Money well spent, great juicerDay 1 with the juicer…I was really excited to receive the Kuvings juicer, so got right down to it…read over the instruction book, which has very clear photos, and unpacked the unit. It came very well packaged, everything was in perfect condition, with triple boxes (thanks amazon.com!). When I lifted the main unit out of the box, I was impressed with its heaviness…this juicer will not walk across my counter, nor will it rattle when juicing. It is SUPER quiet, very impressed with this…I juiced a large orange, 1 peach from our backyard tree, a few baby carrots, and a small slice of peeled ginger, and they all went through the tube and turned into juice very efficiently and quickly. The juice was delicious, the machine stayed cool, and I was excited to get 9 oz of juice from those few items!Observations:1. This unit is made in Korea, so the recipe book, while very colorful, should have been translated a bit better as to sentence flow and spelling errors, but hey, I’m a librarian/teacher so I catch those things…2. In the recipe book, it was sometimes hard to read recipes printed in yellow or even peachy colors.3. There is one instruction book with directions for assembly and disassembly, and also a neat little plastic-y card that can be easily read, although once you do the assembly and take down, you should remember the steps.4. Assembly is very easy, with the red dots which need to be lined up clearly visible, and the markings for the ‘locked’ and ‘unlocked’ positions easily seen.5. I love the dark burgundy color, really jazzes up my counter.6. VERY quiet.7. Easy to clean, took me a few minutes to take things apart the first time, but the second time it was so simple…8. Small footprint, unlike my previous Jack LaLane, which was a beast on my counter9. Recipes could be more creative, but I have other juicing books, and there’s always the Web…Day 2 with the juicer…just revised my rating to a 5 star. Today I juiced 2 handfulls of baby spinach, some kale, half of an apple, and a whole peach. The suggestions in the manual are to let the leafy greens soak in water for 20 mins. or so. I had to use the pusher for the greens because they were small, and it helped getting them started, but once they did, that lovely green juice started to flow. Added the other ingredients, everything went smoothly. Because the items get pressed so well with the masticator, the pulp is extremely dry, and thus, doesn’t move through the pulp-ejector tube as freely – to help this, cut things up and alternate your items when you’re adding them to the feed tube. With all of the additional parts, not just the motor unit. Kuvings really stands behind their product, and I’m a happy juicer once again !

It’s OK (Update: No, it isn’t OK)UPDATE: I decided that I had spent too much money to NOT send it back.I tried this thing for a few weeks. I read all the reviews and the manual and got online and tried several different ways to make it work better for me. I am a serious juicer and this thing choked so often that I spent most of my time unclogging it rather than making my juice.The plug in the bottom is a very poor design. It keeps it from leaking and makes it very easy to clean, but it hinders the pulp from exiting the juicer so it can fall into the bin. This also results in the auger getting clogged.I would really consider this to be more of a centrifugal juicer.Also, the rest of my review about being easy to clean still stands and it is quiet. I tried very hard to like it because I am lazy and now I have to send it back. It would be great if all you had to do was carrots.I am getting an Omega now. It blows this thing away and costs less.________________________________________________________________ORIGINAL REVIEW:I got this juicer based on its reviews, while my Mom got an Omega at the same time based on its great reviews. This is, by far, the nicest juicer I have ever owned but I gave it four stars because now I can compare it side-by-side with the cheaper Omega(I can’t recall which model she bought).The biggest drawback to this one that I see is that it does not produce really dry pulp and leaves quite a bit in the basket with the auger. If I didn’t have my mom’s to compare it to, I wouldn’t have even noticed, but the Omega really gets a lot more juice out of the fruits and veggies. This one does a fine job, just not as great.This one is very easy to clean up (I rinse it right after I use it and that makes ALL the difference). It goes together easy and runs quietly. It is heavy and feels like a nice juicer. I was able to choke it on a beet though. Pretty badly. I had to cut the beet into tiny chunks after that. That was sad to see, but I was able to use reverse and then forward to get through it.The drawback with the Omega is that you have to cut things pretty small for the short, narrow mouth. That really isn’t much of an issue with this one. Other than that, I wish I would have gotten an Omega but I am too lazy to return my Kuvings and I like it well enough to keep it and use it for a long time.

Kuvings Silent Juicer without Smart Cap, black 220VI’m very pleased with my Kuvings, for the most. I just only has juiced apples, oranges and carrots, so far, but I’m gonna try some more “items”. I’t jammed a bit with carrots, but it was my fault, because I din’t cut them in smaller pieces enough, when I re cut them, the machine worked like a clock! My apples was a soft kind of apples, so the juice came out thick, but that does not worry me at all. This juicer is lack of that smart cap, which I think is a big minus. And the color is a ordinary black, not black pearl, which it should be, the headline says. But it does not matter me so much. My Kuvings works in 220 V, because I live in Europe. I tried to order that cap separately, but the delivery store on the internet store does not deliver to private customers, which is a big minus. I hope that Amazon.com will get those smart caps in stock soon, so I can order it from there. If this juicer had that smart cap, which I miss a lot, I had rated it with 5 stars! Otherwise I’m happy with it, only the price is not so happy thing=). My Kuvings cost a lot more because I had to pay extra because I live here in Europe.Actually 90 euro! For the duty and vat. Vat is very high in Finland. 24% to be exact. But although I’m satisfied with my juicer.

makes wonderful juice!These Kuvings juicers are REALLY well made, with powerful motors. They are built to last. I’ve only ever had this type of juicer (known as a ‘masticating’ juicer). I use mine primarily for dieting. They make outstanding, delicious juice.Now here’s the downside: they’re a pain in the you-know-what to clean. They must be disassembled and the leftover vegetable and fruit fiber has to be disposed of. Don’t let this put you off. BUT, if you are going to use one of these, here’s one big tip: clean them IMMEDIATELY, or almost immediately, after you juice. Then, cleaning them is EASY. Do NOT juice and then let them sit for a day before cleaning.Do that and you will love this juicer. What I do is make a big juice in the morning, drink 1/2 of it, and drink the rest later in the day. I clean the juicer once per day. And that works really well.
