First off, in case you want to know, the WHITE version is MODEL 1049. That’s what I’m talking about here. Bluetooth and WiFi both work but, the WIFi doesn’t try to connect to a WiFi, it creates its own HOTSPOT. You log into it to get to camera. As far as I can tell the Bluetooth is just for control of SnapCam. Video is on WiFiYou have to have the ION SnapCam LE app to activate the Camera WiFi. It uses Bluetooth to link to SnapCam, and turn on WiFi. Then you need ION Camera + app to access the Camera. My SnapCam shows as SNAPCAM_bdbb on search. The password for it is 123456789 The ION site will tell you different, but I have three of these and the ID’s are different, but the PASSWORD was same, 123456789 on all. Now the hard part, the Camera app does connect to the thing. It can take pictures or start/stop Video. Also change the video quality up/down, and some more you’ll find in there. APP even tries to view live feed, but on the firmware that comes in the camera, live feed doesn’t show up. So you can’t see what you are going to take picture of on APP, or look at the pic files in camera. Video is MP4 also. The app can change that too.SnapCam gets very warm, when the thing runs for a while, mainly due to the WiFi, I think, and Battery run time is very short at first, then seems to get longer after more charging. The dates inside the sealed package all are 2015. So I imagine some of these may take longer for the first charge, and one of mine got pretty hot on the first charge, but did charge up finally. A few may not even charge, Lithium batteries don’t like sitting that many years not charged. Mine takes very good pics and video, haven’t tried any of time events etc. but those do show up in the APP. I have not updated the firmware yet, account you have to put the new firmware into a sub directory, on your SD card in a folder named FIRMWARE, and to do that I will have to dig out a laptop. I use iPad and that’s a harder hurdle, to move files around. From what I read the new firmware will support live streaming, as is it won’t. So if you don’t have patience this may be a challenge. These things do have potential, and are real bargain, at the price. Not plug and play though. I’ll follow up, when I get the firmware changed, on range etc.

The size is great making for a nice spy cam kinda thing. The touch tap is cool and works good. The magnet and clip idea is cool too. It’s all a great concept. The image quality is ok. Its 720p it’s a little off on the exposure adjustment and white balancing but the colors are good. It’s a good image in well lit conditions but as soon as the lighting drops so does the image quality. Gets grainy as expected. It’s still better than most cheap Chinese spy cams though. The audio is low to my surprise bc I looked up some vids and the audio seemed decent but the one I got the volume is way low. 😐 I needed to boost it at 400% just to hear it ok. Very disappointing audio. This would be a great little camera if the audio was good and if it had image stabilization. Don’t understand why nearly all wearables don’t have image stabilization. You have very shaky footage without it. Battery life is better than expected for the size of this camera. It claims 2hrs and it’s pretty close. It charges ok too doesn’t take hours like other cams. The form factor and functionality make this a desirable camera but it lacks audio IS and a stronger magnetic connection. The magnets are good sticks to metal objects just fine but it doesn’t attach to the back of the camera strong enough but you have 2 magnets so there’s a work around.I’m bumping this up a star bc I like it. Wish there was a 1080p version along with image stabilization and better audio. The audio however when boosted doesn’t produce a lot of noise from a volume increase like others so that’s a good thing.I thought maybe I got a defective unit so I purchased another and it’s the same. At the price of $18 it’s not bad. Any higher I wouldn’t bother.

I got this because it was a good concept and very inexpensive. The problem is that the hardware is a bit finicky and now does not work at all. When I pulled it from the package I was able to use it to take a couple of pictures, but when I tried using it with the ION Camera + app it said that it required a firmware upgrade. Unfortunately Ion has pulled all the support information for the product off the web. I managed to get some help from the current website in the form of a chat, but the update did not work and now neither does the camera. The accompanying documentation is sparse, so the lack of online troubleshooting information is a problem. I thought that I might be out of luck because Ion filed for bankruptcy last year, but the human support has been pretty good so far. I had another online chat and we walked through a few things. It turns out that the update I got via email was for another camera. Updating the firmware file did not help, however.I am returning the camera to them as soon as I can find appropriate packaging.Update: Sent the camera (minus any accessories) back and receipt was confirmed about a week ago (6/10) Now waiting to hear back from ION.Final Update: It took a month, but I got my replacement today (7/8) charged it up and it works mostly as advertised (if a bit loudly). I’ll have to take it out for a better test run, but the picture quality is on par with a standard phone camera, and I was able to use the app and also just take pictures with the device by itself. So my verdict is that it is good for the price. The customer service was mostly good, one rep was actually pretty amazing in fact. This was marred by the fact that it took so long to replace and the fact that I had to ask a couple of times about the status of the return (rather than getting an email or something).

Worked like a charm once I reverse-engineered the Android app and wrote my own software 👍✅Uses a high-quality Omnivision sensor with the same video processing IC as the first generation 720p Ring doorbell.✅Colors look incredibly natural, even in indoor lighting.✅Can livestream over WiFi while recording to the SD card simultaneously!✅ Can livestream over WiFi without an SD card inserted.❌ Is somewhat picky about which types of SD cards it supports. Also appears to be very picky about how you FAT format the disk.❌ Horrible battery life, especially in livestreaming mode. May make a custom case with a bigger LiPo battery 🔋

Product received. Connected but live stream did not show an image. Product plastic not thick for punishment. Website looks great, but video links are not set up. I would give them another 3 months to get the bugs out before I would try again. Great concept, but poorly executed.

This is a very good product, I’ll tell you how to work it, install the app, then hold the power button on the camera for 3 to 4 seconds then scan the camera on the app, connect to it the click the power button 2 to 3 times thenew click on live stream, that’s it! Remember to get a micro SD card or it won’t record or take pics, but all you can do is the live stream without the card. The live stream is a little bugy (if that’s a word).but after all its a neat little device I tried it on my bike and the magnet never failed, it works good if you put it on your front door (if it’s metal) to wait for company.

When trying to connect this to iPhone would not configure so I contacted the support group by email they were no help would only tell me to refer to the instructions and online support group. Contacted the support group by phone and after 1 hour of talking back and forth they told me the software on the iPhone had issues and I should wait for the next release, when I asked them when that release was to take place they said they did not know.So I now have a product that is next to useless until the next release …. UGH …. Oh well live and learn!Worst product I have bought … DO NOT BUY!

I EXPERIENCE SO MANY INTERRUPTIONS WHILE USING THIS DEVICE INCLUDING THE BATTERY LIFE IS SHORT I AM DISAPPOINTED WITH THE ION CAMERA SNAPCAM AND APP I THREW THE ION CAMERA SNAPCAM IN THE TRASH. No longer functioning !

Total junk. Not iOS compatible, couldn’t find WiFi (or if it does, the iOS isn’t seeing it!), The “update firmware” instructions don’t work, and a chat with the company online refers me back to the 2″ x 2″ multi-language product booklet that doesn’t clarify.sending it back and will be remembering “I got what I paid for” when looking for a bargan!
