Very good, hurts hand without careOverall a good product. But not 5 starts because the only downside would be the plastic edge is not curved or more “press friendly ” so every time you fold and press the dough on the Norpro the plastic edge hurts the palm of your hand unless you use a rolled towel or kitchen rag to minimize uncomfortable contact. But overall serves the purpose.

Not deep enough for breakfast sandwiches. It’s alright. It does it’s job. It lacks volume though. I thought with a giant mold, I’d be able to fit a good breakfast’s worth of filling into it, but no. It only holds a few tablespoons… About half an egg. You wind up with empanadas that are all dough and none of the good stuff. If the wells were twice as thick, I’d give it 5 stars, but I won’t be able to use it. Would down for pie fillings, maybe.

Norpro handpie makerI love the norpro handpie makers. One side is used to cut out the dough and the other side is used to crimp it. I have the crescent one and the oblong one.

I love how it crimps the turnoversI love how it crimps the turnovers, but it doesn’t completely close all the way and crimp it completely. Also, it is not none stick and so you have to spray and flour it to make sure you get the dough out easily.

Smaller than expected for empanadasWorks but smaller than I expected for PR empanadas.

Not Worth the EffortI like to make Jamaican style curried beef patties … this seemed like a nice alternative to cutting dough and crimping by hand. And it is, sort of, except that a) you can’t put very much filling in there and b) you end up with a large area of unfilled crust around the perimeter. The result is a very nice looking patty that just doesn’t have enough filling.I ended up using it to cut neat circles of dough (which I then roll slightly to make them a bit more oblong), So it’s not a complete waste, I guess, but I still fill and crimp the patties by hand. Just like my Mom taught me … I guess Mom really does know best!

Perfect size for PastelillosThe size is very comfortable. It’s well made. Making a puertotican pastelillo is easier now. One side you press and get your circle. Flip it, layer ingredients and press. Very easy to handle

Do not buyOkay – it works. Would I buy again? No. I expected something more than flimsy plastic – obviously not American made which I expected based on the price.
