Works great in 90°+ kitchen without air conditioningSeriously! It’s over 90° where I live near AL/FL border so it is a few degrees warmer in my un-air-conditioned kitchen this time of year and I still made ice cream the same day this arrived.I froze it upside-down for about 5 hours and was then able to make 3 servings of ice cream that day. I could have made more but the demand was for three. Easy and fun! I did not try to make rolls, just ice cream, and it works well and quickly. The surface area is perfect for making a single serving (4-6 oz.) of your favorite frozen ingredients. After pouring the mixture, I put it in the freezer for about 5 minutes, then took it out to scoop/stir until solid enough to scoop into a serving container. Then back in the freezer for 10+ minutes, then repeat to start another serving. I did sling some ice cream across the room at one point, oops, operator error. Wouldn’t hurt to step outside to do the scooping if practical in your location.I do not anticipate ever needing to use anything but a damp towel to clean this item, and cool, soapy water to clean the paddles. I can see no reason why it should get damaged or need a soapy cleaning if it is always frozen.It is weird that the form for this review asked for my rating of the flavor. That would depend entirely on what was in the ice cream one makes. There were a few recipes that came with the item and I glanced at them but they all use egg yolks. which I do not want in my ice cream. I just used the same mixture I had always used in Donvier – heavy cream, a little sugar, and a pulverized peach for peach flavor. Heavy cream, a little sugar, and a squirt of chocolate syrup for chocolate flavor. A few drops of vanilla extract for vanilla flavor. This should be eaten while soft-frozen because if frozen all the way, it’s as hard as a rock. A little goes a long way because there is no air in it, and 36% milk fat. It is great “on a stick” ice cream for that reason.Whatever you use …the great thing about making your own is you can make it exactly like-you-like-it.

Makes ice cream ok, but not so good at rolls.When I got my new apartment, it had a side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, and my existing ice cream “cold plates” which are roughly 12″ in circumference did not fit “flat” in my freezer! So, I decided to try this rectangular one, checking the measurements beforehand.I found that this particular plate is not that good for actual “rolled” ice cream, but I didn’t buy it for that purpose. I just wanted to use it to make small batches of frozen treats ‘on demand,’ which I’m able to do.NOTE: Through some testing, I suggest pouring your ice cream base onto the plate, then putting back in the freezer for at least 5 -7 minutes BEFORE scooping and mixing it. After scooping into a little mound, put it BACK in the freezer AGAIN for another 5 – 10 minutes, then transfer to a freezer-safe container with a lid. This technique, for me at least, resulting in a much harder ice cream, which I was going for.

Easy to make ice cream, but good luck rolling it!Really easy to make ice cream with just couple ingredients and clean up is easy too! It does not roll if you follow the instructions. My best guess is that you would need to use very little mix and put it back in freezer until it is frozen solid before it would roll like it shows.

Not worth it. Didn’t work for rolls.I bought this for my kids for Xmas over a typical ice cream maker. We put it in our super cold freezer for about 36 hours before use and only took it out once mixture was made but it didn’t freeze enough or evenly to make rolls. Was just a mess of sloppy ice cream we scraped into a bowl. Wishing I had just bought the ice cream maker.

Do not purchase!!!!We purchased this 2 years ago. My kids used it alot when we first got it. Then we put it on a shelf in our very dry basement. It destroyed the shelf it was on and the items below it. Seems to have exploded.

It works okayits good but doesnt roll well. Using yogurt worked the best for us. Spread it all over then just leave for 3-5 minutes then try to roll it. Its a great frozen dessert

Almost okayIt’s an innovate design to make my own ice cream at home without any additives or chemicals. It’s a struggle to get a perfect one, still I feel it’s a learning process. Worth the money.

ScratchedUsed for the first time today. When unboxed, I noticed a scratch on the front plate part of the item. I used and it the scratch didn’t seem to impact functionality. But I’m concerned if it might in the future. Other than the scratch, I would recommend this item. It made delicious ice cream and was super easy. And easy to clean.
