West Bend has been a leader in developing electric kitchen appliances since being founded in West Bend, Wisconsin in 1911. Providing unmatched performance, quality and value to consumers has always been at the heart of everything we do. Popcorn is a delicious and healthy way to enjoy snack time. You can eat it plain for a healthier snack or indulge with butter and seasonings. It can be dressed up or dressed down for any occasion. It is the perfect addition to any dinner party, backyard BBQ or winter’s night in front of the fire. The Stir Crazy No.82505, 6-Quart Popcorn Popper by West Bend is America’s favorite popcorn popper. It measures 13″ W x 10″ L x 10″ H and is constructed of durable and BPA free plastic housing. The Stir Crazy uses a triple-layer heating plate which increases performance and insulates the body of the popper to fully pop up to 6.75-quarts of popcorn in about 4 minutes. Features of the Stir Crazy popcorn popper include the clear cover which not only allows you to see the popcorn pop, but also transforms into a family-sized serving bowl when popping is complete. Atop the cover is a butter well- butter placed in the butter well will melt from the heat of the popper and drizzle onto the popcorn as it pops. When popping has finished, simply snap the butter lid over the butter well, flip the machine upside down and the cover is now a serving bowl for your snack. The easy-to-read ON/OFF button of the Stir Crazy activates the heating surface and rotation of the stirring rods. The stirring rods keep the corn moving to pop all of the kernels. The compact surface and steep side walls of the heating plate keep kernels centered and yield greater popping efficiency. When finished, the non-stick heating surface is easy to clean and the dual-purpose cover and serving bowl is top-rack dishwasher safe. The permanently attached cord wraps underneath the base and the base nests neatly inside the cover making for a compact, no-tangle storage when not in use.
Note: Please unplug the machine and flip it over when it’s done popping the popcorn

Does what it’s supposed to doI had thought about a larger popper but decided on this. It pops the corn quickly and, so far, with few unpopped kernelsThe manual says the popping cycle is 4-5 minutes, which I think is too long. I only popped 1/2 cup at the most and it popped quickly. I manually turned the machine off.I’d recommend watching how long it takes to pop larger volumes of corn before depending on its popping cycle to prevent scorching the kernels.Overall, I’m impressed!

Many Stir Crazy’s here!I have owned at least six Stir Crazy poppers over the years. My wife and I eat popcorn at least once a week and have for years. They were really great until the Chinese started making them. That’s when the negative reviews began to appear. Things like the cooking surface coming off on to the popcorn, the shape of the lid/bowl and, most important the longevity of the machine itself. Still, after trying two other brands, I came back to the Stir Crazy as the best option. The picture above is my latest Stir Crazy. Apparently the heating elements have failed and the machine doesn’t heat up enough to cook the corn. I contacted West Bend. The warranty was supposed to be for one year. I bought this one on February 22nd of this year. I contacted West Bend and they acted like they were going to honor the warranty. I sent pictures and information on the purchase to them. Then, I heard nothing from them at all. Finally, I contacted Amazon support and they have refunded my purchase price and didn’t require me to box up and ship the old machine which I thought was very nice. I have been an Amazon customer for years and they always stand behind anything sold through their online shopping. I can’t say the same for West Bend. Thumbs up for Amazon. I am ordering a new one right now. Paul B.

Works better than most I’ve researched. Largest size for this kind.I’ve researched a bunch of these, and this one offers the largest capacity. It seems to have more/wider holes to let the steam out as well so that the popcorn doesn’t get as soggy/chewy. It says do not add butter to the base oil, but i found that if you put it on the top it doesn’t all melt, and certainly not until the end.I use Irish butter which has less water content, and doesn’t “burn” as much as regular stick butter. I tried it the 2nd time with it in the base, and it seemed to work just fine with this kind of butter. (best deal for this kind is at Costco or I would imagine Sam’s Club. The surface to metal stick part that stirs the popcorn seems to be better than most i’ve researched as well. Even though when spinning there appears to be kernels stuck towards the outside, most of them still seem to pop properly by the time it is finished.I’ve only used it twice so far so I can’t say to it’s lasting durability, but so far it seems to be the best one of these kinds you can get that I’ve looked at. I’m not a fan of the type of hard plastic of the bowl part as it can crack easily, and the cap part doesn’t fit on super securely. You also can not flip just the plate wit hit, and must flip the whole device to invert the bowl, which is usually too hot to touch after the popcorn is done popping.

Best popcorn popper ever.We tried another brand and hated it. It is fast and leaves very few cornels. The only popper we will ever buy. This is the 3rd one we have owned over several years.

Not what it used to be, for sure.My dad had a Stir Crazy popper WAY back when; I was quite a young kid. The running joke among my friend was that he would just toss a whole stick of butter in there instead of oil and he popped almost every evening. Very good stuff. The build quality of this is NOWHERE NEAR what that one was. That one was a lot more sturdy overall. Also, the handles on this get hot underneath, so you need to use mittens to flip it, but dad’s didn’t get anywhere near as hot on the handles because of the construction; thus flipping was easy to do.The other issue is that the butter drip deal – which the older ones had but Dad never bothered (and now I know why): the butter will NEVER get hot enough to fully melt. Even if it does melt partially, some gets left in the grooves. A better design here would have involved a separate heating element thing-a-ma-bobber that fully melts like a microwave can easily do in 30 seconds. You’re better off just separately melting the butter and pouring it over or just get “butter flavored”.If you want something slightly healthier, I’d recommend just using the oil as recommended, then get Snappy brand butter flavored Theater Salt (find on Amazon). Trust me, it’ll sound straight out of the movie theater even if you don’t use actual butter.Didn’t have an issue with uniform popping. Did have a minor issue with residue – and cleaning is a slight pain. Everything else I’m good with but it’s not the best; for the price it’s good enough.

Careful when flippingOverall this is a good popper. I would recommend being very careful when flipping it because of the heat. The power switch on ours quit working after the second use, so the power is on as soon as you plug it in.

Popcorn popper problems.Overall seems to be working just fine, so far. I’m a bit concerned about the durability. Who knows how long the teflon coating will last as it seems that the popcorn kernels are a bit abrasive and often times get caught under the stirring arm and make a loud scraping noise. The plastic lid is pretty flimsy so I’m very careful about handling that part. I wonder how well the stirrer motor will hold up since there is nothing you can do to prolong it’s life. So far it’s been OK, but for $40 I would like to see a bit more sturdiness.

Great popperWe have used a popper religiously for movie night for the past 8 years. Our finally broke and had to get a new one. Since we use it all the time I wanted it to last for a while. This one had lot of good reviews and they were right. So glad we went with this one

You will not go wrong with this! This is the third popper I’ve bought that is this brand. The other two died of natural causes after many years of use. So why do I like it? Well it makes great corn, the base simply wipes clean and the top can be placed in the top rack of your dishwasher. Caution: do keep track of the stirring rod and screw-on cap; they are easy to loose. You can use the popper without the rod but you’re better off using it because it rotates and spreads the popcorn over the oil.

This is the 2nd Stir Crazy popper I’ve owned, I love itThe 1st Stir Crazy I bought about 20 years or more ago. The only reason why I bought a new one is because the Stir needed a little help to get started after 20+ years of service and the plastic cover was starting to show its age.Enough of the old 1, the newer Stir Crazy looks better, the new design plastic lid is much better constructed and much more sturdy than the old one. The on/off switch on the front is a nice feature that my other one didn’t have. Almost every corn pops with these amazing poppers. I’m looking forward to another 20+ years of popping corn with my new Stir crazy. Just pop, flip it over into the bowl and start eating.
