Soda Water In SecondsThe iSi Classic Mesh Sodamaker is quick and easy to use. You get the flavor of soda water in under a minute. Since the bubbles are extremely small, you don’t see them in the dispenser or your glass (although the flavor is definitely there). The bottle is plastic and wrapped in a metal mesh. The design is retro, nostalgic and nice looking (although most of the parts are plastic). If you’re looking for seltzer with larger bubbles, I’d try a different product. However, if you want authentic soda water to make cocktails, the iSi Classic Mesh Sodamaker is the way to go.

NOT GLASS, but still GOOD qualityI purchased this unit thinking that it would be glass. I was bummed for an entire day when it arrived and found that it wasn’t. Nevertheless, I decided to keep it because, aesthetically, it is very pleasing; and the stainless steel mesh is sturdy and provides a good amount of weight/structure to the product–especially when filled with water. I read that the glass versions can be a bit heavy for some folks, and I thought this might make it a bit unwieldy in a busy cocktail/dinner party setting, which I often host–while also indulging in a state of inebriation. I convinced myself that a glass version might be too much of a risk in such a setting, being that I’ve also read too many reviews of them exploding under pressure.Aside from the safety aspect, there are several details worth noting that make the quality stand out. I like that the spout, activating lever, and the tube are all stainless steel. The tube is also permanently affixed to the rubber gasket which means you can shake the unit without having to worry about it detaching–as in other models I read about. The soda head, dust cap, pressure adjusting cap/top, and charger holder are all thick, hardened plastic–except the the soda head internals. I wish these were all metal, but they appear to have been manufactured quite well and sturdy. The charger holder also has a hard rubberized butt-end–not sure of the reason for this; to absorb impact? The mesh is sturdy being that it’s made from stainless steel–which adds the rigidity and weight to the entire product, but note that it is a mold casting which is only mimicking the look of the woven aluminum braiding or stainless steal links of a classic soda siphon. I suppose this makes sense for manufacturing purposes today–which call for a plastic bottle. Nevertheless, it still looks good sitting on your counter or bar. The metal mesh also helps to keep the contents cold while not in the refrigerator.I provided all the details above because these were the very answers I was seeking when searching for the right soda siphon. Although, I preferred the look and manufacturing quality of many of its components, I might have chosen the competing glass model over this one–simply because I did not have these answers and because of the glass. However, now that I have had the opportunity to inspect and use this product closely, I am thoroughly happy with the purchase. I hope this review is helpful to everyone, especially for the consumer seeking a classic and/or glass siphon. I will update my review in the future, should my thoughts change over more thorough use.One more thing: I should knock off one more star just because I think the seller might be capitalizing on consumers searching for glass soda siphons–most likely by identifying “glass” as a keyword search term for their product. However, I partially blame Amazon as well for not having more control on this. When I search for GLASS soda siphon on Amazon, I expect to get back results for GLASS soda siphons. This product shows up in the top 3 of my search results. Nevertheless, I will maintain the 4-star rating because it is still a well fabricated product and the seller did not make an outright claim of it being glass even though they were vague. Too many people on Amazon fault a product for the seller’s mistake/oversight, despite the actual product being good and deserving of a rating based on it’s marketed specs and targeted consumer. Amazon really should have separate rating systems for sellers and products, since inaccurate/vague product descriptions, poor communication, or bad shipping experiences are no fault of the product itself.

SuperbVery powerful carbonation.Easy to use.Make sure you read the instructions before you use it.I didn’t and my first use was a disappointment.I am very happy with this purchase.Ever since, I haven’t bought any canned or bottled carbonated water. It has been a very welcome addition during this hot summer.I am thinking about getting a second one.It is plastic. So what. It is very durable.

Works great, I only wish it were glassAfter reading mixed reviews about this, I was apprehensive, but took a chance and I’m pleasantly surprised. I’ve owned a few iSi products, and they’re always commercial-grade quality with no room for improvements in design or manufacturing. This bottle isn’t built to the commercial-grade iSi standard, but it’s still durable and useable on a daily basis. The mesh around the bottle is tight and well-affixed, while the fail-safe design is clever and impressive- it’s impossible to overfill the bottle. The provided iSi chargers give a good amount of carbonation, so overall I consider this a 4 out of 5 star item, my only wish is that the bottle was glass, rather than plastic.

Perfect reproduction of a seltzer bottlePerfect repo of the seltzer bottle. This is half the size of one I have from the 1920s (which is missing a part) this one works and delivers the seltzer water. One can use other co2 charged bottles, by using co2 charging systems with the plastic bottles you get with sodas, which I have to keep large bottles of soda charged up with co2. This could work for that also but this is less ability to clean as verses the isi bottles that are ment to handle all types of food and drink and can be cleaned. Pro: looks great as an on the counter to dispense seltzer /mineral water with co2. Cost higher than some other products but they don’t look as cool 😊 over time cost works out cheaper than buying cans of mineral water

better than expectedI was a bit worried that this is a plastic bottle. However, it’s very thick plastic, and seems very durable. This is the first time I’ve made my own seltzer water, but decided to do so for cost. Yes, there is an upfront cost of this bottle, but you can fill it with a CO2 cartridge for about $0.50. On top of that, it stays fresh longer than an opened bottle of soda water.A couple notes: The way the pressurized water is dispensed means there is a bit of water at the top, under pressure, when you unscrew it to refill. if you turn the bottle over and dispense it, that water should clear and you’ll only get air when you unscrew the top.For club soda, you can add baking soda. The only difference between seltzer water and club soda is the addition of sodium bicarbonate (sometime other minerals, but that’s the main one). I recommend between 1/4 and 1 tsp, depending on your taste.

Works GreatThe only reason it doesn’t get a five star review is that the base collects water if you over pour during filling. That means that if you weren’t super careful, water will fly around when you shake the siphon during charging. Overall a solid product that works very well,

Lack of a manual makes use difficultI need to apologize to the manufacturer. I have actually four of these ISI bottles at home and naturally four chargers. I mixed up the charger for the previous all stainless bottle a few months ago.Initially, no problems but then charging became harder, which I could not understand. Finally I had this episode where the cartridge got stuck in the charger device.Today I used the all the all black charger and had a smoothie charge. Please ignore the rest of your this post… i am keeping my fingers crossed that this bottle will continue to perform as it did today in the future…I will only now ding one point for the lack of a high quality manual (no manual at all in English???) emphasizing which charger to use and be careful not to mix them.I purchased this one on July 18, this year. I have three other models since 2000 or so. Unfortunately, the first near identical glass (I believe), I gave to my music teacher. I gifted another new one to my neighbor across the street.Usually they have been trouble free for nearly 4-5 years each, which is not bad.I HAVE NEVER USED NON ISI CARTRIDGES NOR TRIED ANYTHING BUT CLUB SODA.I was truly disappointed today when the ISI cartridge got stuck after charging the bottle. It just won’t come out. I will ask my handyman to try next week, but am not hopeful.I will need to get a new bottle since I doubt ISI is going to honor their warranty on a Chinese bottle and Chinese chargers….

it’s a nice looking “classic” package…*edit – today I learned, Soda Water and Seltzer are not the same, per iSI customer service:This machine makes Soda Water, which is more a flavor where our Soda Stream makes Seltzer, which is what pops in your mouth like a pop-rock. This explains why it is flat water by comparison. Thanks for the reply iSi!*Initial reviewThe flavor is on par with any other soda water, however, compared to our soda stream, it doesn’t have as much bite as hoped.Being much more contained and sealed than our older soda-stream bottles, we thought it would have much more bite to the soda. Unfortunately, while it comes out like it will (visually) it doesn’t taste like it’s heavily carbonated.Maybe it’s not supposed to be and “bite” is subjective, meaning those that used these before the soda stream, expect less carbonation (less bite) and just the flavor.Overall, it looks and feels GREAT! It will be nice to display and use at a party (if that ever happens again.)We’ll have to compare impressions with guests in the future to see if they too expected more bite.
