviously, the fact that it only lasted a few months past the manufacturers warranty is also a con, but again, if you factor in another $10 or so for the 4 yr plan, it’s still a good coffee maker.

I’ve always bought super cheap coffee makers
and as expected, they would last for several months, maybe a year. But I figured coffee is coffee so why spend a lot of money? When the last one quit working, I decided to finally upgrade. I CANNOT believe the difference!! Perfect cup of coffee. This machine is simple to use, very straightforward instructions. I haven’t descaled it yet but from what I read in the manual, that’s an easy process as well. It looks great on my counter and I couldn’t be happier. I did spend the extra $9.99 for the protection plan which gives me peace of mind. Ninja just gained another loyal customer. I will never go back to a Walmart/Dollar Store brand machine.

The Good news…I love this coffee pot, easy to use, flexible settings and makes a good cup of coffee…I like it so much, I just ordered my second one!
The Bad news…it only lasted 27 months, just over two years. Thankfully we were home when it started beeping and smelled of burning electricity!!! Scary!! I quickly unplugged it..its definitely dead, I wouldn’t even attempt to plug it back in, I can still smell the burning electric in my house!!
After reading another poster’s review, I took their advice and this time I added the four warranty.
Im still a little bit concerned about the what if…what if we weren’t home to unplug it. I would hope my circuit breaker would pop. I would love to hear back from anyone else that has had a similar experience. I can always send it back if I hear there is more of a problem than I am aware of.

The Ninja is a great drip coffee maker. It does have a couple of design faults that are annoying:
1) It’s a counter top model, but the basket needs to be lifted out so although it fits nicely under the upper cabinets, you need to move it out to fill the basket. Suggest they change the design so the basket swings out.
2) The scoop that comes with the unit has a little storage area on the side, but it doesn’t stay on the hanger, it should click in place, but doesn’t.
