So Far, So Good + A Few Tips For UsingI read all the reviews carefully and decided to roll the dice on this little toaster oven. (I have limited counterspace so the small footprint was a factor.)So far, I’ve used it to bake frozen mozzarella sticks and egg rolls, and to reheat pizza. It performed as expected, but I did notice if the solid tray is too far forward (closer to the door), all the heat rises from the back of the oven resulting in uneven heating. The first time I baked eggrolls, the rear sides were super dark brown & the fronts were barely golden. So, the next time I baked egg rolls, I pushed the solid tray a little further back from the door so that heat from the bottom element could rise evenly around it (both front & back), and it made a huge difference in the unit’s ability to cook evenly. (Now I suspect this may have been part of the issue with some of the other reviewers who mentioned an issue with uneven heating.)I’ve also used it to bake mozzarella sticks a handful of times, and they came out great.I’ve reheated leftover pizza several times, and it was consistently perfect. I personally dislike microwaving pizza to reheat it because it makes the crust so soggy, so I’ve always done it in the oven. Usually from a cold conventional oven at 350°, it takes about 15 minutes to reheat pizza to my liking. With this little unit, it only took about 9 minutes at 350° from a cold oven to achieve the same effect. In fact, I would even say this toaster oven did a slightly better job because the crust didn’t dry out quite as much as it does in a conventional oven. Happy about that. This being my first time with a toaster oven, I did notice some things worth emphasizing… Because it’s so small and heats up much faster than a large conventional oven—and the heat is so confined in such a small space, I found all the items I used to bake or reheat in my regular oven cooked much much faster in this little toaster oven—without exception. I took nothing for granted and kept a close eye on everything the first several times I used it, making careful note that the cooking times were vastly shorter than my conventional oven. If I had set it for the same time as it used to take in my regular oven, there’s no doubt in my mind everything I made would’ve been burnt to a crisp. So, it’s worth the extra time to keep a close eye on everything the first several uses and make some tweaks in your tray and rack placement until you figure out what works.I also discovered that you can turn the wire rack upside down from its default position and insert it on the same level just above the solid tray (see photos)—and that made a perfect configuration for all my uses so far.Being a newbie to toaster ovens, I never expected the trays to automatically pop out when I opened the door, nor would I ever think about retrieving items from an oven (especially one that small) without using a heat-safe spatula, tongs, or an oven mitt. So personally I would not add those to my list of complaints like other reviewers have.*Note: Minus one star because it’s so tiny inside I’m not able to buy standard toaster oven muffin pans and such for it. I’ll have to take some careful measurements and keep an eye out for accessories that are small enough to fit, but it’s fine for what I’m using it for thus far.I haven’t tried broiling yet, but if I do—or if I experience a problem with the unit—I will come back and update this review. After about a month of regular use, I will say so far, so good.

No clear instruction manual includedI like using this product but it didn’t have a decent instruction manual included, so it took a lot of guess work to know how to use it properly. Like what do the levels on the top of the machine mean?
Heads up. –
Works good for painting fishing jigsI bought this so I could cure the paint on fishing jigs when I’m painting them. Previously I was using the oven in the kitchen. This fits right on the work counter and does a fine job of baking the paint. It also cools down quickly so I’m very happy.

The Replacement is Great.I would give the new machine a 5, but it is a replacement of the one I got a few days earlier that deserved only a 3. I do give Amazon Product Support a 4.75 (really, they have it, and they spent a lot of time troubleshooting with me); the only issue was difficulty understanding the reps (Philippine and Indian) with the first machine. With the new machine, the Jamaican rep spoke nearly perfect American English. The first machine never reached 450; only a max of 410, even after 17 minutes, and its warmup times at each setting were slow. By sharp contrast, the replacement machine reached 450 in 11:00 minutes and held there 14 minutes until I stopped the test. It held 350 for 18 minutes until I remembered to stop the test. On the way up, it reached 250 in 3:00 minutes, 300 in 4:00, 325 jn 6:00, 350 in 7:30, 375 in 8:15, 400 in 9:30, 425 in 10:15, and 450 in 11:00. I set each temperature level individually instead of setting the machine at 450 and timing the increments along the upward climb. I tested the original machine with 5 thermometers and used the two more accurate ones for the test of the replacement. By the way, the most expensive thermometer of the 5 was the slowest to register temperature. As for cooking – corn on the cob, roasted beets, and marinated tofu steak came out excellent. Broccoli rather dehydrated despite being lightly covered in oil. Tofu took several squeezing and marinating attempts and never got truly crispy, but this is likely due to my using 3/4″ thick 3×5 “steaks” rather than small cubes. So far, the new replacement is an excellent machine even at its original price of $100, so my $75 sale price was a real score. I did buy the 4-year warranty for $10. Unlike Best Buy’s which expires if you have to replace a product only once, the Amazon Assurion policy actually covers you for the full four years, the rep assured me.

DisappointingIt’s difficult to find any white appliances anymore. So after finding this little toaster oven, which was exactly the size and color we want, and which received over 6,000 4+ star ratings, I was very happy. That happiness didn’t last long. The first thing I noticed was the door didn’t open fully. Next, the rack seemed somewhat bent (not the part that slides in to the side rails) but the body. It still fit into the oven but seemed off kilter. The booklet said “For the first time only” to set the oven to 450° for 15 minutes to burn off any residue oil, etc. Throughout the entire 15 minutes there was a clicking sound followed by the elements dimming, another click and the elements would light up again. If this was supposed to happen I think it would be mentioned in the booklet so people wouldn’t have to wonder if this was normal. Based on experience with other toaster ovens, this, in my opinion, isn’t normal. So I got in touch with Midea, the parent company I guess, and spoke with a nice person who tried to be helpful but ultimately could only “guesstimate” that it was normal. Not satisfied, I contacted an Amazon support person through their messaging. At first he said that the power supply might somehow be the reason why the oven wasn’t powering on properly. He told me to plug the oven into another, different outlet and do the 15 minute thing again. Before I did that I mentioned that our other toaster oven, also 1000 Watts never had any issues powering up or dimming. Then I went to the kitchen, plugged the oven into a different outlet. Same thing happened. After the 15 minutes I came back and saw that he had answered and said that there was no need to check it because he was going to request a replacement for me. After some discussion I decided that I just didn’t want a replacement of this oven and opted to return it instead. UPS is picking it up on Monday. Let me just say that the shipping box the oven came in was in excellent condition and the oven was packaged in heavy Styrofoam around it’s sides. So any issues, door not opening fully, bent rack and the clicking/dimming are not shipping related. It’s where it’s made that is the problem. I am annoyed and somewhat upset that I now have to do another search for a reliable and safe toaster oven. (are there any?) On the other hand, I think of it this way, especially now in light of Covid and what’s going on in the country: This is a minor inconvenience. The world won’t end if I have to butter my bread after it’s toasted. As my mother used to say – “this should be your biggest problem.”
