I had my waffle maker for 12 years & it finally went. I was looking for a smaller waffle maker & I found it. It cooks waffles well , but the construction I found was a little flimsy. After the first waffle the lid was loose.
They don’t make things like they used to .

Summary: Poor quality, thin waffles that look thinner than pancakes, a pain to clean.
This is very disappointing.
Explanation:
1) I thought Cuisinart made at least average to good quality products. This is not the case.
2) Material quality from outside is cheap and very plastiky.
3) Small amounts of waffle mixed made it overflow= kitchen mess
4) Cuisinart should not call this product ‘classic waffle maker’- it is an insult to the classic waffles.
5) The project manager and engineers involved in the design and manufacturing this product should consider quitting.

So I purchased this waffle maker to replace my old waffle maker. My old waffle maker wasn’t fancy- it was purchased about 15 years ago from a big box store- but it was perfect, still worked, made PERFECT waffles- but I lost it during a move! I was attracted to the Cuisinart brand name- I usually associate it with quality- not so much any more.
Maybe I should’ve read the description better, but this is not a “Belgian” waffle maker- the waffles are thinner, about the thickness of toaster waffles but larger. The description states 1″ deep batter pockets for “thick delicious waffles” but the finished waffles are less than 1″, closer to 1/2″.
The upper waffle plate hinge could be improved upon. My upper plate is not attached straight, it closes at an offset angle. It still works, but it’s annoying for a brand new product to already have issues. Additionally, when closing the waffle iron there is no wiggle room but batter to rise up. I have been making weekend waffles for over 15 years, and I feel like I’ve mastered pouring just the right amount of batter on the iron, but I cannot get a perfect waffle with this iron. The plates push the batter towards the front, so it nearly oozes from the front and is always short on the back of the plate. Maybe I need to practice more, but my old waffle iron floated on the back hinge to accommodate the batter rising- this was does not.
I’m still learning the heat settings, but I feel like the “5” setting burns the outside of the waffles, still undercooked inside. On setting “3”, the waffles appears undercooked, but when I leave it on longer until the waffle stops steaming, I get a nice golden brown and the waffle is fully cooked. Again-the timer light on my previous waffle iron was reliable- in my opinion, this one is not.
All in all, it still makes an okay waffle. I’ll be keeping it for now because it gets the job done, but I’m still on the hunt for a better one.

Just don’t get rough with it and you’ll be fine!
Others have written extensively as to how to have success with this perfectly fine unit. There’s a helpful, if lengthy, review here, that starts “Love my waffle iron. There is a trick….4 years later and it still works!” It helped me avoid any problems or misuse. If you’re just waffling occasionally and for only a few people, this can be a perfectly adequate waffle maker for you!

The waffle maker is a good value for the price. The temperature control is a little iffy, in that it is a bit loose and it is hard to dial in exactly due to the play in the slider, but generally it works fine. I was disappointed that it doesn’t come apart for cleaning, but so far that hasn’t been an issue. Overall it is a good value for a single waffle maker. I use it to make potato waffles – cook a large potato, leave the skin on and when it is cooked cut it up well and smash it and then place it on the waffle iron at about 2 to 3 on the heating scale and leave for around 10 minutes for a nice hash brown waffle. I am concerned about the longevity of this item, since it seems to be “loose” in that the areas that are screwed together, such as the handle, are very loose and not well secured.

This waffle maker makes good waffles that brown evenly. This is my second Cuisinart Classic Waffle Maker. I had to throw away my first one that I had for about ten years. Unfortunately, I took Alton Brown’s recommendation to cook bacon in a waffle maker. The bacon came out terrible, there was grease pooling in the waffle maker, and it was impossible to clean. DON’T TRY TO COOK BACON IN ANY WAFFLE MAKER! The temperature control has a lot of play as did my previous one. It’s fairly easy to clean as long as you don’t over fill it with batter. (Use 1/2 cup batter) I set the temp control to 4.5 and wait for the steaming to stop. This is how waffles were made years ago. This morning I tried the recipe for basic waffles from the instruction and recipe book. The batter was way too thick and the waffle was too heavy and tough for my liking. I like a waffle that’s light and crisp on the outside. I use Hunger Jack Buttermilk Pancake Mix using their recipe for waffles. All in all, this is the best waffle maker for the money and I would recommend it to anyone.

Easiest waffle maker I ever used over the years! Basically no cleanup if careful pouring batter, temperature controls right on, perfect waffles every time!!! I use this at least 3 times a week!!! If you like crispy waffles, just turn up the temp control! LOVE this product!!

OK, this is a very simple waffle maker. The temperature control works well, and you always get the desired waffle – crisp, if that’s what you want, less so if that’s what you want. You control it, and can keep it at the desired setting. The waffles always turn out great. After 4 years, it is still going strong, and it has always made great waffles. I like to put some oatmeal in the batter, for health reasons, and this does not faze the machine. With or without, it is fine. My only criticism is that you should just spray it with a very little oil or cooking spray to help the waffles come out easily. This is why I did not give it 5 stars plus. They will come out without that, though. And, you will find that it is a durable waffle maker that does its job to satisfaction. Overflow? Who cares? If you put too much batter in then that is too much. Next time, use less. Even if you make that mistake, it cleans up easily. Mine looks like new. And works like new.
