Nice for mixing spices for grillingthis is a nice little shaker to mix your spices for grilling. this way you won’t have to get out a half dozen bottles of spice just to prepare your meat, etc for grilling. It would also be nice for powdered sugar. However you have to be careful when you shake it because it comes out fast. Mine had a couple minor scratches but nothing that noticeable. Can’t beat it for the priceUpdate,I’ve been using this shaker for about a month now and with all the cooking we do on the grill, I love having all the spices I need mixed together in this shaker. I just grab the shaker and sprinkle It’s great not having to bring out so many different bottles of spices.there are a couple of negatives with this shaker. If left for a couple of days just sitting out, the spices want stick so it really would be nicer if it had a cover to keep the moisture out. Also the handle has sharp edges, They should be rounded off some.

PICKED THE RIGHT ONES, I DID!!!I am so glad that I read so many reviews before buying this product! There were quite a few bad reviews, but then I found one that bought different brands to compare and said these were the best. This saved me from having to return them. These are stainless steel and the lids screw on and off easily. I bought two for salt and pepper. The holes are many and large, but not too large for what I wanted. You just have to be careful how you shake them. These hold 10 ounces, so are perfect to set next to stovetop for cooking, without having to refill very often. When I’m cooking pasta or soup, it’s so handy and quick to add salt without getting the salt container out of the cupboard each time. Of course, doing that can get moisture in the salt, from the boiling water, so I add about 1/4 cup long grain white rice to the salt to obsorb the moisture and to keep it from clumping. The handles are great, too, and easy to grab, even with messy hands. I am very pleased with this product!

Useful kitchen item, great qualityI’ve been wanting a shaker thingie for a long time – I just didn’t know it was called a dredge. I ordered this one based on the good reviews and I’m very happy with it. It’s made in India, which tells me it’s good quality stainless steel. My favorite mixing bowls are Indian stainless and they’ve been in my kitchen for 20+ years.I like that this dredge has a handle, which will give a better grip if your hands are wet or oily and you need to sprinkle something. The lid screws on and off nicely, although I’ll have to be careful not to cross thread it and ruin the threads. It’s a nice size for sprinkling sugar and cinnamon, or flour, or powdered sugar in baking. It would probably work fine for shaking Parmesan cheese or mixed spices, too.Being stainless, it won’t rust or won’t crack with age. I imagine that this item will be in my kitchen for as long as I’m cooking, and that makes it a good buy.

My French Toast is smilingThis was just what I was looking for! I did not know that it was called a “dredger” but now I do. I had wanted a shaker to sprinkle confectioner’s sugar on french toast, waffles, and pancakes. The holes are just the right size (not too big, so you don’t have to worry about too much sugar pouring out.) I have used it only once so far, but I am satisfied. I wish it had some sort of lid or cover, but, since it does not, I simply wrapped a piece of clear cellophane over the top in order to prevent moisture from seeping in. The price was fantastic! And, there was FREE Shipping! Can’t beat that. I definitely recommend.

Works great, well made!Bought this for home use. It is well made, quality materials and it has held up very well. Threads on cap are tight. Holes on top are not to big, they let out just enough flour that you have to give several shakes to get what you need out of it. For the price I have been very impressed with this dredge. I have run mine through the dishwasher (top rack) as well as hand washing and have seen no difference in the finish. For the price you won’t be disappointed.

Good stainless steelUpdate, Dec. 25th, 2011: Just wanted to note that this is still in great shape, not a single sign of rust. We are not all that careful about avoiding steam when we shake salt into our pots, but the salt flows just fine. We DO keep about a teaspoon full of dry rice in this, which helps with all that steam! Cheers!Original review:Better stainless steel than our tea kettle! Good flow, well soldered handle. Just what we needed for serious cooking (as the round salt carton tends to be a little messy, plus my wife can’t control amounts well through the spout of the Morton container).I recommend adding a few uncooked grains of rice to the salt to help absorb moisture and keep things flowing. So far we have had no problem, even though we use it over steaming pots.Bon appetit!

Perfect10 Ounce Dredge with Handle / B0028IWZ00I purchased this for use with powdered sugar (because I like it to be prettily sprinkled over things instead of clumped on by the spoonful), and I’ve been so happy with it that I purchased a second one to hold flour so that I’ll have it close at hand when I need to roll out pastries. The metal is firm, not flimsy, and the handle is attached well. I’ve not had any problems with moisture or rust. The dredge holds enough sugar/flour/whatever that it doesn’t need to be constantly refilled, but it’s not so big that it takes up too much space in your cabinets. All in all, I’m really happy with this product and I recommend it.~ Ana Mardoll

Does what it is designed to do.Wish it had a plastic lid to prevent spills when not in use: this is its only limitation.

great multipurpose dredgeI ordered a few of these about a year ago and they’re terrific, though I don’t use them daily. I use a few for mixing spices (a la Emeril’s Essence), 2 for powdered sugar and cocoa, and one for flour to sprinkle over fish and crab cakes when I need a light coating before frying. I washed them in the dishwasher prior to use and no sign of rust, and so far nothing has reacted with the metal. Very useful, yet inexpensive product.
