Product was obviously shipped already broken. The product box was smashed and ripped. The outer UPS package was not torn, it wasn’t even dirty. The box could not have been ripped without the outer packaging having damage.
Also of note, while Bethany Housewares is known as premier provider of appliances, especially kitchen items for Scandinavian cuisine, this product is primarily plastic. I will be replacing it with a Cucina Pro, which is metal and less than half the cost.

Sorry Bethany House but I’m not impressed with this. We have your Lefsa griddle which works great and why we bought your Krumkake iron. The temperature control lever is cheap plastic and doesn’t seem to do anything. For what we paid I think this could be better designed. The green light never came on so we had to use a timer. The krumkake didn’t brown evenly either. One area was consistently brown on every cookie while the other areas didn’t brown. If I cooked it longer it would burn. We used the recipe in the owners manual and it is a good recipe. The manual says to drop a heaping teaspoon of batter onto the grill but it is more like a tablespoon. I don’t think I could recommend this product to my family or friends.

It is so easy to use I have to wonder why I did not purchase it before. Making perfect krumkakes right away

I thought Bethany Housewares was a brand I could trust, but this is a very unsatisfactory baker. It bakes unevenly, browning some areas but not another. If I turned the heat down to avoid this, it wasn’t hot enough to bake them, resulting in a soggy krumkake. Nothing tempting about a flaccid krumkake! The temperature lights don’t work, which I could deal with, but it was another indicator of poor quality. It is also rather chintzily made. Don’t buy this!!

I used a Bethany krumkake iron for almost 30 years. When it quit working, I ordered a replacement Bethany product. I am very disappointed. It doesn’t bake evenly and is cheaply made… the top wiggles, the temp control is wobbly and setting doesn’t make much difference. I used for the first time today, but bought it months ago so can’t return it. VERY disappointing!

This griddle is best Krumkake griddle I’ve used. I have used numerous griddles over past 60 years.

The Bethany krumkake baker is expensive but everything about it feels cheap. Cheap plastic components, loose lid, loose temperature control lever, loose cover lock. The plastic covers over the heating elements rattle when the unit is moved. On my brand new unit, the nice “red” temperature control knob/handle came out of the box with a sickly pink color, looking like cheap plastic that has sat in the sun too long, but this one was able to accomplish its fading all by itself…without assistance from the sun.
Performance-wise. Mediocre, barely passing. The grilling is uneven, making it difficult to strike the proper balance between burning one half of the krumkake and leaving the other side soft and mushy.
