Heavy, thick, finely balanced, seriously crafted weapon to win battles with bone and flesh on your kitchen chopping block. Meat, cartilage, gristle, and probably bone, are no match for this precision-tuned culinary implement of dismemberment. Have no plans to hack whole chickens in half? Or to divide hips and ribs from the spine of a cow? Then don’t waste your money on this premium kitchen tool, even though it’s worth every single penny. If vegetables are the toughest food you are up against then consider the ZWILLING Twin Signature Knife, 7”, Black/Stainless Steel. Also pricey. Also worth the money. Also perfectly suited to the kitchen task. Meat cleavers are not safe to operate while drunk, taking prescription medications that make you drowsy, or if easily distracted. Surgical sutures (for reattaching fingers) sold separately.

Nice sturdy cleaver. Looks like a piece of art. I will be using it mostly to cut chicken, squash and melons. It’s a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Just wish it came with a sheath instead of just a flimsy box.

Zwilling has a great reputation for a reason. This cleaver is a quality knife that is a great addition to any kitchen. I needed a large, heavy, knife for chopping my smoked brisket when we host parties. It worked great and was able to make easy work of the meat due to the weight of the blade. Buy with confidence!

I have been collecting Wusthof Classic knives, one at a time over the last few years and wanted a “meat cleaver” to finish filling my 25 slot Wusthof knife block. Unfortunately, the only Wusthof Classic cleavers available that would fit in my block are the Chinese variety, or their 6” meat cleaver with a straight handle that I don’t care for. Also, the Classic cleaver has no steel bolster, the plastic handle looks like it ends by the blade; Wusthof’s other meat cleavers are too wide. While searching around, I came across this Zwilling Pro 6” meat cleaver and found out it’s only 3” wide, the handle looked very much like the handles on the Classic knives so I decided to give it a try. This Zwilling cleaver is quality German made cutlery, has a steel bolster and the beefy, visible tang that runs the length of the handle is a hair less than 3/16″ thick. It’s well balanced, feels good in your hand, is beautiful to look at, and feels heavy enough to easily cut through any bones I would be dealing with. It is a pretty good match to the Classic knives, I am very pleased.
