Sublimation ovenI bought this to create mugs with sublimation. I bought two small thermometers for the inside and I’m glad I did. There is a 25 degree difference between the back and front of the oven. I used the Convection bake. On top of that, there is about a 50 degree difference from the back of the oven to the temperature I set it at. There also isn’t any sort of seal/gasket on the door, so I can certainly see why the temperature in the front is lower.I made a mug tonight and preheated at 400F. It got to about 350F. I bumped it up to 425F and it rose to a little over 400F and the front of the oven read 400F. I at least now know to preheat my oven with my thermometers and adjust the temp accordingly before placing my craft inside.I would be super displeased if my food was cooked in this. It with be cooked uneven/burned in the back I’m sure.

This oven is much bigger than you think!Even though I measured the space twice (and it fits in the space), I did not imagine that it would be as large, cumbersome, and the attention-getter that it is–comparable to a small Mack Truck. I have a tiny condo kitchen and need all the counter space I can find…this is like the toaster oven that ate Manhattan! You just can’t miss it. This would be fine in a very large kitchen but if you have limited counter space, this won’t work unless you need to bake a side of beef. It will take a good size roaster chicken or a ham. Another drawback is the infinitesimally small icons depicting the various functions: broil, bake, etc. You will need magnifying glasses to figure out what the icons are (unless you are a lilliputian, at which point you can walk right up to the dial, or better yet, you can make the oven your new home). There are two, yes two, toast buttons. It wasn’t until I found out that to toast you use the top left button and not the bottom right one. I was ready to return it until I found the 2nd button and got the toaster to work which only kind of works–if you like half-toasted light toast when set to its highest setting. Actually, I would return it if I could get it back into its box and drag it to Whole Foods. However, this would break both my back and my donkey’s. I would say that for the price, you can find a better deal. looks like I am stuck with this kluge. Good luck!

Not worth itThe convection feature is worthless. Cook times are no different than with my cheaper conventional toaster oven that died after after about 8 years of regular use. And this toaster oven doesn’t even heat evenly, which you’d think would be less of a problem if the convection feature worked right. As it is, anything to the back left gets done (or even burned) well before anything else.It also lasted less than 4 years, compared to my cheaper one lasting 8, even though I used the cheaper one far more than I ever used this one (about two years ago, I began cooking larger meals that required the full size oven rather than a toaster oven). The lady time I touched out was at least 2 weeks ago. I was sitting at my desk this morning when it randomly beeped. I went out to the kitchen to find the toaster oven’s lights on and flashing. For the most part, the buttons are unresponsive. At one point, they started responding, so I turned the temperature up to where I usually set it (for some reason, it was only at 150 degrees). After a few seconds, during which I want touching it, the temperature cycles all the way back down again on its own. When I tried changing it a second time, it appeared to switch to Celsius (which I didn’t even know was an option) and now nothing is responding again. Unplugging it didn’t help. So I guess it’s a kitchen paper weight now.Don’t waste your money, especially if you’re picking this one because of the convection coming. There are definitely toaster ovens that cost less, work better, and last longer.

You can easily put it away when unneededI chose this particular toaster oven because of the buttons. I’ve seen so many that have the dials and I wasn’t a fan of them. If you know how a toaster oven works, this is one of them.PRO:- Small, light, portable. It’s very light, the weight on this thing is astoundingly low. You can easily put it away when unneeded.-Heating. Obviously it will heat up fast as toaster ovens do. I like to put a sandwich in the middle and turn it on. The default is like 4 minutes which is way too much. 2 at most from completely off will melt cheese and toast bread.CON:-Awkward. Since it’s so small and light, it’s often a weird fumbling to take food out. Some sort of ‘tray lock’ would be great so I can just slide out my sandwich instead holding the (hot) tray and plate and sandwich and navigating the hot door/sides. Phew-Too small. Now that I think about it.. It’s kinda too small. The main issue would be the door doesn’t fully open. It’s like an 85° opening. A flat 90° would be good and more excellent. But the fact that I almost burn myself on the glass door while removing something is dangerous. (-1 Star for all my food fumbling)-Hot spots. I made a pizza with the pizza settings. One side of it was more cooked than the other (aka. the back was more burnt than the front). The instructions don’t say turning the food midway through cooking is recommended. That’s really all to say. I really do like it.

Decent, but missing some thingsThe first one of this toaster oven arrived with the electrical/control panel broken, it was easily and promptly replaced by Amazon with an easy return process. The second one arrived intact and in working condition. It was in THREE boxes though. The outer box from Amazon with shipping info. The second box was the shipping box from Black & Decker. The third and final box was the retail package box – this box was upside down from the outer two boxes, but it was ok in because the toaster oven itself was upside down in the retail package box. :/Pros: The convection fan is quiet, and is only activated for the Bake, Pizza, and Reheat settings. The digital display & pre-heat features are nice, I have MUCH more confidence that this toaster oven is reaching the exact temperature I want. My old one had an analog dial so I didn’t even know what precise temperature I was choosing, let alone if the oven was at that temperature.Cons: The only ‘protective’ strip for the heating elements is on the side facing the door, there’s nothing between the heating elements and the food. For toast & pizza & other things I place directly on a rack without a baking sheet, I’m afraid this will make things messy & difficult to clean. The digital display will show the oven temperature &/or the remaining time. For some reason, getting this digital display to show a clock was too challenging?

A conditional thumbs upThe Good:Looks nice on the counter. The surface finish is nice. Display is back lit blue with large easy to read characters and a brightly lit background. One user reported fire hazard issue but construction of the unit I received was not like his and therefore can’t be an issue. I don’t see a problem with the graphics on the buttons wearing off as long as you push the buttons on the edge. The Bad:Like most items bought these days, it seems rather flimsy. Very thin walled and so light the weight of the door almost causes it to tip forward. The crumb tray is useless, it is a sheet of metal with no sides to speak of and slides into a small slit under the front door. So when you pull it out to clean it the crumbs are scrapped of into the bottom of the oven. The little pan is useless, makes one think it should have come with an “Easy Bake Oven”. The top gets extremely hot. The rake is poorly constructed as well, extremely thin center bars.Verdict:I would buy it again, but it seems over priced given the quality of construction. I guess I was expecting more from Black and Decker.

Fancy and functionalMy first reaction upon opening this was, ” it’s beautiful!” I mean, it has such a wow factor and adds a touch of fancy to my counter. I was also surprised how light it is. Being a person who moves often, this is a plus.I wondered if it would work as well as it looks. I initially got it because my apartment is poorly air condioned and I live where the temperatures reach almost 100. Using the oven, and even stovetop in the afternoon isn’t feasible. I didn’t believe this would do a great job and not heat the house. Well it exceeded my expectations! The chicken I cooked, was thoroughly cooked, skin was crispy, and meat was juicy! All done quickly! Also the muffins I made turned out great too! I’m so glad I purchased this, and will continue to use it daily! On the muffins, I made a full pan but ate them before snapping a pic
