Update (9/12/22):
I’ve been using this for a while and watched more YouTube videos and my favorite coffee barista guru James Hoffman said he’s not much a fan of this tool. After using it for a few weeks I have to agree. It’s a very well made tool, but the functionality of it is somewhat limited. The depth adjustment level for the distributor side doesn’t go low enough to prevent me from losing a fair amount of coffee grounds over the side of the portafilter. I have it at its lowest level and it’s still not enough. Then it’s hard to get the exact right level of tamping because each grind is slightly different. A free hand tamper does a better job at compensating for this. So, I rarely use this tool anymore. I prefer using the needles distribution technique, tapping the portafilter on the counter to compact the grounds, then free handing the tamp using a high quality weighted hand held tamper.
I found out about this tool on a YouTube video on techniques to improve espresso. Using a grounds “distributor” makes a huge difference in the quality and consistency of the extraction. The build quality of this tool is really nice. The video I watched used the “Crema” brand of the same tool, but it was much higher priced at $45, almost double this brand. They look identical from looking at the pictures so I don’t know why that brand is so much higher priced.
I highly recommend this tool. My espresso shots have never tasted so good!!

I previously reviewed and complained that adjusting wasn’t as fluid as I hoped. I now see a dent in the stainless steel and that the tamping side is locked into an uneven (non-level) position. A few days after I purchased the tool, I dropped it on the kitchen floor. Funny… I examined the marble tile for damage but not the distributor/tamper! The integrity of the tool is lost.
I have a degraded MCP joint on my left hand, and loss of strength in my (dominant) right hand–why I dropped it in the first place– so a tool like this may not be best.

I have a Sage Bambino Plus and Sage Grinder but with a bottomless portafilter, this lever/tamper doesn’t fix issues with the bottom of the puck – still getting a lot of spurts and channels. It is nicely adjustable so you can set it up to work with a reasonably filled basket assuming your grinder produces the same volume / weight consistently. It just won’t get to the bottom of the puck. Have bought a WDT tool and will try that – if that can fix the final issues then this leveller will be back in business. Till then I have to go back to the pressurised basket.

I will like it to be i little more tight on the fit but overall its really good.

This fits great with my Barista Touch 54mm portafilter.
Once size perfectly distributes the espresso grinds.
The other size tamps evenly and consistently, with a fantastically even, flat and firm tamp!
I noticed an immediate change in the quality of my espresso shots!
I had a suspicion I wasn’t tamping consistently because sometimes it seemed like the right side wasn’t flowing as much water. This definitely helped and I swear the espresso started smelling even better.
Adjusting the perfect height is easy, you just hold down the black part and twist the metal part you want to adjust for the right height (I just googled how to know what the right height was).

I liked the look of the tool. It is easy to use – perhaps a little heavy. Whilst the metal parts are superbly machined, the metal itself is soft and is now marked through ordinary use . Acquisition of the tool has enhanced my barista skills!

Didn’t think a distributor + tamper would make such a difference but it definitely improves the quality of my morning espresso. Works perfectly with breville machines.

I got this to replace the razer leveler that came with my breville barista machine and was lost in a move. It’s ok, but more a tamper than leveler. Plus, coffee gets stuck in the leveling grooves.
