HIC’s Stand Alone Turkey Baster is an invaluable addition to cooking utensils and chef tools for cooking and roasting all types of food. From poultry to pork, beef, game, and fish, even vegetables, basting helps foods cook to a golden brown outside and remain moist and juicy inside. It’s the ideal cooking technique for roasting, grilling, rotisserie, and other slow cooking methods where food is exposed to heat for prolonged periods of time. HIC’s Stand Along Baster is specially designed to stand on the bulb and at the ready to prevent messy drips between uses. The Baster tube is heat-resistant to 500-degrees Fahrenheit with easy-read increments for precise measuring. Easy to use. Simply squeeze the silicone bulb and submerge the tip of the tube into the basting liquid. Slowly release the bulb to draw in liquid. Reposition the baster over the food and slowly squeeze the bulb to release the liquid. The tube comfortably holds 1. 0-ounce of broth, stock, au jus, marinade, glaze and more. For juicy baked chicken and cooking turkey and other oven roasted poultry, use a mixture of melted butter and wine, or cider. Baste oven roast meat with their own juices or use a meat marinade sauce or BBQ marinade for steaks on the grill for tenderizing meat, keep moisture in and maximize flavor. Baste spiral ham, apples, or baby carrots with a glaze or make honey glazed salmon. It also works nicely for siphoning liquids from sauces for a thicker consistency and fat drippings from roasting pans for low-calorie meals and healthy cooking. Made from heat-resistant plastic with silicone squeeze bulb, HIC Stand Alone Baster disassembles for a thorough cleaning with the included nylon cleaning brush. Top-rack dishwasher safe for easy cleanup.

BasterBulb is too big making it harder to clean. Suction power is not strong enough.

sucked up stuff doesn’t stay in the tube…Nice to be able to see the liquid, but volume in the tube is small (one oz), but bulb would suck up probably 4 oz if the tube were bigger. Worst thing, though, is the liquid doesn’t stay in the tube between sucking and squirting.

Don’t use it to baste anything hot!! Cracked first time used!Horrible! I ordered this same one once before and it cracked. I figured, for the price, I’d just order another one. The second one cracked the very first time I used it. Pretty color, loved the red, but do not waste your money if you are going to use it to baste anything hot. So bummed!

World’s Greatest…..Notordered on September 20, 2014. Very disappointed. Used approximately 1/2 dozen times. Cracks developed in the barrel tip which enables about one inch of liquid to be sucked up at a time. Replacing with stainless for less money.

It worksIt does stand up by itself, and it does withdraw liquids. The brush is a nice feature for this product.

Do not operate at all!I bought this one from a specialty cook’s store because I was looking for something dishwasher-safe that could be used with hot liquids, mostly because I just learned how to make gravy from drippings and I wanted to experiment with different kinds of drippings. The first time I attempted to try sucking up drippings from some ground lamb I had browned, there wasn’t enough suction in the bulb to *keep* the hot oil and water combination inside the baster. As I’m right-handed and as I pulled the tool out to dispense it into a measuring cup, the liquid squirted out to my left, hitting the hand which was holding the handle of the pot and nearly missing the open flame of the gas burner I had on under another pot. I threw it away immediately. These are dangerous, and should be recalled.

DO NOT BUYVery disappointed…. the idea is great but the actual tube is plastic…. it melts when you put hot liquid in it which is the purpose of the baster in the first place. It cracked when I sucked up chicken grease to baste my chicken. It is definitely not worth it. I used it 3 times and now it is cracked and garbage. I would not recommend this at all.
