I really needed this item I purchased a Cuisinart Dual Blender/Food Processor about two years ago it was awesome, itis still awesome but it has one bad problem the plastic housing that holds the blade cracks, the one I replaced after two years had a crack almost half-way up the housing, now this new one already has a crack about 1 inch up the housing, I know that they announced a defect on this blade about a year ago but I never realized that mine was cracked, so I never send it back for a replacement, other than that I really Love this blade, which I use alot !!!

The photograph of this item is what I wanted, because the one that came with the Cuisinart Food Processor has the blades embedded in the plastic hub. This blade was always hand washed, never run in the dish washer. It shows many stress cracks around the blades and is ready to fall apart. That is why I ordered the rugged-looking blade shown in the photograph. I did NOT received the illustrated blade, but got instead an exact copy of the one that’s falling apart. I expect better from Amazon than a bait and switch ploy. So I’ll use this one until it starts to fall apart (and it will); then I’ll buy a replacement from a local source where I can see it before I buy it.
I was curious how the old style blade (same as the new one) was assembled, so I chipped off the already cracked plastic around the metal blades. As you can see from my photo, the metal blade is all one piece, not two pieces held together by plastic. I feel better about the structural integrity of the metal blade, but the plastic around it does crack and continues to be a concern.

I gave this 4 stars because it seems to fit better than our previous replacement. This looks exactly like the original. The problem is in the Cuisinart design. There are stress points that result in cracks in the plastic. We do not use this every day and the last replacement lasted about 3 years. Hope to get that much out of this one too.

Although expensive the piece is what I needed as my current blade has developed a crack in the plastic.
