I really like this thermometer. It’s really accurate, and very easy to use. It does have a plastic head, but as long as you are careful with how you use it, that doesn’t matter. I’ve used it for grilling, candy, and baking without any issues.

I wanted to use it for candy so did the boiling water test. Boiling water should be 212 degrees and it got up to 202 degrees. So for my candy to reach 240 degrees it would of been way out and a guessing game so sent it back

I make pickles using a pasteurization process in which you have to keep the water in the kettle between 180 and 185 degrees for 30 minutes. It is crucial to keep it in that temperature range. Too hot and the pickles are mushy. Not hot enough and they are not shelf safe. I use two probes when pasteurizing, and my old “stick” probe was too short so it sat too close to the water surface and would fog up where you could not read it. This unit is great with the extra long metal probe and the handy clip that attaches to the kettle. It has made pickle making a lot easier. I tested the temperature read out against my other two thermometers and it is pretty much spot on. W

I’ve only used it a few times but am very happy with this candy thermometer. I like that the clip angles the probe away from the edge of the pan for a more accurate reading. I also like that you can set a temp alert.

The thermometer works great! Love the nice big numbers, so easy to read. I would give 5 stars if it beeped loudly to notify you that it was getting close to temperature. It has a flashing light but that doesn’t really help when you are busy cooking other things. You have to keep a constant watch on it. I had one from CK products that beeped when getting close and then beeped louder when it reached temp. May have to buy another one of theirs. The beep alert would make this thermometer 5 stars!

I’ve been making hands and candies all my life, using a regular candy thermometer. If you’re in the fence buying this, don’t be! This is sooooo much easier to read, and way more accurate than trying to read a regular thermometer!

Most accurate thermometer I have ever used. I use it for making caramels. Have tried many other types and this one is beyond perfect. Highly recommend!
