Excellent and safe electric kettle !We love this electric kettle!! Our old electric kettle broke down, it wasn’t an easy task to find a new kettle. After 3 tries with other kettles which we returned because of different problems with products, I choose Zwilling product even though it was over my wife’s budget. I choose the simple model with no temperature controls and that was the best $$ spent. This kettle is the safest electric kettle, even it’s body is real cool to touch when water boils. It’s safe for children or elderly.Water boils quickly about 2 to 4 minutes depending on how much you fill. There is NO plastic parts that touch water, the removable filter is stainless steel. Some reviewers said that they found rust buildup after use. Not in my case, I had it for more than a month and all I found a bit of calcium buildup after a month. Cleaned it as recommended by manufacturer with vinegar and the stainless steel looks like I just took it out from the box.The kettle is not lightweight, it’s approx. 2.8 pounds. It’s no problem for me, my wife or children but my mother in law has to use two hands due to arthritis.Overall it’s a GREAT PRODUCT! Absence of temperature controls is no problem because we drink mostly black tea. And when I drink green/herbal teas just use a thermometer. Next time will choose temperature control Zwilling.

Works so farI used to have the water heater that kept the water warm all the time and pumps the water out with a touch of two buttons. We wanted to save some electricity and also not have the “special” inner lining of the water heater/pump, I think this one is all stainless steel. Water heats up quickly, the lid and thumb button seem pretty sturdy, its harder to push down with your thumb(maybe I’m weak) but it goes to show you how sturdy they made that button. Like the color we got the gold one.

Functional but bulkyPerformance is great, it heats water quickly, can be set to different temps, has no internal plastic and stays cool on the outside. The negatives: controls are digital touch buttons on a black base…to turn it on, you have to touch and hold just the right spot (unlit) on a black pad, then touch another spot to start it because it doesn’t remember the last temp. The kettle is big and bucket shaped, which I find awkward to handle.Bottom line: good functionality with annoying design quirks

Great product but bad Amazon practiceI received my new kettle today. It looks great and it seems to be working well. But I am really disappointed by the fact that it is clearly not a brand new product from the factory that was shipped to me. Once again (it happened before), Amazon is shipping products that have been returned or whose box has already been open. Since I am paying for a brand new product I am expecting one. At least Amazon should be transparent and sell these at a discount, like Best Buy is doing for instance. I am really tired of this type of practice from Amazon.

Regret my purchaseSince I use my tea kettle every day, I decided to buy a quality kettle that would last for many years. The Zwilling Cool Touch kettle was exactly what I wanted! Since another buyer’s comment had mentioned the possibility of rust developing around the lid, I made sure that I emptied the kettle completely and left the lid up to allow the vapour out and the kettle to dry out after each use. After I used it two times, I noticed little black specks on the inside bottom. I contacted Zwilling and was told that rust can be removed with baking soda and warm water solution/vinegar. I cleaned the kettle as instructed, and the black specks disappeared. However, they were back again after two uses.I contacted Zwilling again and was told that “hard water causes these stains to occur and build up.” The population of Saskatoon is about 337,000. The tapwater has a hardness of approximately 160 mg/L. Looking on the Internet, it says that for water softeners, a good hardness level should not be higher than 120 to 170 mg/ L. Therefore, Saskatoon‘s water hardness is already within the parameters that someone would set on their water softener. In addition, the water that I was using was filtered through my fridge. I do not have any problems in my home with hard water, nor do I know of anyone else who has. If a city with a population of 337,000 had problems with hard water, I think that it would be widely known and the issue would be dealt with.I did not have any black specks appearing on the bottom of my previous metal tea kettle. In their second email, Zwilling told me that I should use the following method to maintain the cleanliness of my kettle:“You can do this by half filling the kettle with water, adding 2 tablespoons of vinegar to each pint, and leaving it for four hours. Then empty the kettle and remove the loosen scale. Rinse and repeat as necessary.”So, for the life of the kettle, I am going to have to purchase vinegar and spend time cleaning the kettle. If the dark specks already appear after two uses, I don’t know what this means in terms of how often I will have to keep cleaning it.I am so disappointed in my purchase. I spent more than I usually would and was expecting a quality product that I could use for many years. I am sorry that I ever purchased this kettle and disappointed that I believed the Zwilling brand name meant quality and backing their product.
