No smoke when I grill, it’s wonderfulI have a grill pan, but every time I used it, the kitchen filled with smoke and the smoke alarm goes off. This new grill promised that it would be “smokeless grilling” and it is!!!!!! I have grilled, chicken, hamburgers and steak, and not one bit of smoke. The secret is a tray with water under the grill and all fat falls into the wanter and not on the heating element. It also has a griddle to make pancakes, etc, and works beautifully. Both the grill and griddle are non stick which makes clean up a breeze. The grill is large enough to cook two steaks, or 2 chicken breasts and 4 thighs at the same time, and I can make 8 pancakes at one time on the griddle.

I had difficulty cooking anything but steaksThis is the best indoor cooking tool I have ever used….with one exception, albeit a big one….it is only ( for me anyway ) absolutely top notch for cooking steaks. They turn out perfectly, very juicy, the exact color of sear I desire on my steaks, and I like em rare, this will put a perfect char on the outside leaving the inside quite rare if I set it up to do so.On the other hand, I had ZERO luck in trying to accomplish the same thing cooking chicken. To be fair, the model I bought did not come with any cookbooks, however, having cooked for over 50 years, I have a pretty good idea what it takes to at least cook chicken, in about anything I might add,. However, despite several attempts, including cooking chicken at a much lower temp for a longer time, I still find the outside of the bird always gets way to dark before the inside even gets to begin cooking. Now, I have to admit that in my younger days, enjoying all of my meats very, very rare, I tried chicken only half cooked ( at best ) when I was young and considerably dumber than I am now ( which required some effort on my part! ) and noticed that like my steak, chops, roast, etc, the chicken had much more flavor half raw than it did dried out cooked very well done. So, for years I ate chicken that was cooked, at the very best case , still mostly raw, in reality it was only a few clicks from mostly uncooked at all. It was so rare that many of the times I would have to fight a vein in the drumstick that was hanging on to the main body and refused to let go, I would hang on as well and pull so hard eventually the verin would snap, often slapping me in the face like a broke rubber band, sending a little spray of chicken blood in the faces of anyone around me. Fortunately, there were usually very few of them, most were off in a corner dry heaving at the time.Sorry, I tend to tell too much, so honest about things I should keep to myself they are embarrassing, but I was taught to always tell the truth. Military parents, nuff said. Lucky to have had them. At any rate, I have NEVER been able to properly cook anything but steaks in this device properly, but cook them well it does in incredible fashion, and I am extremely impressed with that aspect. I think the main problem is that I have no guidelines to use, I bought this not from the ” as seen on TV” commercial which as a ton of stuff with it ( including 2 cookbooks ) I did not need at a much higher price than Amazon , and Amazon with their incredible customer support, return policy, amazing number of choices of anything will always be our first choice for anything we want, even though they do not always have the best price, in fact, often they are not, but close enough for government work, so my model, which came with all the parts needed, did not come with any cookbooks.I will find, order, online look, etc for cookbooks to see if I am doing something wrong, after a good retrial, I may revise the rating. BTW, I know you must be wondering two things…was that a BS story about liking to eat nearly raw chicken ( every single word was true, kinda embarrassed to say ) and do I do it now? Well, NO, ..not any longer….( by the way, even back many years ago, people looked very odd at me when gobbling down a half cooked chicken, back then a restaurant would actually cook it anyway you wanted it, if you were to ask for it now, probably get asked to leave immediately, arrested if possible, as it is HIGHLY frowned on, I know, I tried it a few times in the last few years as a joke really…went over like a turd in a punchbowl ) .when I was young it was in the 50’s, 60′ 70’s and none of the stuff was out about how dangerous that was, so it has been stopped in its tracks. Which begs the question, if its as dangerous as they say, how did I get away with decades of a practice they try to tell us now is like the kiss of death on the first shot? I think we were so ignorant of the facts back then many things now considered as similar to trying to croak yourself were simply fine back then, and while they may have cause a problem on occasion, it seemed to be very rare, not sure what has changed over the years.

Does what it says but not for meThrow me in the group of people that saw the infomercial for this and just had to have one. Really, I own an outdoor electrical grill made by Masterbuilt that is good. We live in the Smoky Mountain area and aren’t allowed to have open flame grills (HOA). A new problem comes up. It gets very cold here, it was snowing on Halloween with a 22 degree temperature. Wait until January-February. It’s not unheard of to go 40+ days without going over 32. So, my one food I always want is grilled salmon. I bought this Power Smokeless Grill for the sole reason of grilling salmon 2-3 times a week, just for me. My wife doesn’t eat seafood and the kids only like shrimp. I was a little hesitant because of the price. It’s not that it’s that high, it’s that I’m the only one going to be using it.I didn’t look at the size of it. I’ll accept blame on that since it’s something I should have noticed. While it’s not huge or massive, it is as big as our Crock Pot that we make 10 servings of soup in. And it’s not that big of a cooking surface. The cooking surface is 13×9, the overall grill is 20x13x9 (including lid handle). As I took it apart to remove the plastic, I noticed the fan system and the pan in the bottom that you put water in. It’s a good design but there’s not much magic going on here. The fan pulls the smoke away from the food, blows it downward over the water and it removes the smoke. I’m not trying to put the machine down but it is a very simplistic design. If you want to see this effect, sit a grilling grate across a sink, run water in the sink, put a hot, smoking food on the grate and turn a fan on blowing down at the food.Once I had everything put together, I decided to try it out and had two 6 ounce pieces of salmon ready to go on it. I pushed the power button … nothing happened. Pushed it again … a loud beep sounded. I am not exaggerating this, our 14 year old schnoodle, ran and got under a bed. She’s not afraid of anything except smoke detectors, batteries start to die in smoke detectors, one beep and she’s running. I won’t say the beep is as loud as a smoke detector warning “chirp” but it’s pretty close. I started turning the heat up, each press when they registered, let off the loud beep. That “when they registered” was 3 presses with no reaction. That’s going to automatically make me question the quality. But I was hungry. It heated up very fast (less than 2 minutes), it even had smoke coming off it before I put the salmon on it. I turned the fan on, oh really, it beeps too? Maybe there is a mute button? In 14 minutes on 375, both pieces of the salmon were done, some grill marks, flaky on the outside like I like it. It was good. That impresses me and it’s why I gave it a 3 star overall and 5 star on easy to use. The fan worked without a problem. It even pulls the smell out of the smoke. I noticed that only because our younger dog might as well be a pig. If he smells food, he (all 11 pounds of him) will knock any and everyone out of his way. He didn’t come running until he saw me removing the salmon.I don’t think it’s easy to clean, it’s not terribly hard but there are three parts that could require cleaning and they’re stacked on top of each other. So, you have to remove each part and clean it, reassemble. I think it’s average at best for value for money. The outdoor electric grill I mentioned earlier was under eighty dollars and it came with a stand and cover. Where I felt the most letdown was the “digital thermostat”. What’s with the beeping? A beep for every time I press the up temperature button? The fan too? And I don’t even know that it’s a digital thermostat. Each press makes it go up 50 degrees. It’s like a dial thermostat without the dial and replaced by hard to press buttons that beep. Last, it’s too big and too much trouble for me to use it just for me.I also have a Griddler that is only used for making grilled/toasted sandwiches and we have several George Foreman contact grills. This is similar to those and to me should be priced similar too. For some, this will be a good option for indoor grilling. It cooked the salmon well and was easy to use. I could see it being useful if you have 2-4 people to feed and have plenty of counterspace. It’s a good product that could use some updating.

I didn’t return it so there’s thatI like it a lot but there is still smoke while cooking. Easy enough to clean. I didn’t return it so I didn’t hate it. I think it would be a good gift to give.
