Works as expected but alarm is quiet

Digital readout ones column on the right side faded out but that could be from cleaning it. I hear you are supposed to clean it with a damp rag rather than spray the cleaner directly. I wish the alarm was louder as I use it in my semi truck to warn me when my fridge loses power by coming unplugged or the inverter turning off.

We picked up an ancient chest freezer for free to utilize for our meats and were worried about it holding up. We bought this to keep an eye on things and so far, it’s doing it’s job. Just as a test, I forced the alarm to go off, so we knew what to look for, and it only beeped for a small amount of time. We were hoping to have a longer alarm so no matter when we went to the garage, we would know something was wrong.

This is a well made, solid unit with a nice brushed steel case. The temperature is easy to read, it has a strong magnet to mount it, and it uses a standard AAA battery which I like… I hate those little button batteries. Now for what I don’t like and why I deducted 1 star from the rating: There’s no little suction cup on the sensor to mount it… I had to wrap the wire around steel grate on my top shelf and let it dangle. A ten-cent suction cup should come with it. The alarm volume is so low you’d NEVER hear it from another room, let alone if it was in the garage. And when you set the alarm temps the “HI” and “LO” indicators are such small print I had to get a magnifying glass to read it. Then when you set it, it jumps two degrees per press, only goes up, and it goes to 150 degrees, so if it starts on 30 and you want 29, you have to press it SEVENTY FIVE TIMES. Other than that I like it and now that it’s programmed and stuck to the side of my freezer I’m happy and would buy it again. I’m adding a copy of the directions in case someone needs them.

This thermometer alarm is reasonably priced, and relatively easy to read. It has a long cord to the sensor. It has three ways to mount it: flip out stand, magnet, and a hanger for a nail or screw. The main negative is that the directions are incomplete, hard to understand and quite useless. I’ve attached a screen shot of Paige Turner’s directions, so follow those. The attached photo should help you so that you don’t have to search through all the reviews to find Paige’s.
