As expected mostly. The hexagonal shape to the meatballs are great for the cooking size and shape, but it is a bit of work to wash, but worth it. I needed to run warm water over it while frozen to separate the mold and then tore them apart with my hands but it worked great for the grill!

Can’t cook in it.I am allergic to gluten and used to be able to get gf meatballs at Sam’s Club. They are no longer available anywhere, even on-line. I hoped this would make making my own easier, and it will, but I was disappointed that I can’t bake the meatballs in it. The ones I bought were pre-cooked and made meal making very easy. This adds a step or two, but I know I will use it, no more rolling meatballs!I hope they keep working on this product to make it more user friendly for us.

Love my meatballsI got this as a gift from my sister last year, and I made my meatballs, and then I made more to keep frozen so I would always have some on hand. The recipe provided was quite tasty, and my son just loves being able to grab some out whenever he has a pasta craving. The meatballs are a little larger than I expected (but not overly so) and are a great size for things like Meatball Sandwiches. You do need to give a little extra “Umph” when pushing frozen meatballs out of the mold, but plop them into a freezer bag/container, and you’ve got meatballs for a while. This is one item I am happy to recommend.

Not so helpful…It’s a great concept that needs more work. I’ve used it several times. I stuff the meat in the trays and wrestle the top in to shape the meatballs. I start in the center to push out the air but it really doesn’t work to get the air out. It does get the top on though —- and then you have to get it back off after your meatballs are frozen. It’s a struggle to pull it off and I’m not a weakling or a frail old lady. This thing is really hard to use and honestly, you end up using your hands anyway to pull off the little edge pieces.

Perfect for cookie doughI have no idea how well these work for meatballs, but I suspect they are great. I have used them for the past few years to pre-shape and freeze my cookie dough. I love them. What a time saver. After the dough has frozen in the trays, I pop the cookies out and move them into a freezer bag. I label the bag with the date, baking temp and time, and type of dough. On baking day it’s out of the freezer and into the oven with only the baking pan to wash. I use parchment paper, so that is usually just a quick soapy sponge and rinse job. They are useful for portion control because I can bake small batches. Unexpected company? I always have cookies. One note. These are sized for meatballs. I usually don’t fill the wells completely because the cookies end up being on the large side. And when the cookies are on the large side, so am I. The trays are are made in Canada. They are firm, not floppy. They are not oven safe, don’t bake in them. I bake frequently. I have 4 sets. I estimate each set is used at least twice a month, probably more. After roughly 3-4 years of regular freezer use, they are still in perfect shape. If only I was. Then again…round is a shape…..

Excellent, easy to use and cleanI was worried after reading reviews and almost sent it back before even trying it out. So glad I didn’t. Yes, I still had to use my hands a bit but this cut the time to roll out meatballs drastically. I preseasoned my meat mix which is right at 2 lbs. I used a bit of oil on both the top and bottom. Filled the tray and popped it in the freezer for an hour. Came right out with minimal sticking. A little hot water and soap with my sprayer from my sink was easy clean up. Made 32 uniform meatballs just as it said it would. Not hard to close or open. I did test by overfilling and it makes it impossible to close. Anyone who’s complained they can’t close it uses entirely too much meat. That or wasn’t doing it correctly. Great buy and would recommend. And it says on the bottom not to heat this thing. Wish I could comment on others who complained it melted. It literally says don’t heat on it.

No regrets“Meatball” is a charitable description. I describe it as octagonal. I carefully remove each “octagon” with a kitchen table spoon then roll into a uniform ball. It’s not a perfect solution to making meatballs but it saves time and easily cleaned.

It’s good just don’t follow the instructionsDispite the insistence of the instructions, you’re better off loading it upside down if you plan on freezing them. Otherwise you’ll probably end up with one solid chunk of meat that you’ll have to thaw to separate into balls.
