Love this thingI had this toaster oven for 10 years before it died on me. I initially went for a different, fancier model to replace it, but ended up returning it twice due to defects in the build quality. I just decided to go back to what I know works, and if I can still find this one in another 10 years, I’ll do it again.

Doing what I need it to…and more!I use my counter-top oven a lot. So when my trusty Black & Decker croaked, I went shopping for a new one of those first. But the reviews everywhere were NOT good. Then I saw the reviews for this. Never heard of Maxi-Matic before, but I’m glad I went ahead and got it!I’ve tried roasting, rotisserie, grilling, toasting and baking. Still trying to get the feel for baking in this. I think it’s just a matter of learning it’s cooking and heating patterns. But the rest? OMG…I will never buy a rotisserie chicken store-cooked again. It cooked up my bird quickly, evenly and with great flavor. And my roasted chicken came out tasty and nicely golden, too, while stil being moist on the inside. My toast has come out just right each time, though it helps that I am not super picky. I didn’t buy it for the top thingy, but I grilled up sausage and eggs while toasting my bread one morning. Nice. What’s really impressed me is how quickly it cooks…without the convection feature that I’ve had for years and wasn’t certain I was willing to give up. Nope…don’t miss it.I saw some comments about the heat. OK…it’s an OVEN. Duh. They get hot. But only to the touch…neither my counter below or behind, nor the things sitting on the counter beside it, nor the base of the cabinet above it have gotten the slightest bit warm. If I still had small children of a size to reach it, it would be a matter of being IN the kitchen to watch it or with them watching that they didn’t go INTO the kitchen. While also teaching them that ovens are HOT…don’t touch! But that’s equally true with my large oven. Also saw some comments about clean up. I was actually amazed at how quickly this thing cleaned up. I didn’t wait very long to do the cleaning. I wiped it down as soon as it was cool enough to do so after roasting and after eating dinner when I rotisseried. Everything came right off. Nothing left on the sides, the bottom, the elements, the top or the door. Very easy. But I can see it being a problem if you let it sit for a while. I could wish the baking pan was not so sticky and easier to clean, but will probably replace it with a better nonstick toaster oven baking pan.All in all, being a great toaster oven + more so far.

another great little oven!I have been a countertop oven user for 20 yrs-even when my three children were @ home. Takes up less space and uses less energy. With the invention of the microwave, who needs a big stove. I use a countertop 2 burner hotplate also. When my Maximatic ERO2006S (which I stumbled upon @ a discount warehouse) retired after many years (6-8) of faithful service, after much searching for the perfect replacement and finding many worthy contenders, I stuck w/Maximatic and went for the upgrade (Elite Professional ExLarge-23L-ERO2008S) which is a better value, I think, than the ERO2006S and definately worth the extra money. This little oven is a big bang for the buck. I just love it. Rotisserie, broil, roast, bake, steams? griddle and oh yeah-makes great toast too. Roomy enough to roast 6-8 lb (at least) chicken or turkey breast. W/separately purchased pizza stone-a pizza oven. W/separately purchased steamer-a veggie steamer as well.Listing @ just $10.00 more than its older model, Maximatic has kicked it up a notch or two. W/its updated snazzier look and larger size (height & width pretty much the same but depth, front to back is where most of the extra room is). Also much roomier cooking top. Profile is angled w/more room near the bottom which gives it a nice look. Looks much better than as pictured. This one has a ‘stay on’ and timer function w/bell too. Yay!The roomier multi-use top is very handy (why don’t they all do this ???). The well thought out combo design enables the heat in the top to be put to good use as a steamer and warmer when roasting/baking/broiling. This was the biggest reason for choosing Maximatic in the first place and then replacing it w/the newer model. The top used as griddle is another cooking option (though seems somewhat cramped).I was hoping a standard 9×13 would fit, but 2 8×8 works too. I have located some great cookware that does fit so not a priority or problem. The brand is not well known @ least to me. The price was right for my first Maximatic and I was in a bind so I grabbed it, but would never have purchased an unknown or little-known brand if given a choice. The first one did not disappoint and I’m hoping this one will last as that one did.

Good rotisserie but you must use very small chicken!I purchased this primarily for the rotisserie function. The chicken was cooked perfectly in the end, but there were three problems at the start:(1) I did not push the skewer hard enough into the wall of the oven. If your chicken does not rotate, make sure you have the skewer in deeply enough.(2) I thought I had the chicken trussed tightly, but a turn or two was all it took and the thing was flopping around. Tie your chicken up so tightly that it seems absurd.(3) My chicken was under 4 pounds and it kept scraping against the roof of the oven. I had to take the griddle from the top and invert it, which meant a loose fit. (I do suggest keeping the griddle in there in some way, because there are exposed burners and the lid on top does not fit tightly. It seemed too dangerous not to have that second level of protection and I still consider this approach too dangerous if you have children, pets, or anyone who might jar the top loose. Seriously, this is not a safe method, it was just the only one that worked.)By the way, I’d say that you should NEVER use it directly underneath cabinets or anything else, even if you keep the griddle in the original position. If you don’t have 3 feet of clearance above it, then don’t use it.So, in short, it is too small for most chickens and workarounds may be needed for anything above 3 pounds. But, the chicken did come out well in the end.

Love it!It comes with a complete manual including recipes everything on it works phenominally minus one hitch of your cooktop having an uneven heated surface n mines already sloping in the center some after around 10 uses of the oven/griddle. As far as a 5 lb chicken goes you’d have to perfectly get in centered on the rod and it can be tricky getting it out. I’ve only done 22oz game hens (which cooked up beautifully) and i wouldn’t attempt over 4, I’d think with 5 you’d be touching the roof which you can take off n clean easy since it’s the bottom side of the griddle but your heating elements aren’t to far away. Love the tool it came with for inserting n removing your rotisserie items just lift up on the one side once you have it hooked in the crevas on the rod slide it down the track closest to it while pulling out the gear end. The forks are completely removable, nice bonus for cleaning and hold on tight. The tool for the rack is awesome and can be used to remove rimless pans along with the shelves and it does hold a can of chili plus hot dogs worth of weith easily. I love the door, smooth n has a stop before closing so you can leave it cracked. So far everythings been very easy to clean, the roasring pan does have a touch of discoleration in one spot where it was thinner liquids while roaating the hen. Has 4 sturdy feet that keep it up off your counter around n inch or so and the texture of the finish feels really nice and durable. Overall i love the item n would definitely purchase it again and recommend it to anyone!

Very Happy with Just One IssueI bought this for my wife who wants to make herself rotisserie chicken Although it has many different features and attachments, that is the function that I will be using it for primarily. This is a fantastic small unit for someone who does not have a tone of counter space. Additionally it can function as a convection oven and toaster oven. The rotisserie function works fantastically and if you set it up right is remarkable easy to clean. I simply line the bottom tray with tin foil and let it drip onto that. It is also pretty easy to get your chicken or roast onto the spit and if the operation isn’t self explanatory enough, there is an easy to use guide. The only problem that I have is with regard to the heating elements, It can be difficult to insert and extract the food that you are cooking on the rotisserie (not because it is hot, there is an attachment for easily removing the hot food while still on the spit). The spit attachment is almost exactly as long as the interior is wide and as such it is a little difficult to pull out. In addition if you use a dry rub or sauce and it brushes against the naked heating coil, it started smoking as soon as it heats up, much like with grease on the bottom of an oven. All in all a great buy for the price, I would definitely suggest this for anyone looking for a quality convection oven/ Rotisserie at a great price.
