Measuring a trim 2-5/8 by 2 by 1/2 inches, this super-compact timer can stand on a table, slip into a shirt pocket, or magnetically attach to a refrigerator. The timer counts either up to or down from 24 hours by seconds, and its digital memory feature makes it ideal for repetitive timings, such as baking cookies and board game moves. After reaching zero, the timer begins counting up so you know how much time has elapsed since the first alarm beeps. Clearly marked buttons and a red function switch make the timer easy to use, and the alarm’s extra-loud staccato beeps can be heard over the din of a children’s birthday party. CDN covers the digital timer with a five-year warranty against defects. One button battery is included for operation.–Ann Bieri

10/10Took me and my boyfriend a minute to figure out how to use it but it’s so well thought out and handy! Would never not have one again

Liked it so much I bought another one! This is my second CDN timer and I love it. It is my second because the first did not survive the swim in the cat bowl. Not a product problem, an owner problem. I’ve had the first one for two years and love it. It is a timer/count-up/clock item. When using it for cooking and baking, it counts down to zero, rings for a minute (and I can hear it 20 ft away in another room) and then counts up until I turn it off. It has a memory feature so that when I bake cookies, I set the memory to 12 minutes and use the memory function each time. I am happy to say that you can use the memory function and add minutes to it. For example, I usually have it set for 15 minutes. If I need 20 minutes, I hit the memory feature and add 5 additional minutes to make 20. I wish my microwave did that. The count-up timer works just like every simple count up timer. No bells or whistles. The little clock function is nice too. Also very plain jane kind of clock but visible. The whole timer is about 2 3/4″ by 2″. It doesn’t have a huge screen but it is very visible. I wear glasses and about 5′ away is the farthest I can read it. While the screen is not backlit, the numbers are high contrast and easily seen (I have vision problems and can read it easily). It can stand by itself, lay down or attach to a steel surface.I bought a card of 8 batteries from Amazon. They are Maxell LR44 A76 1.5v batteries. During the two years I had the first timer, I only needed one battery. And I use this little timer a lot.The new one has a slightly different bell but I like it. I recommend this to friends and have been delighted to get a new one myself. I have purchased a $30 Kitchen Aid timer in the recent past and the only thing I liked about it was that it was red.Nowhere near the flexibility and reliability of this little CDN.

Nice timerThe timer is functional and easy to use.

Disc battery required, no AAA / AAThis timer requires a smaller disc battery to use… I don’t want to wait for a replacement when the battery dies… strongly preferred a AA or a AAA.

Versatile and compact timerThis compact timer is really handy–it can be used for a few different things. I ordered it as a daily reminder, and as a cooking timer. It’s one of only two I could find that was capable of counting down not just minutes and seconds, but also hours, which is what I needed it for.A manual “switch” on the right-hand side can set the timer to one of three functions. Here’s what each one does:Timer: Set the seconds, minutes, and/or hours needed before an alarm will sound. There is one “memory” that you can set. For example, if you often need a setting of 1 1/2 hours, you can save that to the memory. Then it’s only a matter of pushing the “Memory” and “Start” buttons to get that time rolling.Count-Up: This feature lets you count up the time, as a stopwatch does.Clock: Shows the actual time. The timer is made in such a way that it can be used as a magnet, a clip (such as to a belt), and the clip has a metal stand/easel on it, so it can be propped up.The only feature I wish it also had would be to be able to set it to go off at a specific clock face time (i.e., not number of hours and minutes, but an exact time).Even without that feature, though, I still use it daily.

Perfect, versatile, easy to use timer! This timer is great! I use it in my classroom for so many different things. It’s awesome for getting students’ attention when “time is up” as the beeping is very loud. I also love that it has a memory setting. I’ve set mine to 30 seconds and that’s the perfect amount for think-pair-share. It also has a count up setting which is great when you’re trying to track the length of a presentation, etc.I used to work at a coffee shop, and we used these timers to regulate espresso shot times and to keep track of tea brewing. They worked stupendously. They do–unfortunately, obviously, and expectedly–die a horrible death if you get them wet. Great timer!!!!UPDATE 5 months later:I have just started to have some issues with the timer. I still think it’s a good purchase, but in the interest of full disclosure, here’s some more info. The timer now sometimes crashes, just like a computer does. The screen will fail and only partially display and none of the buttons will work. I have to do a hard reboot (I.e. take out the battery and then put it back in) to get it to work properly. Sometimes I have to do this a few times before it will properly work. This seems to happen when I’m trying to set the timer for a larger number of minutes and thus rapidly press the minute button repeatedly. The timer does still work, but it’s an annoying quirk to deal with when thirty plus students are waiting for me to start the timer.

Perfect timer for my needs.Bought this to time brew for espresso making. I use its magnetic back to put it on the side of my machine. I set the memory to 25 seconds (or whatever) and press go when I start the brew. It beeps when it gets to the time, continues beeping whilst indicating the seconds past the trigger. Press stop/start button to stop beeping. Press memory button and ready to go for next time. Simple and easy – as it retains the memory time until you reset it. Worked straight out of the box, and reliable so far.

Thoroughly recommendedA great little timer which worked effectively. Unfortunately, after only 12 months of fairly light use it just stopped working. The display showed a jumble of characters which a change of battery did not cure. Given that this was not in the cheapest price bracket of timers I would expect greater use than this.

Good timer if Memory works!Good timer especially the Memory Function. I always had it set at 20 minutes which was very useful. Unfortunately that function no longer works which is why I’ve only given it 3 stars.
