Time Saver!!The Black and Decker family sized electric griddle cut my cooking time in half! I make french toast and freeze them for quick breakfasts. I usually make 1 to 2 LOAVES at a time on a square pan on my stove top. I can only cook 4 slices at a time on the stove top pan but I’m able to cook 8 slices at a time with this griddle. Time Saver! Also, my home gets smoky when I cook so many slices on my stove top pan (perhaps because it is older and I need to re-oil the surface each time I put new french toast on it). I had no smoky problem with the electric griddle. I thought cleanup might be a bit difficult since it can’t be immersed in water, but a wet clean washcloth easily cleaned the griddle’s surface. The only downside is that the griddle takes up more storage room than my old square pan, but I’m willing to deal with that. I wish I bought this griddle years ago.

Works GreatGreat product. Yes, it does heat a little uneven because of the way the element is routed in a loop but not to a point it is unacceptable. It works for me and I’m happy with my purchase.

It worked well until it didn’tIn 2005 my husband and I got married and one of our wedding gifts was a griddle. It was perfect for our family that started growing 2 years later and served us well for 14 years. After if finally bit the dust I purchased this Black + Decker griddle hoping we would have the same success with this new one. It worked well for almost 3 years but recently while cooking pancakes we noticed they weren’t getting brown. The griddle was hot but things weren’t doing what they normally do. By the end I had it turned the entire way up as high as it would get, but it didn’t seem to make a difference. I am disappointed that it didn’t last and that we now have to buy a new one. Again. This works fine, but it doesn’t last long enough.

Keep an eye on your drip pan!I got my griddle in January and have used it frequently. Over all, I am quite pleased with it – however, I feel like the temp control gage could be better marked. It’s hard to read and I don’t think it reads true to the actual temperature. I set it lower than I would have on previous griddles to avoid burning things. Once you know to make allowances though it heats quickly and cooks fairly evenly! The drip pan and “warming tray” though are both a joke. They are both too small to be of any use, considering this is a family size griddle. A pound of bacon cooks comfortably on the griddle but the grease overflows the tiny drip pan! Talk about a mess! I have never had that happen on either of my last 2 griddles! As for the warming tray, it can only hold a few pieces of bacon or 4 mini pancakes. This may be normal but l expected something bigger so I didn’t find it very useful. I finally threw away the tiny drip pan and just use the larger warming tray under the drip hole instead! No more overflows at least! Once I got to know how to work with it, I have no more complaints. It does heat evenly and is easy to clean up. 4 stars overall!

Wasn’t sure I needed “another” kitchen appliance.. I did!I have a smooth/glass top electric range and have previously used a square flat pan and also a cast iron, 2 sided grill pan/griddle for making pancakes. I read reviews on America’s Test Kitchen site and they didn’t think too highly of this product… They aren’t usually wrong, and granted, I didn’t try out their almost $200 “recommended” model, but for me, a busy mom of 2 hungry boys, this worked so much better than my 2 options I was using before!I do make my bacon in the oven and take it out a little under done and toss it in the fridge. I all at once, reheated/finished cooking my bacon and had space to make also six pancakes…. Next, did 4 over medium eggs just with the bit of bacon grease left from reheating my bacon… It really is non-stick! After that, was able to make 8 larger sized pancakes at a time, no problem! Was easy to clean, put the 2 drawers from the underside in the dishwasher, unplugged this and ran it under warm sink water with a little dish soap rubbed on with just my hands, air dried and done!I’m running out of space in my kitchen so put this on top of the fridge and can’t even see it up there! Easy storage! For $30, a definite must have for cooking a lot at once and getting my boys out the door in the morning!
