This is a copy of the email I sent to customer service regarding having to purchase more than just the part that is broken & the lack of good customer service. I had to wait months to contact them AGAIN due to my extreme frustration with the whole situation. I think the email explains it all. I will update this review when & if I get a response from Cuisinart regarding my complaints.
Dear Sir/Mdm.,
I’m writing to let you know of my dissatisfaction with the replacement parts issue I have been having and your customer service department’s failure to be proactive in assisting me resolving my issue(s) so my product can be put back in use.
Back in late Sept 2013, a small piece broke on the bowl of my 30+ yr old Cuisinart food processor. I emailed Cuisinart describing the piece that had broken off my original bowl, asking what part number I needed to replace my bowl. I gave them my model number and approximate age of my product. I was given the part number of the item I needed and I ordered that part through Amazon. After placing the bowl onto my Cuisinart base I attempted to place the top/pusher sleep assembly onto the bowl to start using my Cuisinart, come to find out that top will not fit with the bowl that I was directed to purchase. Needless to say I was annoyed & frustrated but I contacted customer service in Jan 2014, requesting the part number for the new top/pusher sleeve assembly & had to order a ANOTHER new part, which was an additional cost ($25 + s/h) to me that I was not expecting.
After receiving my new top/pusher sleeve assembly and adding that on top of my new bowl, I went to put my pusher into the pusher sleeve assembly and IT will not fit, it’s diameter is slightly too big, now I need to purchase ANOTHER new piece!? This is ridiculous, I have been so upset at that I can not use my Cuisinart after ordering 2 new parts & spending what I consider to be a lot of money for additional parts that are still in fine shape but apparently you all have changed the part dimensions JUST enough that I can not use them with the new part, so you can not replace just the one part that is broken but multiple parts must be purchased.
I’m quite unhappy that if one little piece breaks that I have to purchase so many other pieces to complete the whole assembly so that I can use the Cuisinart again. I purchased Cuisinart because at the time, 30 years ago, Cuisinart had such an excellent reputation that I was willing to pay the extra money to purchase Cuisinart over any other brand. Is seems to me at this point that Cuisinart no longer lives up to the expectations that I had at the time of my purchase. Your customer service department SHOULD have told me that I was going to need to replace additional pieces when I asked about replacing the bowl. During my initial contact with your customer service department I gave them the model number of my Cuisinart food processor & the approximate age of my Cuisinart, therefore your customer service dept SHOULD have known that I needed additional pieces and made me aware of this issue the FIRST time I made contact with customer service.
Considering that I had such a poor experience with your customer service and that I had to purchase additional parts which I was not expecting to do when one little piece broke on my bowl. I think that it is only fair that you should send me a FREE PUSHER to go with the pusher sleeve assembly that I was required to purchase when was my original was not broken. The pusher sleeve assembly that I purchased as directed by your customer service department is:
Cuisinart DLC-018BGTX Large Pusher/Sleeve Assembly
By the way I certainly hope that the pieces that I purchase hold up for the 30 years that my last pieces have held up, although after reading some of the Amazon reviews about these replacement parts, I doubt it. On Amazon some people are saying that the they have to replace the parts two and three times a year because the small plastic pieces break so easy. I certainly hope that issue has been corrected since those reviews were posted. I have raved about Cuisinart products over the last 30 years because of my experience with it so far. I certainly hope I don’t need to start complaining to everyone about Cuisinart products because the quality has gone down. From Cuisinart I expect a high quality product with a long life AND excellent proactive customer .

Easy to order, perfect fit, arrived neatly packaged and quick?

Was a little apprehensive about ordering this part. My appliance is 20 years old. Sometimes with the part number matches the parts themselves have changed. This is perfect.

I’ve replaced multiple plastic parts on our 35 yr old DLC-10 Cuisinart over the years. Only on my most recent purchase did I have a problem. The older assemblies that have a pink-ish color to them and the new[er] parts have a grey-ish color to them. Some of the grey-ish parts now have a “T1” suffix stamped on them. For the most part and possibly for all of them (I’m not sure) if you purchase a part number that ends in T1 then you must replace the other parts that do not end in T1. The parts are very close in size; however, they won’t fit. For example, a DLC-117BGTXT1 “pusher assembly” (not, this is not the white cylinder pusher; rather, this is the assembly that attaches to the top of the assembly atop the bowl, it will require a new “T1” version of the bowl… which will then require a new T1 version of the main bowl. Expensive and disruptive. My take away is it is better to buy the same version you have even though it is out of production. That is, you’re forced to buy a used part. Of course almost all the used parts have some kind of crack in them, so it’s a gamble. What I did was buy a non-working unit because I have a working motor. To make this more confusing, there are some grey-ish parts that don’t have a T1 suffix, that *will* work and not require purchasing other plastic assemblies. This is in no way a complaint of this part here being sold. It is exactly what it says. It’s just that you may have a problem if your base unit is old[er].

I have an old Cuisinart processor that works perfectly well but the old part this replaced had lost one of the clips where the tube attaches and, as such, prevented the processor from turning on. I didn’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on a new processor when I am happy with the old one so I was pleased to finally find this part on Amazon.
The pusher that was marketed as compatible was too small in diameter and I had to send it back but otherwise this was perfect and has allowed my old machine to keep running.

My Cuisinart is 25 years old and this pusher sleeve was always getting jammed. Very happy this replacement one fits perfectly and works very well.

This was delivered the next day, in less than 24 hours. I am so thankful as I have a lot to do and need this unit to work. What a huge relief to find this on Amazon for less money and faster delivery than a parts store.
