Great for bodybuilders but still not perfectI am probably not the typical user of this product. I am a weight lifter who needs to lose a few pounds. So instead of using the recipe book, I make protein shakes and freeze them, then churn them up in this machine. I got the idea from Rahul Kamat on youtube. The texture is AMAZING, considering the ingredients are unsweetened almond milk and protein powder. No cream or regular milk. The texture reminds me of a Wendy’s frostee. No, seriously. So creamy and smooth. However, freezing the shake and running it through the machine somehow saps all the flavor. It’s pale (not chocolatey enough) and also not sweet enough. So if you do it this way, add some extra cocoa powder and stevia drops before you freeze it. Make it too chocolatey and too sweet as a liquid, in order for it to taste decent as a frozen treat. Another thing to consider is that the product is by far the best when it’s fresh made. It will refreeze hard as a rock and whatever this whirleygig contraption does, it leaves the end product with a weird texture if you thaw it. I figured well, it started as a protein shake, so if I can’t finish it, I’ll let it thaw and it will turn back into a liquid protein shake, right? Wrong. It kind of “breaks” and separates like a bad hollandaise sauce or something. Idk. It’s weird. I drank it anyway so as not to waste expensive protein powder but i didnt enjoy it. These “protein shake frostees” for lack of a better term are THICK. I wanted more of a drinkable shake so one time I added some almond milk to my glass and stirred it in. Big mistake! That ruined the texture and made it icy! I come from the keto world and I have to say I can make a fantastic ice cream in my Cuisinart ice cream maker. It just has WAY more calories and fat due to the cream. But its much more similar to “real” ice cream than this is. One more thing, I can drink a protein shake in just a few gulps. But I have yet to finish one of these ninja creami pints in a single sitting. It really increases in volume and makes a LOT of product. Just FYI.I did try to use this the regular way. I made some strawberry ice cream for my parents with real cream, sugar, corn syrup and strawberries. They said they liked it, but I was disappointed in it. I expected more. I think I could make a far better traditional ice cream in my Cuisinart. It didn’t have the smooth creamy texture that I thought it would. It tasted weird to me. As others have said, it is pretty noisy. I wouldn’t use this late at night if someone in your house is sleeping or if you have close neighbors like in an apartment. I got this on a deal. I don’t know if I would be happy paying full price for it. If you find it at goodwill or something, I say snap it up! Because it is a quality machine. But otherwise, maybe give it a pass. I do own many other ninja products and they are all GREAT. I just think this particular one is too much of a niche/novelty and it takes up a lot of space. Just my 2 cents.

Best purchase everI’ve been looking at this machine for a year and finally decided to get it when I saw they had a sale. 10/10 absolutely amazing product. I use my own frozen custard ice cream base recipe so I haven’t used the recipes in the book yet. I was concerned that there would still be ice crystals and frosty ice chunks left over since ur required to freeze the ice cream before churning instead of the standard ice cream machine which churns and freezes the base simultaneously. However I was pleasantly surprised by instead having this machine make the smoothest, creamiest, most perfect ice cream in the world. I immediately purchased more pints so that k could have multiple freezing and ready to be churned. Also very easy to use I just had to press one or two buttons and the instruction manual was very easy to follow. Cleaning can be a bit of a hassle but not terrible. In short I highly recommend this product.

Plastic Shard InformationFirst, I love this machine. Okay, that said, this is about the plastic shard issue. I bought the Creami and I used it immediately. I went back to Amazon to get a couple more spare pints and discovered comments about plastic shards from the blade striking the interior. I check the container I’d just used and it was fine. I almost returned it, thinking it might be a matter of time. I played with the blade, lid and container for a while and this is what discovered.I realized that when you pull the blade lever back in order to insert the blade and have the rubber gasket grip the blade, it is easy to have it go in slightly crooked. You have to look at the top of the lid and make sure that the blade is centered and release the lever, making sure after lever is released that it remains centered. The space between the tip of the blade and the interior container wall is minuscule and could easily brush side, peeling of slivers of plastic, if blade is not centered. While issue could be a manufacturing problem of some slightly too long blades, I suspect it is a blade seating issue. I’ve used it numerous times and there are no scars on the inside of any container, meaning the container and blade have never made contact.

Works EXACTLY as advertisedThe one thing that needs to be made clear is that this is not a blender, it is an ice shaver… Probably powerful enough to drill a core sample out of a glacier in Antarctica, but that’s how it works. You fill the container to the max-line and make sure that it freezes flat, with a flat top. Also, whatever you put in the container MUST be frozen solid over the course of 24-hours, no less. No instant gratification here. If you do that and follow the rest of the instructions, you will absolutely have custom scoop-able frozen treats! Buy extra containers so you can keep extra batches ready!I am not a fan of the cookbook, and I can’t have cream. So most often, I fill the container with frozen fruit like blueberries (cherries, strawberries, sometimes a combo bag intended for “smoothies”), add a pinch of salt, and top it off with evaporated milk. After the deep freeze, and a spin (and I always seem to need a “re-spin”), I get an amazing, delicious, creamy, blueberry ice cream with no extra sugar, cream or artificial sweeteners. Also, one can of pumpkin, one can of dulce de lece, and a teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice makes 2 containers of decadent pumpkin ice cream. You couldn’t make these things as easily with a traditional ice-cream method. If you eat out of the container, flatten the top before returning the leftovers to the freezer. This way you can re-spin it the next day. The Mix-In feature is a bit, “meh,” but that is the worst thing I can say about it. If store-bought ice cream isn’t your thing for some reason – this is a great product for you. I love mine.

Love It!I’ve had other ice cream makers but this is the best! It’s like having your own ice cream shop! You must have more than one container (to have different flavors) and make sure your freezer is not set too cold. Our favorites are fruit sorbets that you can make with canned or fresh fruit for a healthy treat!

A Little more practice and it will be perfectThis was my first time using creami I made one pint chocolate and one pint of vanilla ice cream. It was super easy to make and freeze. As for the machine, It took a while to put the thing together. It does have directions and pushing it hard to lock it in place is how it works. I was terrified of breaking it. I did not have to be. I followed the directions to a T. I liked the vanilla more than the chocolate. For some reason, the chocolate tasted like ice milk….not ice cream. I don’t know what went wrong. I used whole milk and heavy cream. I think once I get the hang of it I will be whipping out some good treats. I love Ninja products and it was nice to add this one to my collection.UPDATE: Now that I’ve learned how to use it, this is fabulous. I love the ability to make ice cream for dessert on a moment’s notice. My only complaint is the noise, but it is only for a few minutes.

Awesome!I got this on Prime day for a great price. I didn’t want or need it—at least I didn’t think I did!!! But now I’m use it all the time and hardly ever buy ice cream at the grocery store, because this is so easy and I can control what ingredients are going in there. I like making hybrid oat milk (for the milk called for in the recipe) and keeping some cream in there as well. You can’t tell the difference. Soooo creamy and easy to add mix-ins!!

Great Concept But Results Are Not Greatfour stars because the machine is great but i don’t really care for the ice cream results. this product is easy to use you just have to plan ahead. it takes 24 hours if freezer time before you can make your ice cream. making the ice itself is easy and fun because the machine does everything for you and even tells you exactly what to do when. it’s very cool and self-sufficient that way.however, two issues. the biggest issue i have with the machine is that you’re limited if you don’t purchase extra containers as the standard model comes with only one container. if you are god with a punt at a time this is not an issue or you can purchase extra containers but they’re on the pricey side. the second issue is that the quality of ice cream that results is not that great. at least for me. i didn’t care for the mouth-feel. something was off…greasiness in the roof of your mouth or something? i didn’t care for the recipe with cream cheese. i like it in cheesecake but it’s off -putting in ice cream. i’ve made homemade ice cream using my traditional ice cream maker and making actual custard. the results are much better.having said that, the ice cream that results is better than standard grocery store brand (not the premium brands). it’s pretty easy to make. and you can customize with add-ins that suit your taste. the recipes included in the booklet are easy to follow. so if you don’t know how or don’t want to put in that much effort to make the custard, tempering eggs, etc, this is a great machine. it is on the pricey side but i know many people willing to pay the price tag to have easy homemade ice cream and other frozen treats.the machine itself is pretty amazing. i have only made ice cream in it. very trendy.

Must first use blender on fruit ingredientsArgh. I was so disappointed to discover that I have to first blend my frozen fruit in a separate blender. Strawberries then are supposed to be strained through a mesh strainer.Bottom line, if you don’t have a strong blender to break up frozen fruit you’ll need to buy one in order to make fruit sorbet or ice cream.Other than that, the final product is so beautifully creamy and smooth. I do highly recommend this ice cream/sorbet maker, but only if you have a good blender. 🙂
