Not pure white, but slightly off white. I bought this one and the smaller version (6 cup Aroma which is perfect size for two people); the colors are definitely different, the smaller one is pure white… if that matters. But because of it’s performance, I couldn’t care less. I bought these two so I could make sushi rice for a dinner party I was having. Both performed perfectly. I just decided to try something in this one…Rice-a-Roni. Used the Saute/Simmer function to brown it per the package instructions – takes longer than skillet but no burned rice because I walked away. Then put the seasoning and water in, set it to white rice function, put the top on and walked away. Took a nice, hot, leisurely shower and came back to perfect rice and no mess.
Like most of you who are looking at this rice cooker, I got rid of my old aluminum pan one for health reasons. Then i bought a $200 one from the Asian market, only to find it impossible to clean. Ater that I had been making my rice in my instant pot, which has a steel inner pot. But that was such a hassle – it took too long to make and clean up after – that I just didn’t make rice that often. Now, with these two, I can see I’ll be making it quite often due to ease of use and cleanup. Growing up in a house where there was only minute rice, I did not know until recently that you need to rinse rice…I know – ewwwww! After reading reviews on rice washing bowls, I saw several that said just wash the rice right in the cooker’s bowl. Surprisingly, the rice stays together and doesn’t drip out with the water. The washing helps keep the foam down, and thus minimize the spewing out the steam hole. Next, stainless steel is like cast iron, as you cook with it the metal molecules expand and absorb cooking oil, then become slicker as you use it. I use coconut oil to coat my stainless pots before cooking and yes, it does cloud the rice rinse water. But no sticking, no discoloration! And one more thing: do not use your standard 1 cup measure from your drawer to measure the rice. The ‘rice cup’ that comes with all rice cookers is actually 3/4ths US cup. This could account for reviewers having issues with burning and sticking. Lastly, both the cookers have beautiful encapsulated bottomed pans like really good cookware. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go have some awesome Rice-a-Roni!

Another review sold me on this rice cooker but here’s my review as well.
Ok- we eat a lot of rice here (Asian household)I had another Aroma model that has the coated basket and an attached lid which I didn’t like because it would get water in the rim inside around the edge and over time it’s hard to clean it out. I have been wanting to get away from coated cooking products and came across this. I was concerned it would stick to the stainless steel basket but surprisingly it cooks really nice and cleans up easily. I love the fact I can remove the entire basket with the lid and stick in the fridge if by chance have leftovers. Also like the fact the steam insert is also stainless steel. Love the size and I think the price point is good. Only thing I didn’t care for was that it’s white but for being white it does look nice just clashed with my other cookware but at the end of the day that’s being picky. Hopefully in the future a stainless steel and black color are available. Would definitely buy again!

I’m from Australia, wanted a stainless steel cooker because of other coatings peeling off, saw this one, bought it, service was great, had a little trouble finding out how to use it in Australia because of it being in American voltage, investigated, bought a step down 1500w amp $140, company gave me a converter to fit the cooker so it would work with my amp and it’s now working like a dream. I might add, I go straight to cooking my rice with the steamer control, brown rice, 1 to 2, a little salt, oil and let it go. My rice comes out perfect, it switches off when all the water has evaporated, it works like a dream. I love my rice cooker, a little on the expensive side when you have to buy all the added things but worth it for the quality of the cooker, stainless steel bowl and the no fuss cooking of the rice. Love it!!!

I’ve had several rice cookers and the one thing the had in common was that the rice at the bottom always browned. Well this little gem does not suffer this problem. It’s stainless steel pot is a dream to clean, cooks more than just rice. Would never go back to an aluminum pot.
Delivery was quick.

I like it but you should wash by hand. I put it in the dishwasher after the first use but the steamer basket was left with marks (where vegetables had touched the surface)

The product stopped working after using a few times. I bought it because the inner pot is stainless steel. I will not recommend this product.

The cooker does what it should, it cooks rice. The stainless insert is what sold me to it. I love my instant pot, but I prefer to cook rice in this because it’s easier to use and clean. I can now make rice in this pot while making stews in my IP. I love just being able to set and forget and cleanup is a snap. My elderly mother was getting forgetful about turning off the stove. She likes this because it allows her to continue to cook without burning down the house. Steaming is easy too. I often reheat food by steaming and the insert holds my standard corelle bowl perfectly. Lost one star for one reason: sometimes the rice water bubbles out of the spout and makes a mess. Just sometimes.

I purchased this cooker specifically for a cooking class over a year ago. From the start it could not be counted on to finish rice properly. At times it would shut off with half done rice soaking in warm water. This is really frustrating. I quickly realized the “brown rice” button didn’t work at all. Brown rice very rarely cooks at all, even on the white rice setting. I’ve tried probably a dozen times. I would love some help from service, if at all possible.
This rice cooker works better as a steamer, and white rice USUALLY cooks ok… But it can’t be counted on all the time. Very upsetting when the rest of the dinner is ready but the rice is sitting uncooked in water. I’m giving two stars only because I really like the stainless steel, the steamer basket, and the size of the rice cooker.

How to cook a delicious rice:
For each cup of rice, add a cup of water, & at the end add half of cup of water.
Also, for each cup of rice, add one and half spoon of oil.
For each cup of rice, add half of tea spoon of salt.
I’ve been using it since 10 months ago. I’m very satisfied. I believe it’s truly stainless steel. It doesn’t stick to a magnet (a proof of being made entirely by stainless steel). It doesn’t smell metal. It does the job perfectly. I’m buying another one today.
The color of the walls (stainless steel) has never changed.
Believe me, other brands usually use metal pots and apply stainless steel on it. Consequently, those pots get rusty in a year, smell & their color change over time. After a year you will end up paying a lot like over 50 buks for parts.
But this one, Aroma, it’s not the same. I am not working for them haha. I’m just trying to help the shoppers. I have been using cookers more than 10 years and this one, Aroma, has got my interest. I think its company does the job in honest.
Anyone who gives low stars I read their reviews, they all are complaining about the cooked rice. They nag about the bad results. The truth is they either don’t know the best formulation and way of adding rice+water+oil+salt or they are using cheap type of rice.
Take my formulation and way of adding rice+water+oil+salt as a gift from me,
& hey Aroma company!!, please give me a credit if you decide to use my formula for the best result.
