My Experience with unit and customer serviceI bought this slicer in early August. Worked great and looked really nice!!! Then in October after using it about a dozen times I saw smoke coming from inside the unit. Unplugged it and and it resolved. The next time I used it after about 2 minutes I smelled what seemed to be something electrical burning and the plastic over the motor was too hot to touch. I reached out to customer service and they got back to me right away to gather more information on what was happening. Of course it was well outside the 30 day return window so I did not have a lot of hope of any positive resolution. I was SHOCKED at what transpired with this company. As I stated they got back to me quickly to gather more information. They assigned a case manager (Mine was Debra). And that is the person that deals with the entire issue. No talking to a new person every time!!! (LOVE THAT). She emailed me a PRE PAID return label, I sent the unit back and the return was “approved” (not sure what that means lol). But UPS right now has a new unit in their possession that is expected to be delivered to me on Monday!! I can’t tell you how pleasantly surprised I am with the follow through from this company and Debra specifically. KUDO’s to them and HER!!!!!!!!!! I have already bookmarked their site for any future kitchen needs. That’s how impressed I am with their actions. Needless to say I would highly recommend them!!!! Thank you Chefman!!!!

Cool toy only for infrequent use and only for soft items. You could end up with plastic in your foodI bought this slicer because I liked the price, the brand name, and because the blade size and alleged motor power. I never owned an electric Deli Slicer before, and I mainly wanted one for slicing hard salami. It looks very well made. Unfortunately once I actually tried it, I was very disappointed. First, the motor turns the blade pretty slow, and as soon as it the blade hits the food it slows even further. Second, no matter how thin you set the guard, once the food hits the blade the force twists the guide and the guard apart and the slices end up being thicker than you want. Third, the plastic food shield has spikes on it that are supposed to bite into the food for safety. But those spikes are long enough to actually get cut off by the blade and now my spikes are a bit flat on the end. (I didn’t notice how they tasted.) Finally (and worst of all) the sliding food tray has one guide wheel all the way on the front end, and no support on the back end where the food rests. Any food that is heavy (like salami) will weigh down the sliding tray and as you push the food through the blade, distort it enough that it makes contact with the blade. My food tray has a chewed up rear edge and my slices end up with tiny flecks of black plastic.I imagine that if you only use it for lightweight, soft food it would be a breeze. But you can slice that yourself with a good knife. For hard salami, it is NOT GOOD.I also tried it with a softer roast. On very thin, it shredded a lot of the meat, so that the entire blade area was full of small pieces of meat. I had to keep turning off to collect my shreds. About half of my roast ended up as shredded beef.My suggestion to the company would be to a) add a second guide wheel underneath the rear edge of the food tray to support it better, and b) maybe make the business edge of the food tray slightly tapered or curved so that it can’t get sliced away by the blade. Of course this could make the last slice of food get stuck it that space…

Meat must be completely thawedFirst off it’s not cast it is plastic. Second when you cut the meat you have to be very careful because it slides in between the cutter and the slide and can cause a big jam up. And because the cradle is plastic it does not grip the way you think it would so you must be very careful.

Well worth it.One thing you’ll want is a can of lithium grease for the back of the wheel. We have to add a little after each use. Slices very thin, enough power for cold meats.

Easy to use, hard to cleanThis is a nice little meat slicer. Simple and easy. My only complaint is it’s hard to clean. There are indents behind blade that get meat in them. You have to use a q tip to clean them. Otherwise, it’s small and easy to store. I would buy it again.

You get what you paid forFirst impression was not great. Apparently it is used. This doesn’t surprise me anymore from Amazon shopping. Upsetting. Yes.Cutting wheel has a wobble and speed looks pretty slow. But it cut the meat pretty good, raw or frozen. Cleaning was not too bad. I use a sanitizer wipe and gets most off. So I’ll keep it due to low price item.

Yes, No, I mean it works but…Okay so I read the reviews and one of the reviews stood out about how slow it turns. Yes it does turn slow. I mean I suppose I could get inside and speed it up myself with some tinkering, but to be honest it does slice pretty well. I made some roast beef and after refigeration I sliced it. I got some pretty good thin slices. The issue is you have to slice very slowly. Seriously though I paid $50 for this thing. The last one I purchased, a different brand, I paid $120 and loved that thing so I guess I knew what to expect paying $50. It does slice well. Yes it rotates slower than I expected but the blade is sharp and does its job. Next up is cleaning. You will also need to take your time cleaning this thing. Had debris all in the screw holes other reviews were talking about. Okay so it took like 5 minutes to clean this thing to my standards…not the end of the world. Used a toothpick to scrape out them screw holes and my frustration ended there. Again, this thing is $50. I could have either spent $100 to $200 more and been very happy, but for $50, honestly if this thing lasts I would probably buy it again. It ain’t no professional meat slicer, it’s the occasional slice some meat slicer.

Cheese slicerI have been wanting a meat/cheese slicer for a while and finally bought this one. It works well, it was just hard to control the thickness of the slices; some were thicker than others. That’s ok, it’s just for home use. For my $53.00 that I paid for it, it was worth it.

Decent considering the price.Does the job, but the blade turns slow and the cuts are not real clean. You end up getting a lot of meat crumbles to clean up if you slice thin.
