Very smart lightIn saying that maybe I should say it made me feel smart to buy it. I’ve had hue lights for some years now and use em all over the place, within reason cuz they’re not cheap.I needed to put up a light and found this. Given the price of this and the ways of the world i expected a flimsy product with a lot of plastic. Upon getting I find a substantial well built and very sturdy device.And best of all a fine looking modern fixture. It’s so nice I’d like to change out more lights with this. The fact that it’s got a hue lamp built in makes this very well designed device cool too.I recommend!

Good product, but in my case a returned item resold as new[Item sold/shipped by “Deal Targets”] The package’s seal was broken and it was missing the drywall screws but otherwise seemed unused. My impression was the previous purchaser saw it required additional mounting due to the surprising weight and returned the light. In hindsight, after seeing the price was roughly $40 less than what the light sells on Philips Hue’s website, it’s kind of clear what the product was but there was no indication of such in the listing that I saw.

Love this light fixture! Just what I was looking for.I have always been a big supporter of Hue lights. I’ve tried many other less expensive smart home brands in attempt to save money and nothing else compares. They’re bright, vibrant, reliable, and the Hue app is beautifully integrated with their hardware. So they’re well worth the price point in my opinion.This fixture was very easy to install and looks sleek and modern. Materials are also noticeably high quality. It just feels sturdy and well made.My one major complaint, is that the bulb they include in this $100 fixture is an old model so it doesn’t have the ability to do the flicker effects that newer bulbs have. I had to switch it out with one of my new bulbs to get this feature, which I think goes well with an outdoor lantern. Kinda gives it that old gas lamp effect.It just annoys me a little that I splurge on these expensive smart bulbs and fixtures and receive an outdated bulb. But I guess everyone cuts corners where they can these days. Deducted a star for this reason, but other than that it’s a great light fixture.

Looks GreatI’m really happy with these. I bought 2 of these to replace the carriage lights on the front of my house. They look good in both daytime and night. Bright enough to do the job. I paired mine with the Hue motion detector, so I can have them do colors (Christmas, Halloween, Easter, local sports themes) or night lights, then turn on to full bright when motion is detected.

For the smart home !!Phillips hue has been on the market for quite some time. I was looking for a light that I could easily integrate through my Alexa devices & I decided to take a chance. First, this light does NOT come with mounting hardware. I had to go to my nearest hardware store and buy tapcon screws as I was mounting this device on concrete. I recommend taking the light to the hardware store and showing it to someone who has knowledge on what tools you will need. You will also need a drill, drill bit (I used a concrete drill bit), Phillips screw driver, 16 gauge wire connectors, clear waterproof silicone, tapcon screws (I mounted on concrete)& a leveler. Seems like a lot but trust me..it’s not. I try to do what I can in the house without having to hire an expensive electrician. In my location I am able to install lights like these without needing a permit. Once you decide where you would like to place the light you must FIRST go to the breaker box and turn off the power to that specific area. Double check by flipping light switch on and off, no power means you are good to go. Remove the current fixture & disconnect the wiring. Then with Phillips screwdriver, remove the top and bottom screws located on the light. You will then see the led portion of the light. You will see 4 screws there and remove them. You will now have the mounting bracket. Use the bracket as a guide to help you determine where you will drill 4 pilot holes. Use the leveler in order to have your light level and straight. (You don’t want to have a nice light that is crooked) Once you drill 4 pilot holes, drill 4 tapcon screws into the desired area. Pull the wires through the mounting bracket and connect to the LED portion of the light. Remember .. white with white , black with black and make sure you place the ground wire on the “green” screw (you will see it) & use wire connectors to cap off the ends. Then you will use the 4 screws you previously removed form the LED portion and screw those on but not so tight.. at this time.. check to make sure the light turns on.. if so.. you are good to go. If not then check your wiring and make sure you use wire connectors. Now you are almost finished!! Place the glass faceplate cover on the led light and screw the top and bottom screws with Phillips head screwdriver. Remember to use the clear silicon to stop those pesky bugs, debris and moisture from entering the light. I have included pictures to show before and after application of silicon. It makes a mess and doesn’t look clean so I used a small piece or card board and worked my way around the light to remove excess silicone. Check out the nice finish afterwards!!! I have included pictures. Now that you have your light mounted !! Connect with the app and have fun playing with your new light. Bugs get in the lightSo I love Philips Hue products, I have prob 20+ bulbs, fixtures, light strips, light bars etc. The problem I have with this outdoor light is that it allows insects inside the glass housing due to 4 pen sized holes that are on the sides of the light. I have to assume they are designed to allow moisture out to avoid fogging up but, since this is an outdoor light and used mostly in the evenings, it attracts insects as all lights do. However, the bugs get into the light, build nests, webs, etc., so the light requires regular cleaning. Perhaps this problem will go away in the winter but for now I have the 4 holes covered with black duct tape. Not something I would expect to have to do for a $160 dollar light.

Great tech. Shame about the build – insects!We have several Hue lights throughout our home, but needed a new light for our back porch. I love this porch light. Bigger than expected and very well made. I would have given 5 stars but I think it is a little over priced. We have this on our back porch. Adds a lovely ambiance when sitting at our fireplace sipping a glass of wine and changing the colour to suit the mood. UPDATE, still loving the overall appearance and functionality of these lights, but like other buyers I agree the glass fills up with insect and spiders, Very inconvenient to clean all the time. I have to rely on my boyfriend making time to remove them all and wait till I clean them to put them back up. Philips Hue need to fix this, especially considering the price being charged.
