I did not enjoy this dehydrator, although its my first one and im new to dehydrating, I found it odd there was no temperature setting or timer. Sort of flimsy, and also prefer stainless steal. Returned..

Works very fast, but puts out an incredible amount of heat in the room. I can’t even use it in my small kitchen without it getting so hot in there. Otherwise it dries much quicker than the last machine I had years ago.

Bought it because it was fairly large and cheap. with some tweaking it works great for drying 3d printer filament.
It has no temp control… or really any controls at all, but usually it seems to regulate itself at around 120 farenheit, tho it does wander from this significantly, It gets up to somewhere nearing 130 then the heater shuts off and it slowly cools back down to somewhere in the upper 110s before warming back up.
When plugged in the machine turns on immediately and begins heating. the fan is always running and pulls air up thru the center of the machine and forcing it down around the hollow sides of the trays.
I wouldn’t say it’s quiet but it’s not annoyingly loud. it sounds a bit like a muffled hair dryer.

HORRIBLE PRODUCTO, HA FALLADO DESPUES DE 3 USOS, SIMPLEMENTE NO PRENDE, NI BOTON DE ENCENDIDO Y APAGADO TIENE, SOLO QUE SE CONECTA A LA LUZ Y Y ASI ENCENDIA, PUES SIMPLEMENTE YA NO PRENDE. Y LA VENTANA DE DEVOLUCION ES DE SOLO UN MES, EN PRIMERA LO USE HASTA DESPUES DE CASI 2 SEMANAS DE HABERLO RECIBIDO, Y FALLO ENSEGUIDA. AHORA NO PUEDO DEVOLVERLO. PESIMO

I used this to dehydrate apple slices for my first use. This model does not have a temp gauge but it doesn’t need one. The heat is warm, the fan works well and is amazingly quiet for a basic dehydrator. I was well pleased with the uniformity of the drying. I had a few pieces on the bottom rack that needed a bit more drying but not many. This machine works well for less cost. I’ll be ordering more trays and I’m so happy with my purchase!

I use this for herbs and fruits. It can do jerky but this only has one temperature setting. So it’s just easier to do small things with this one. Isn’t the quietest, but not the loudest.

It is big. There is no temperature control and no on/off switch. It dehydrate quickly and the items are dehydrated consistently. I purchased the fruit roll up inserts when I first purchased this (older model). I have never needed to buy replacement trays or any replacement parts. I use this less now that my child is older. The first few years, I used it consistently on a weekly schedule and it has tapered down to once a month these days.
Still one of the best purchases I ever made.
Easy to use.
If you dry something messy, the clean up is more challenging, but not horrendous. I’m one of those fairly impatient people. If it was super difficult to clean then I’d have stopped using it. BUT, I have maintained a 10 year relationship with it and have moved cross country twice and locally once in that time and it has been one thing that I haven’t relinquished.
I felt inclined to write this review 10 years later after trying a friend’s newer, fancier, more compact model. It had nothing on my old workhorse other than more bells and whistles, being smaller AND taking 20 hours to dry raspberries. I’m sticking with my Presto. What some reviewers see as flaws, I find ease of use.
And it honestly isn’t that loud. I recommend not running it in front of your TV or next to your pillow. It is softer sounding than a blow dryer.

I wish the layers were a bit thicker. Would love if they made thicker inserts for larger fruits so I don’t smush them and break them.

I have the older model where the heat unit is on the bottom/countertop. It is substantially more powerful and gets your product’s hotter and dehydrates quite a bit faster. The new design of the unit is easier to clean, lighter, and saves more space but costs you time and attention regardless.
The trays have been redesigned so they are not compatible. The new unit requires that you use even numbers of trays or include empty trays not in use. The handle for the unit top is kind of stupid since it only allows you to lift that portion which weighs almost nothing anyway. Waste of time and plastic. Presto should have created a different item line for this rather than continuing the same line. On the other hand, moving the heating unit to the top, adding a cord wrap, and moving the drip tray to the bottom rather than the heater is a massive improvement. Just not enough to override the disappointment in performance for me.

This is a very basic machine. Very basic. No bells and whistles. No timer, no on/off switch, nothing at all. That being said, it works. I only hope it keeps working. I like it for myself because I don’t know if it will get a lot of use. I’m new to this preservation technique. So far I like it. I may have to upgrade but this is a good entry level machine.
