Sturdy mechanism, inert acrylic matterial, made in france, historyI have one of peugeot’s acrylic papper mill for years. And it serves me faithfully. Like transparency and clarity of acrylic body. Papper mill I have is with acrylic head. Here is wooden, I think is weak link in construction. Because the wooden parts in kitchen never serves for decades. Prefer acrylic head, bought due to the good price for item. Peugeots mills have great history, steel mechanism, designs, reliability and durability especialy the not wooden mills. Wooden mils need to be cared carefully (moisture, storage, use). There are ceramics mrchanidm, but afraid of fragility of ceramic and find one chip in food. They changed design of crown knob. And now it is more usable and beautiful. Easy unscrew. Older was smaller and fully clean. This new is good for catching and adjusting or openning/closing.Very good salt mill.

Elegant, but more importantly it’s frustration freeOur family likes pepper. A lot. We also like a lot of pepper on our foods so we’re all experienced with the feel of pepper mills and the frustration of trying to get pepper from a poor quality mill. The entire family has commented on just how nice this mill is. It grinds pepper well, as fine or coarse as one wants, and has been entirely frustration free. The styling is beautiful and elegant, but even if this was as ugly as could be, I’d still recommend it. It grinds pepper that well.

Even, fine grindThis was for a Christmas gift to my brother because I already had one and love mine. It makes an even, fine grind that adds heat to your food without encountering big chunks of “surprises” like you get when you chop the chilis manually. Also, manual chopping usually results in bits of chili flying off onto the counter or onto the floor. The grinder eliminates that problem. .

Beautiful product, but unfortunately I feel deceivedI orderd 5 mills. The packages came this week.It look very very good. Its both modern and warm.Very clean design. When I received it a one mill had a large scratch. They hid it with a sticker!Sooo lame.I removed the sticker very gently, using water and soap only, and there was the scratch! If I want a replacement I must ship It back and it will cost me.I am really OK with the scratch. I am angry with them for hiding it with the sticker.BTW no other mill had a sticker.Beautiful product, but unfortunately I feel deceived.

RETURNED FOR SHIPPING DAMAGEThe mill came apart in the flimsy, large padded envelope it came in. Peppercorns spilled everywhere, but the reason I returned the item is that the wood top was damaged in 2 places on its top edge. Nothing kept the mill from rolling around loose in this big envelope. The mill was “protected” inside only by a smaller, thin foam envelope that wasn’t designed to close, so there was no way the mill would’ve stayed in it during shipping.
