It turns on as soon as you extend the sensor. Quickly gives you the temperature. Accuracy seems spot on. Haven’t had any meat under cooked that said it was at temp.

What’s not to like? It comes with a battery installed and an extra battery. It turns on without needing to press the power button. The probe is sharp enough and long enough for my needs. I have nothing to check it’s accuracy but it registers in the low 70s Fahrenheit when the tip is under running tap water. Pork chops (1″ thick) juices run clear and the chops aren’t dry at all, after reaching the temperature for well done.

This product is very easy to use and I really like the auto on and off, the only thing I seen on this product that I didn’t like was if you need to change the battery you will need a small phillips screw driver and not every one will have one in there house and if you have meat on the grill and realize the battery is dead that could be a problem.
