Great PurchaseMine gets used pretty much every day, sometimes twice a day. Came in handy when the AC broke and needed to cook dinner without heating up the whole house. Toasting function is convenient- love that it can toast 4-6 slices (depending on bread size) in one go. I use it for larger slices of bakery breads. Frozen sliced bread comes out lightly crispy but not browned on 4 (about 5-6 min). Room temp bread is slightly golden brown on same setting. Preheat settings are a little tricky. It has a set preheat temp and then you have to preheat AGAIN to go any higher. It comes with pans however they are pretty cheap (with the exception of the wire tray which is very sturdy). I purchased some Nordicware half baking sheets and they fit perfectly on top of the oven rack. Bake/Broil function work well for small dishes. I have found that it struggles with “heavy roasting” or anything with too much moisture. Works well for broiling fish or a few portions of meat. I have not used the Turbo Convection function so maybe that’s the key. There is a fan vent on the side that blows hot air while oven is heating/cooking/cooling. Make sure you have enough clearance on the *right side as oven is facing you*. Also, Cool Touch is for front, sides, and top only. The back of the oven gets hot like an oven. Move it away from the wall and keep the back side clear of debris and tiny hands. It’s a really well made appliance. Looks beautiful and sleek on the countertop….you’re gonna want it out where people can see it. Soft-close oven door (love that it does not slam shut). Easy to clean the inside and nice, bright oven lamp to see your food without opening, and goes out automatically after a min or two (keeps the bulb from burning out). Beeps are not too loud or annoying/repetitive. You get 2 clear, short beeps or one medium half second beep that can be heard across the room w/the TV on. Maybe a third “reminder” beep if you’re moving slow getting that chicken breast on the pan. Great extended warranty compared to what’s offered by most companies these days. For me it was 3 year warranty plus you can add the Asurion on top.

Life changing!LOVE LOVE this little oven! We are doing a remodel and I needed to choose one thing to have to make meals for the next few months… and two weeks in, I am in LOVE with this little machine. Makes me question why I’m doing a kitchen remodel LOL! Now I need to find a place to keep this powerful little guy in full swing for the future! It does it all!!

High Quality Build and MaterialsIf you’re looking at the Breville Smart Oven Pro with Air Fry, we had it… the Calphalon is much better. More solid. Looks better. I would go with this over the Breville 10 out of 10 times

Overall very pleased.I was considering this oven and the Breville Smart Pro Countertop oven (which surprisingly was less expensive, even if marginally so) and finally decided on the Calphalon for two reasons: first, I have a cat who sits on top of the microwave in the kitchen so she can stare at the dog when he eats and I was concerned she’d jump on a countertop oven while in use and give herself a nasty burn. The cool touch feature on this oven won me over.Second, I bake bread year round and in the summer my gas range really heats up my kitchen. When I saw the step cook function with proof/bake I was completely sold and ordered it (and yes, a 9×5 bread pan with a lip on both ends fits easily in this oven.)Another big plus was the interior light. Not many of these countertop ovens feature it but it’s important to be able to check on the progress of your food without opening the door and letting out heat. The build just screams quality. The finish is beautiful and the Calphalon logo on the (very solid) handle as well as on the top of the unit shows attention to detail. The door glides open and shut quietly and doesn’t clang or rattle. Even the included accessories look fairly high in quality. And it looks elegant in my kitchen and not trashy like the old toaster ovens always did. I have it on a finished wood kitchen island and to avoid scorching the wood I have a thick silicone mat underneath it. It preheats quickly and all of the various functions work well.By the way, I’ve made french fries in it using the dehydrator basket and the oven set to Turbo Convection and the fries turned out crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. It actually does a better job than my air fryer, although obviously I wouldn’t put something like wings in this basket. But for fries it’s great. If I have a quibble it’s the utterly inadequate user manual that’s included. It’s more of a pamphlet than an actual user manual and it tells you in the (one page) of densely written text that forms the actual user manual portion of this pamphlet that if you need further usage instructions to go to their website. Seriously? It doesn’t even cover one of the unique and most important features advertised on this oven, the step cook function, and I’m supposed to scrabble around on Calphalon’s website to find this information? Not acceptable to make the consumer hunt for instructions that should be included with the oven. I want a full manual in hand and not this cheaply produced pamphlet. Calphalon, do better.

Quality ProductWell made. Good price. Took ME some time to figure out how to operate. Probably my issue. When I reached out to customer service, I received prompt and excellent response.

Cool MachineAm new to the air fryer cooking process but this item seems to do it well, and the other selections (broil, toast, bake etc) so far have performed equally as well. The feature I like best is that it does not heat up the kitchen like the old toaster oven. Exterior stays cool, is fairly quiet and works well for my needs and I am satisfied with the quality of the unit, solid materials that seem sturdy to last a while. I recommend this product.

Much safer with so many more options. This was a no-brainer buy. I hope the industry follows what Calphalon is doing now. The product is similarly priced as other top of the line units but with a few great differences. 1) The insulated exterior – sides and front. Much better heat conduction within and much safer around the family. The bottom and back get hot. The top eventually gets a bit hot but much safer with all the insulation. 2) The unit is very quiet! 3) Proofing! Wow, finally a countertop unit that maintains 90 degrees to proof yeast and is definitely used to maintain 90 degrees to allow dough to rise. 4) The reheat option works well. I was able to reheat a cheese quesadilla in 9 minutes at 350 degrees. 5) Very adjustable temperature control. 6) No doors to slam closed. This units downward swing door is weighted well. You remain in full control of the opening and closing for your own safety! 7) Yes, for safety, this unit has a two foot electrical cord. This is standard and safe practice. 8) The plug does not get hot during use. 9)There is a fan that runs for a period of time to cool the unit, if necessary, after use. 10) Yes, unplug it for safety. 11) Removable bottom tray for crumb disposal. 12) Adjustable rack – two positions. 13) Preheating to 400 degrees is quick – maybe 4 minutes. 14) The thermostat is accurate to within industry standards. My ancient oven thermometer measured 380 degrees when this unit was set to 400. The controls allow you to adjust the temperature should you want to be picky about that. 15) A three year warranty! Oh yeah!THE DRAWBACKS 1) The pizza pan in not vented on the bottom. It is of fine quality though. 2) It takes a long time to toast bread. 3) This thing is bigger than your standard cheapo toaster/oven. Measure and make sure you have enough vent space on top, back and sides per manufacturers instructions. 4) Weight is around 30 pounds.

first impressions…First: I paid for this oven, so this review is unbiased.I found it to be well packaged, and it had a nice overall feel. After unpackaging it, I noticed the knob motion is poor. The otherwise nice appliance loses something when you turn the knobs. It’s rough to turn, and catches at one spot. There is rubber on the back of the handle, where you grab it to open the oven. This is fine, as long as it doesn’t break down, as some do.A quick test of the unit (450F for 1 minute):I set the controls, press start. preheated, then you’re supposed to put your food in, then press start again. The heat doesn’t turn off when you open the door. A quick test with my IR temp probe gave me almost right at 450F. Exterior fan on the right stayed on throughout preheat and a while past when the oven stopped. It does stay cool on the sides and top (at least, during my preheat+1-minute test).I found the controls to be intuitive. The manual is extremely short. The crumb tray interferes with the door. The door closes fine, but it pushes the crumb tray up. It’s better if installed backwards, so the raised handle of the crumb tray is in the back. I contacted Calphalon customer service about this, and got the runaround. Eventually I was directed to an email address “[email protected]”. Unfortunately, they didn’t seem to read my email, and just started an RMA process. So now I know their customer service is terrible.Lots of accessories included: A rack, pizza pan (unventilated), a roasting pan, a wire basket. Unfortunately, the two rack positions are very close together, and it probably isn’t realistic to use two levels at once. The pizza pan didn’t do well for my rising crust Digiorno frozen pizza. The top of the pizza looked great, but the bottom was soggy and underdone. I believe a perforated pan would have made the difference. To find one that fits, it can’t exceed 12 inches.I put this shelf over it: https://amazon.com/gp/product/B0823SFVW3 so we would have a safe place to put pans or trays of cooked food without worying about damanging the oven or heating whatever was on top too much. Perfect fit, and helps minimize anything behind from getting too close.Overall, after baking one item, I think the oven will be fine. It has a few good features, such as the cool sides. But the controls don’t feel as nice as they should for the price, and customer service is nearly non-existent. Will I return it? No, unless something else goes wrong. Would I get it again, knowing what I do now? Probably not.

So far so really good! This is my first time using it to make a tuna casserole. So far it’s been easy to use extremely well packaged when I got here and is baking like a champ. I haven’t tried toast toast in the toaster oven yet, but it’s gotta do a better job than the ninja foodie air fryer piece of you know what that it is replacing. Truly cool to the touch, and it hasn’t heated my kitchen up at all in the hundred degree Texas weather.

Excellent oven replacementThis is a great replacement for a standard oven. It is much faster to preheat. If you have an old oven, this can add some more modern bells and whistles to your kitchen without the expense of an oven replacement. Mine is very accurate right out of the box. The down side? This oven has the same power as my previous, smaller toaster oven which is 1800 Watts which is effectively the limit for the standard 20 Amp fuse. This becomes important when you toast bread and bagels. The smaller toaster oven was more concentrated heat in a smaller area which produced better toasts and incredible toasted sandwiches. Toasting in this toaster produces more of a dried bread crust rather than a beautiful toast. This is true of all the ovens with larger internal volumes, not just this brand and model. Hitting bread with concentrated direct heat produces better toast than hitting it with lots of circulating hot air as convection ovens do. Yes, this is a better all around device with capacity to perform tasks the previous one could not but not without a cost.
