    well make great productthey make the best products well-made should last forever and i use solid coconut oil in a jar, so nothing ever sticks, and the oil never burns happy cooking

    this is a *real* and a *great* grill…after years of grilling a lot with gas and (temperamental) charcoal, this Zojirushi makes perfect direct heat grilling jobs so predictable and easy it takes chance utterly out of the equation. this is an addictively effective kitchen tool.hands down – you will cook the best looking steaks or burgers or whatever easily – the sear-marks will be *perfect*. once you get the timing right you will be able to predictably deliver on any degree ranging from medium-rare to charred-to-a-crisp.this thing gets seriously HOT and because of the heft in metal it stays that way when you drop stuff on it: it sears it right away and hence delivers on stuff that keeps moisture inside. if you are a fan of seared tuna or medium rare filet mignon, this “little” grill will do a better job than far more expensive grills – and as mentioned before, the meats will look *beautiful*, cookbook quality every time! remember the grilling rule: just flip it once.because you will most likely keep this grill inside (i keep it always on top of the kitchen range) your standards of keeping it pristinely clean will be higher than with your outdoor grill. the good news is it is easy to keep looking like it came out of the box with about the same amount of work it takes to keep your outdoor grill keep looking like it is not a total health hazard. especially now with the “OXO Good Grips Electric Grill and Panini Press Brush” it easy to get stuff off it right after grilling. but mind the fact that -if you were grilling at higher than medium- you will melt the brush unless you wait a little. this grill gets hot. if you have drippy stuff you will have to also quickly clean the drip tray. i haven’t found it necessary to keep water in there, like other people report. but i prefer lean cuts, maybe that’s why.i know some bbq aficionados will hate me for saying this – but this grill helps you deliver on predictable, awesome results *every* time.i have never bought a zojirushi appliance that didn’t make me feel like, wow, these guys really know their stuff. if they bother to make it it is probably tops at its intended purpose.if i had to BBQ for over 8 people sure, this would be too small, but for 1-4 people this allows you to deliver on *perfection* for meats and vegetables. this is not a poor excuse for an outdoor grill – in many ways it is much *better*.i love the way my food looks , how it sears in moisture, and how user friendly it is. i would not cook a $90 wagyu filet mignon on any other grill ever again. that is how well this thing works.PS May 2015 – this thing is amazingly good. mine remains a mainstay in my kitchen. i see criticism about sauces burning in…. of course they do! cook any meat with high temperature with a gooey sauce and the sauce will burn! i just cook meat the old fashioned way: i bring them to semi room temp within an hour, salt and pepper them some, sometimes an extra rub. if i have marinated, i kinda rub it off so there’s not too much stuff on it. on the grill it’s the way to go. in that pure state, i never have to go over medium-high to get awesome and dark sear marks on my meats. it’s what the great bbq chefs say. attached a picture of a filet mignon cooked in medium setting after 4 minutes and i flip it. check out the sear marks, as well as how clean the grill is.also – halibut… perfect.i think the *huge* strength of this grill is the accurate and total control it gives you over different temperatures for different goals. and the ease of cleaning depends on your right choices on the matter. mine looks like absolutely spanking new. even though i have cooked some sloppy, juicy things on it. as a rule, i prefer not to. it is easier to clean than a traditional outdoor grill even in that case…Update January 2016: Built to last, picture of the grill right now attached… if you take care of it and operate it to the (veru lenient) instructions, wow, this thing lasts and lasts full non stick… best grill ever!

    Higher wattage than previous model.Larger than previous model, seems to cook about as fast also.Larger and heavier than previous model, which may not be necessary for some people.Cleans fairly easy with a non metallic grill brush.If doing Korean bbq sugar content makes it a little harder to clean. Cleaning while slightly warm may help.My 3rd grill in 25 years so I must like these grills.

    Pro & cons 5 weeks of useAfter 5 weeks of use with steaks, shrimp and vegetables I would say this grill works pretty well. The problem with indoor grills is that they do not get as hot as an outdoor barbecue would. Then there is more of a cleaning issue. Also they do not hold as much food so I’ll seperate these three issues.Cooking. It’s hot enough to cook steaks and leave dark grill marks on the meat but not hot enough to blacken or seal the meat it is cooking. The way I got around that was to drop the steaks on a cast iron pan for 30 seconds, on each side of the steak, before cooking on the grill. You could ask why then use the Zojirushi? Well you don’t have to watch to see if the steaks are getting burnt as the grill does a great job from here on in, and you could then be prepping other items with out worrying. Besides it is used for other food as well as steak. I found marinated foods with a sauce on them could increase the cleaning time, but I’ll come to that later. As far as shrimp and vegetables go it does a good job provided the veg is cut small or has been blanched and dried prior to grilling. Most of the time this grill will be used on the full heat setting, or lower just to keep food warm. One could of course use it for food cooked on another appliance to keep that food warm. Creates less smoke than cooking in a frying pan would, surprisingly little smoke really. So cooking gets 4 stars but I am tempted to give it 5 stars – if it were not for the steak blacking issue.Cleaning. This is a non stick item where food sticks a little especially anything with a sauce on it. Most can be wiped off with a paper towel quite easily while the grill is warm to hot. It disassembles easily and I held the grill surface in the sink with the electrical contact area well away from water, then used a soft bristle brush and detergent. This worked well and quickly. I dried with a towel and re-assembled and took up to full heat to dry out. I have also, gently, used a toothbrush sized wire brush from time to time, against the manufactures instructions I might say. I use the wire brush to move food from between the grill surfaces very carefully – I’m not scrubbing with it. Being not a recommended practice, I might add, but non-stick surfaces loose theeir properties after many heatings, and in time the wire brush will get probably harder use. I am very careful not to be scratching the non-stick surface. After many uses burnt on food sticks in the grill slots and can be harder to remove with just paper towels. Depends how clean you want to keep it.I found lining the removable tray with tin foil speeded up cleaning. So cleaning to “bring back like new condition” I’d give it 4 stars.Size. About right for me – thats one person who cooks for 1 – 3 persons more most of the time. This morning I grilled bacon for 2 and that took the whole of the grill surface so I would not want anything smaller. Probably holds 4 small steaks, or 3 medium or 2 large steaks. However it takes up a lot of real estate on the kitchen surface and as my cupboards are full lives on the oven top with the electrical cord and connector in a draw. From that point of view I would have liked something smaller. But for me it is more important to be able to cook for more than one than the storage issue, so 4 stars here as well.Assembly I should point out that it has to have the drip tray in place or the safety mechanisem does not allow the electric cord to connect. I spent an hour trying to put it together one time before I figured that out.Yes, I would buy this again.

    Now I can have Korean BBQ in my aptAbsolutely love this thing.My apartment complex banned both gas and charcoal grills so I went and found this electric one. I like putting it over my stove to take advantage of the vent.So far I’ve cooked mostly boneless chicken thigh, galbi, and bulgogi. And have had no issues.I like to line the drip tray with a sheet of aluminum that I can just throw out. Also if you’re using marinated meats you’re likely to get build up between the grill grates, use wooden skewers or similar bc the nonstick surface does scratch off easily

    Ya Gotta Love ItZojirushi EB-DLC10 Indoor Electric GrillJust received the Zo EB-DCL10 Indoor Electric Grill this morning so I had to give it a test and, of course, the test did not involve an expensive cut of meat – – a Costco’s 1/3# sirloin paddy is just fine.As the instructions state the new grill will smoke the first time used. The amount of smoke was minimal and disappeared once the grill reached temperature. There is a “new grill” odor and could be irritating for those sensitive to such. If you are sensitive to odors I’d suggest using outside the first time or two, for me it’s not a problem and I can leave windows/doors open as I usually do this time of year.I had expected the grill to heat quite fast so I did the prep work first such as getting the hamburger bun ready with mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, put a little BBQ sauce on the meat, sliced some cheese and got a bit of onion ready for grilling. Well, it took about 30 minutes to heat up to the 410° maximum. Now I know, unless there’s a lot of time consuming prep work plug this sucker in first. Once up to temperature I threw the paddy on the grill – 5 minutes on one side, flipped it over to finish it to my tastes, put the onion on the grill and before I knew it I was enjoying one delicious hamburger. (I’m getting hungry again just thinking about it.)Clean-up, a point of contention with some: I thought it was a “slam dunk”. As I have always done I sprayed a little olive oil on the grill before firing it up and as soon as I took the meat and onion off the grill and while it was still hot I wiped it down with a damp cloth, what few particles of meat left on the grill simply dropped into the tray. An hour or so later it’s now cooled completely and quite easy to wash with soapy water, rinse and dry.There’s a salmon steak, ready to be put in some marinade, I’m going to grill for dinner. We’ll see how that turns out. – – – It turned out great  I’m happy to say. Perhaps it was the homemade bread that set if off.Anyway, back to the smoking: Yes it did smoke while heating but let’s remember I sprayed a light coating of olive oil on the grill. So far as odor, I didn’t notice it this time. For cleaning I followed the same procedure as the first time so it was a simple no hassle cleanup job.The warm up time is the only problem; the owner’s manual says it should reach maximum temperature in about 6 minutes not the 30 minutes I’m experiencing so I’ve asked Amazon for an exchange. Once I get the replacement grill I’ll return the defective one. In the meantime I see no reason not to use it.

    Powerful grill! Good searing capabilities with a few opportunities for improvementThis grill was exactly what we were after at the time:> Something we could use in our balcony> That heated up enough to grill a good steak> Easy to clean> Durable.It met those requirements for the most part, except:> LED light went out on temp control within a very short time and wasn’t honored as a warranty part,> It is relatively easy to clean except for the base,> The grill ended up tripping one of our plugs at home due to the high amp requirements. Eventually it caused a short and little fire on the plug, so it was time to switch.I’m giving another one a try this time. We had it for almost 5 years.

    Like all zojirushki appliances–Excellent.About 12 years ago I bought my first zojirushki appliance, the gourmet electric frying pan.. It was very innovative compare to electric fryer available at the time. It is very nonstick but still browns food easily and the lift out skillet can be cleaned with a wet paper tower, even if you burn it. The temperature dial was in degrees instead of words. Impressed I bought the “fuzzy logic” rice cooker which was also excellent but pricy for 10 years ago, about the same as it is today, $150. I learned zojirushki is a Japanese company and was making all it’s products in Japan (at that time). So when I saw they made an indoor grill I gave it a try and am again impressed after several failed indoor grills which were either really a griddle with ridges or a grill that did not get hot enough to brown well. This grill is in between a griddle and a grill, having enough solid cooking area to allow the heat to build up by reflective heat from the shiny metal tray below although the main heat source is the electric power in the grill grate itself.With just enough open grill spaces so food is more grilled than fried. Again, I think their engineering talent and understanding of consumer needs makes them one of the very best small appliance makers. Until several years ago all their products were made in Japan but I notice recently some of the less expensive versions are made in China. Like the rice cookers, their most expensive induction models are made in Japan but the less expensive ones are made in China. I doubt it makes much difference since zojirushki engineered it and no doubt has quality control over the finished product.I know nothing about their customer service since I have never had a problem with any of the 5 appliances I have, some over 12 years old. Initially I was surprised the temperature control was low. medium and high instead of degrees but then realized with a grill it’s always going to be on high when cooking and low when keeping food clean. No problems with cleaning any of their appliances. They are in the slightly higher price range but the quality and engineering is worth it. Whenever I need ( or just want) a new appliance I look for zojirushki first and tend to buy the more (if not most) expensive version. You do get what you pay for with this company.

    City Dweller Must HaveThis was a belated Christmas gift for my husband, who was devastated when the real estate developers came for the rented place where we had a yard and a beautiful kettle grill. We landed in a bigger, nicer place that’s ours for good, but there is no yard.The loss is real, and it doesn’t just belong to him. He loves grilling, and he does it beautifully. We ate like kings all summer long. So when he at first rejected the idea of an indoor grill, I persisted. And I did my homework.This grill (like pretty much every electric indoor grill) has a nonstick surface. It supposedly is PFOA free, but to my mind, the burden is on the manufacturer to prove chemical coatings are safe for their intended purposes, and there has not been a history of that from the chemical industry. Plus, the intended purpose here includes very high heat, which is where these things have historically tended to be least safe. SO – do NOT scratch this. FWIW, I have two other Zojirushi appliances with nonstick surfaces, neither of which has scratched a bit in 7 years for one, 9 for the other, and that is why I went with this brand.Pros:It really gets hot. It really gets REALLY hot. It actually sears and grills the food.Little to no smoke. Clean it correctly (those George Foreman indoor grill sponges are indispensable), put water in the drip pan, and ventilate your cooking area, and you will not set off all of the interconnected smoke alarms in your condo building.It’s big. Big enough to cook for a family of four. Easily.It’s fast. Probably because it’s hot.CONS:Cleaning it requires care and thought. If you miss dirt, it will smoke. If you scratch it, you kill it.One of the plastic tabs broke the first day as we were setting it up.It takes some creativity to approximate barbecue flavor.Even with those drawbacks, the whole family is happy with this purchase. It gets a lot of use, and it makes city-living a bit more home-y.If you get one (and I think you should), get these as well:George Foreman GFSP3 Sponges, 3-PackSherpa Pink Himalayan Salt (1lb Bag Extra-Fine Grain)Hickory Smoked (or whatever wood you like) Salt

    Good valueI bought this after seeing one my son brought over for a party. It’s easy to use, fairly easy to clean and we get excellent results with meat, fowl, fish and vegetables. It’s handy because it can be used indoors (with ventilation) or outdoors.
