Simple job to swap out the thermostat. I have an early ‘04 f350 which is the same as the 2003, so we have a small bracket that sits on top of the thermostat with (2) 13mm nuts. The exhaust back pressure sensor screws into the bracket.I also undid the fuel line closest to the thermostat from the fuel bowl as it gave me more room to access the right hand 13mm nut and bolt. The part is an Identical match to what I believe is the original part. I’m doing a coolant flush and adding the Mishimoto coolant filtration system I bought here from Amazon and I highly recommend for any 6.0 powerstroke. I figured while doing the fluid flush, let me change out the hoses along with the thermostat and a deep clean of the degas bottle too.Cheers

OEM quality is always best. Reasonable price for an OEM part. I think my old one was stuck open, because once I installed this one the temp got to 190 and stayed there. Before that it would often be lower based on ambient temperature. I replaced it primarily because the truck needed a radiator and I always replace the t-stat when doing a radiator, but after I did I noticed on my electronic scanner that the temp was where it should be. Definitely blows hotter heat in the winter, and its better for engine wear to run the engine at the intended temperature. Fairly easy install. A wobble extension comes in handy. Take the t-stat and hose off together, then swap the hose over and reinstall. There isn’t much room to mess with that spring clamp with it in place. Make sure the old o-ring comes with the old one, or remove it to avoid a leak due to stacked o-rings.

Original thermostat had a date code of 2003. After two decades of reliable service it finally gave up and hung wide open. This made our recent drive down I-5 in 38*F weather a bit cold.Replaced with the factory new part and it works well. Genuine Motorcraft is the only way to go. Replacement take a bit longer than expected as you have to remove and replace some of the plumbing. Be prepared to disconnect intake, boost tube, fuel lines, upper radiator hose, and exhaust temp/pressure tube.

I use these in my 2005, f250 with a 6.0 diesel engine, the 6.0’s are fickle and there’s been a lot of issues with oil coolers ect but this thermostat will help keep your truck in the operating range its supposed to be in. For the 6.0 it’s best to run a coolant filter and change the filter every few months, I back flush my coolant system and have pulled at least an ounce of sand and debris (the blocks are cast in sand, residual sand circulates in the coolant system). If you notice more than a 15 degree difference in engine oil temp and coolant temp you may want to first change the thermostat, if that doesn’t help then back flush the coolant system.

The replacement thermostat was exactly the same as original.

Just as stated. Fits perfectly well. Exact footprint from the original version. Replaced a 16 years old t-stat, rubber seal was falling apart.
