Convenient, simple, and reasonably priced (in my book, at least)My machine was plugged up so badly (after only 6 months of use) that it appeared a loss. But, one bottle of this and it was as good as new.I’ve seen people complaining about the cost, but $16 a year (1 $8 treatment every 6 months) is an absolute pittance to maintain a $400-$1000+ machine. An air filter for my HVAC costs $25 every 6 months. Oil for the car, $45+ for 5 liters. Water filter for the fridge $30. So, I see $8 to maintain my espresso maker as chump change.Yes, you can get lactic or citric acid thru other sources and blend your own and save $3-5 per treatment, but chances are slim you know how to do that correctly and safely, so enjoy this simple, convenient product and remember, you’re saving hundreds of dollars a year by making your own (hopefully better tasting) espresso.

Easy to use with one comment.I knew I had to descale my Gaggia Classic Pro. After checking with the Gaggia web site, I bought this Gaggia Descaler.Yes, it was easy to use, but, the documentation included was very thin on the information. This solution was recommended for my machine by the manufacturer. However, determining the correct amount for the treatment was another matter. The manufacturer could do a better job on the directions. I know it would be hard to include on such a small bottle, but, surely the website could include clear directions for how to descale the Classic Pro correctly. The product was easy to use, and, with some caution at hand, I got the job done.

Saved my GaggiaI have owned a Gaggia Synchrony Logic RS for about 4 years. I always did the required maintenance stated in the manual but often used a cheaper descaler. My machine eventually stopped dispensing coffee. Everything else seemed to be working. Coffee beans would grind and you could hear the pump working and the hot water dispenser worked but no coffee. I contacted Whole Latte Love. They suggested I try descaling it again before sending it out for repair. This time I used the Gaggia Descaling Solution. Once again I have a working coffee machine and great coffee/espresso. I will never use a different descaler again. Thanks to the Whole Latte Love Company !

This stuff completely backfired on meI use this stuff all the time for my Gaggia Classic. I use the machine a lot. Probably 4-5 double espressos a day. So, I have been decalcifying every 60 days. My machine was working fine up until this past decal, now it is locked up tight with not a drop coming out. Taking the machine apart is very involved. Right now I’m trying to let the solution soak in from the other direction, with the machine upside down. Anyone have this happen? Solutions?

Obnoxiously expensive but effective solutionThis might contain inkjet printer ink – because it’s hard to think what other component could make a few grams of citric acid and a cup of water cost so much (and it is clear in the directions that this whole bottle gets used every 3 months). It also contains some kind of “rust inhibitor,” but you have to wonder what rust inhibitor would not compromise the action of the acidic descaler (or be toxic to humans).Other than that, it’s fine.1. The instructions that came packed with mine indicated an initial long cycle or two and then 2-3 minute repeat cycles, not 20-30 minute repeat cycles.2. Watch the tank design of your machine. If the only way to totally empty the tank at the end (to get the last of the descaler out) is to pull it through the front of your machine, you need to let the machine cool for a long time. The descaling process heats everything up a lot.3. My machine did run noticeably better afterward – but not noticeably better than using powdered descaler. The Gaggia liquid is more convenient, but it is not more effective.4. This descaler is not for use on chrome-plated parts like your portafilter. Use Urnex coffee pot cleaner for those. Don’t be afraid to let things soak. You can also fill a “pressurized” filter basket with Urnex to help get the oils off it (the descaler only attacks calcium deposits – not coffee gunk).

works great – but review your manual and You Tube firstWe use it for our Gaggia Titanium machine and it seems to work well. The order was filled by Kanen Coffee LLC and it arrived quickly. Using the decalcifier is easy by adding the product to the water tank and ensuring the level is full. The Gaggia manual explains the process which involves pressing the button with the two-tone oval (button is second from the right on the control panel I think) and opening the steam knob into a large bowl when the display indicates. It takes a half hour or so and must be repeated with just cold water in the tank. The trick is at the end when the tank is again filled and ready for use. Our machine requires ventilation which means using a Gaggia tool to force-squeeze water into the rear of the machine while the steam / water knob is open. The firm Whole Latte Love has a great video tutorial on this on YouTube. Good product. Thanks Gaggia, Kanen, and Amazon!

As others have noted, the directions that come with …As others have noted, the directions that come with the solution conflict with those that are printed in Gaggia user manual. I unscrewed the shower disc and cleaned, poured the solution into the tank, filled the remainder of the tank with water, dispersed some water through the brew head, waited 20 minutes, and then every 2 minutes dispersed some water through the brew head and some through the steamer until the tank was empty. I then ran a couple of tanks of plain water through the machine (using both the brew head and steamer) to rinse. I reattached the shower disc at the end. The solution is expensive but it was effective in unclogging a completely unusable steam spout.

Use ANNUALLY or not at all!Hadn’t de-scaled my Gaggia Syncrony Logic for 6 years, figuring filtered NYC tap water didn’t require it. Although water flow was decent, I finally got around to it. One week later the pump stopped working. Sure enough, a bottleneck from too much accumulated scale blocked the steam valve / wand and it needed repair. Costly mistake! I’m sure the unit would have lasted several more years without de-scaling, albeit a shorter lifespan than doing this regularly.
