I typically buy fresh bagels from Wegmans and so I got this to slice them. However those bagels are so fresh its too soft to actually slice them. This works for stale bagels or not so fresh ones. I like my bagels fresh and soft. Just stick with a bread knife.

It’s not amazingly fun to clean because of its shape, but it is dishwasher safe. The blade isn’t sharp. I suppose you could sharpen it. It works fine for me since I keep my bagels in the fridge, so they are a little hard. If you have a soft bagel or a fresh one, it will smash it, not cut it. It is sturdy though. The biggest perk is it will fit Costco sized bagels and not all of them are the right size for that.

The bagel cutter smashes the bagel and rarely cuts it.

It does not cut soft bagels very well. It’s not sharp enough and it squashes the bagel.

This slicer works good for hard bagels! Which is what I honestly need it for anyway since.. ya know…because they are hard to cut. The slicer doesn’t always cut it down the middle though, like sometimes is extremely uneven if you’re checking for that—- but it works good enough for me, especially with the hard bagels! And it’s easy to clean and store.
The only thing is that I’ve noticed if the bagel is too soft this slicer will barely cut it…like it mainly squishes it …so then you have to dig out the bagel and cut it normally with a knife lol. —but that’s just because there’s no way to move the slicer in a sawing type of motion… it’s really just a bagel guillotine lol—- so I def understand the squishing part.

Like the simplicity. However screws have come out easily…
