Nice small oven once you learn the controlsNote – Amazon is mixing together the reviews of different models with different features and specifications. It does this to fool you into thinking there are more buyers than there really are. One star off for odd quirky user interface and beep that is not loud enough. The fan has to be reset to run each time you bake if power was interrupted. The fan is very very quiet, you have to open the door in a quiet room to hear it and the flow is barely adequate to call this convection. I bought this because of its lower 1300 watt rating which is less likely to blow a breaker when other things are turned on in the same circuit. [2022 model has 1500 watts] 1300 IS enough power even when the oven is full and it warms reasonably fast. This will barely take a 12 inch pizza using the pan provided. I frequently use four small mini-loaf pans for fast baking. They pretty much all heat the same without rotating them. If you fill a tray with french fries there is one area that browns a bit faster. This does air fry with the provided basket but the wimpy fan means more time needed. I have used this almost a full year now as my only oven. The LED light is useful but like the other controls, you have to learn the quirk of holding down the light button or tap it twice to get it to light for a 10 second timed period.

Nice big capacity, easy to useAs someone who lives in the South and spends most of my time trying to avoid the outside heat, I am an avid user of toaster ovens so that I don’t have to use any more electricity than necessary to cool my home (especially in the summer). This is probably my 5th toaster oven in 10 years (they never seem to hold up to my chronic use). Anyway, I decided to try this toaster oven due to the size and what appeared to be the ease of use, and also the different functions. I have had it for over a month now and I use it daily. This particular oven is the biggest I have ever owned and I am happy with the size – it does fit comfortably on my kitchen counter, but if you have a smaller kitchen it may not work. The functions are pretty standard for this type of toaster oven (although it does have a dehydrate function which I have not seen before and which I have yet to use). I like the fact that the buttons and the knobs are fairly intuitive and pretty much anyone can figure out how to use this toaster oven without deep knowledge of the unit. That being said, there is one thing I do NOT like about this oven and my husband can attest to the stupidity of this: Once the oven is preheated, you must press the ‘Start’ button again for the timer to start working and for the oven to continue to heat. If you fail to do this, the oven will not heat and you will end up with raw or still frozen food after you thought that the food should be finished cooking. I do not know why Calphalon decided to require that you hit ‘Start’ again after the oven has pre-heated (rather than just continuing the cook cycle like most other toaster ovens), but it is a pain in the arse if you are not paying attention. Otherwise, the heat settings do work as they are supposed to. I usually cook bacon in my toaster oven and in other toaster ovens usually my settings are at 375 degrees in the bake mode for 15-17 minutes (depending on the unit) to get perfectly brown crisp bacon. In this unit, I can set it for 375 degrees in the bake mode, for 16 minutes and it makes perfectly brown crisp bacon. The oven is easy to clean and I like the fact that there is a tray underneath that I can pull out to clean any drippings or crumbs on the bottom (my last Cuisinart did not have this tray and it was a PITA to clean). Overall, so far this is a very good buy and I am happy with the purchase. It is priced well considering its size and functions. The only question is how long will it last compared to my other toaster ovens.

BEWARE OF FIRE HAZARD !I’m updating my review as I recently got asked “whats that rubber smell ?”.You all need to understand that the back of the over is a simple sheet of formed tin. There is no double wall, there is no external temp dampening. The back of it will get just as hot as the inside of it. ANY POWER CABLE(S) PUSHED AGAINST THE BACK OF THE OVEN WILL MELT, AND ARE A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. PLEASE KEEP THE BACK AT LEAST 4″ FROM THE WALL, AND DO NOT LET ANYTHING COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE BACK WALL.PROS:- Cool brushed dark grey finish (it’s not black).- The LED readout has a near black background with light blue display.- The door closes with a quiet bump. It’s sound-dampened.- The door has a solid feel to it.- The grills and baskets slide into metal slots instead of wall patterns, which is more like a regular oven.- The LED light is awesome (how’s its plastic cover doesn’t melt is a mystery for the ages).- The quartz elements are great, and are awesome for fast heat-ups.- It “emulates” a top shelf feel.CONS:- The round knobs/dials are plastic and covered with a tinnish metal overlay to emulate true die-cast metal dials. So to be clear, the dials ARE NOT CAST METAL…they are plastic, styled to look that way.- The plastic knobs wobble a bit, detracting from the “top shelf” vibe.- Having to be there to push the start button a second time AFTER the pre-heat has done is dumb. If you’re not there to push it after the pre-heat it will just stop and nothing gets cooked.- The light shuts off after around 20 seconds after pressing its button. I like it not staying on indefinitely, but a minute would be better.- The BACK GETS VERY HOT (no insulation – just the oven wall) so don’t let any cords touch it, or they will melt. Arrange the back wiring so nothing touches the back of the oven.- The walls and top also cannot be touched while its running, so be aware. It’s a 3 1/2-star device that wants to be 4 or more stars. I would of gladly paid the extra dollar or two for true die-cast metal controls. That is a cop-out and annoys the crap out of me. They knew better, but did it anyway. The back has no structure. It’s just the oven wall against whatever is behind the oven. It’s is a potential fire hazard. I feel the need to look behind every time I use it. Power cords will melt against the back, and then who knows…

Awesome Oven, Pretty Decent Toast!!!!!I read so many reviews before I made this purchase. The Calphalon name had a lot to do with why I considered this above a Ninja or even Emeril’s Oven. But lets get down to it:The design is clean and simple, and I love the Dark Slate Grey/Stainless Steel color combinationThe control knobs are an interesting choice, though very responsive they connect to a digital screen, one allows you to navigate the cooking options and the other sets time and temperature. I do wonder how they will hold up over time, but I plan on having this for a minimum of 5 years. I bought my last EuroPro Toaster Oven in 2006…Corona 2020 Killed it (you do the math). The Calphalon heats up pretty quickly, but making toast is proving to be a little more difficult than I expected. There are 7 levels of toasting and Level 3 barely warms frozen toast (I keep my bread in the freezer) and level 7 turns it to charcoal… Sooo….Toast is always an adventure .But cooking!!!! I’ve done burgers, wings, made a cake, even scalloped potatoes!!!! All turned out amazing. The one issue the other comments have mentioned is the preheat setting. After selecting the cooking mode and time, click start and the oven begins to preheat to get to the desire setting. Once it reaches that temperature IT WILL STOP.SIMPLE FIX!!! Add a couple extra minutes to your cook time, and DOUBLE TAP THE START BUTTON! That’s right!!! TAP IT TWICE! This starts the Timer while its preheating and allows the oven to keep cooking.JUST TAP THE START BUTTON TWICE!!!(If this is the only part you read while scanning through reviews)JUST TAP THE START BUTTON TWICE!!!ENJOY!!!

It’s pretty goodWish there was more vertical room within the oven. The temperature is not as precise as I would like; but it’s close. For the most part, it’s as good as any conventional oven, and most of the time, I adjust the temperature up by about 25 degrees F. But this is common for smaller conventional ovens anyways. It works well. My wife is not tech minded, and she’s learned how to use it; that was a major concern for me. It’s built very well overall. There are lots to like about this oven; I do wish that it could air fry; but the temperature control is pretty good; the light that turns off by itself, good construction, relative easy to use. Has good door seals.I’ve had it for about 4 months. We use it a lot for pizza. We also use it for smaller things like a small conventional oven for cakes, corn bread, etc. I would seriously consider buying it again if I needed to. Really good oven for 1 to 2 people that don’t want to clean a larger oven.I tried other ovens, some close to this price range; they worked OK’ish at best; some with wild temp swings; haven’t experienced that yet with this oven. Other small ovens, I’ve turned it on, and while set for 375, the temps inside were as far as about 525 to 575; so an oven that is this close and this well built is a blessing. Another oven- melted it’s control knobs because its doors lacked seals.Someday, I might luck out and find a better small conventional oven; but until that day, this one will do.

Great all around toaster… This one replaced the previous model. This toaster is great for every day use… pizzas, nuggets, bagels, toast, all works great. We replaced the previous Calphalon model with this one after many years of use.

Wonderful toaster ovenDid quite a bit of research before finally settling on this particular model. This toaster oven works wonderfully. In defense of this or any toaster oven…toast in a regular toaster is closer to the heating element and will always take a shorter amount of time and also toast more evenly. I did not put a thermometer in the oven to guarantee the temperature is what it was set to be. Use a toaster oven for most of baking/broiling needs. Have cooked chicken, fish, pork, pizza, garlic bread, french fries, etc., as well as reheating leftovers so they don’t get soggy in the microwave. Food cooked to perfection with no problems. This is well made. The top does get hot but so did the top of my last toaster oven. Cools down quickly after cooking. Easy to clean. Crumb tray easy to remove. Glass door has rubber gasket on sides. Light is a great addition and is on a timer. Convection fan is practically silent. Rack is well constructed and has a slot to slide the baking pan into (can also place pan on top of rack). Two slot heights to choose from for placing rack in oven. Pizza pan is great (my last toaster oven did not come with one). Also new to the air fryer rack. Oven is deep. Preheat feature beeps when up to temperature. Oven does shut off if you don’t put the item in the oven and press start within a reasonable amount of time. Once you are tuned in to the beep, you’ll respond in time. Calphalon has a great reputation and this toaster oven did NOT disappoint. A+

Aesthetically pleasing garbageThis is an update to a review I left a month ago on Calphalon’s website. In that review I described what would be this product’s apparent death spiral. It was first heralded by incomplete responsiveness to user controls and the machine randomly turning itself on and beeping in the night. The only way to ensure it wouldn’t do this was to keep it unplugged from power. It then progressed to randomly aborting and then resuming cook programs, which would either undercook or incinerate food. At that point the only recourse to stop cooking was to unplug the machine. Now the machine is simply unresponsive to any input, and still beeps incessantly when plugged in. Essentially it’s now a massive noise box and fire hazard.Calphalon responded to that initial review with a copy-pasted paragraph with a link to yet another form. I submitted that form weeks ago and have not received any response. I wanted to add this review update to detail the machine’s demise and the utter lack of customer service input from Calphalon, despite their assertion that this machine is still within warranty. I don’t see the value in their warranty if they don’t actually respond to inquiries. To add insult to injury, Calphalon moderated this review from their website saying it was “legally sensitive” and “customer service focused”. I’m not sure why either label was applied, and part of selling an attractive product is to stand behind it.Disappointing to say the least. Buyer beware.

Very nice…..This is a very nice over. It toast breads evenly. The one complaint I have is that sometimes it makes a weird noise when using it and sometimes it doesn’t. I don’t understand why it does that but it does work and I like it. The price can be a tad bit cheaper also.

Fantastic machineWhen my older toaster finally gave up I spent a lot of time researching a new one and this is what I ended up getting. It has a lot of different heating selections and heats up quickly. Everything I have used this for has come out perfectly. I would definitely recommend it.
