Just what you need to freshen up your moka express

I have an unidentifiable genuine Bialetti “6” cup ( 1 MUG, I have a serious habit … ) stainless moka pot, that is at least 15 years old. It doesn’t match any of the 100s of online pictures that I’ve looked at. The RUBBER gasket originally fitted eventually deteriorated to the extent that the pressurized liquid was seeping out from the screw join, and wasn’t retaining the perforated filter plate properly. Careful, workshop, measurement showed that I needed an outside diameter of 71 mm, and an ID of 56. Some sellers had these listed but unavailable. Some that had them were asking a huge price, and their descriptions were suspect.
I bought this product because there were three gaskets, it came with a replacement filter plate, and was fractionally oversize. It was the correct material for a stainless pot, being rubber rather than silicone. Having three gaskets gave me the opportunity to “have another go” if my first attempt at trimming down the gasket to size didn’t work. Having the correct filter plate for these gaskets meant that I could simply use that plate, and not have to modify the inner hole which would have been much harder. VERY careful trimming with sharp scissors (it took quite a time, and a steady hand) resulted in success on the first attempt, and I have two spares for the future.
If you have an odd sized Moka pot that needs a new gasket, consider this option. It worked for me. Mugs of coffee again.

I bought this for the gaskets. I also used the new filter that came with the gaskets. The new filter changed the way the coffee brewed. It seems to be shaped a little differently than the original filter. I eventually went back to the original filter since it was still functional. So, I would recommend using the original filter if it’s in good condition. The gaskets seem to work properly. Seems strange to me that if this product is produced by Bialetti, the filter isn’t the same shape as the original.

My product came quickly and without issue. Although the gasket is of a slightly different design than the original, it made no difference in its functioning whatsoever. Good product for a good value.

Don’t wait as long as I did to install a new gasket on your Bialetti! I wondered why the top half didn’t want to turn as I tried to empty used coffee grinds. The gasket had disintegrated and was gumming up the threads. I used a sturdy wood toothpick to scrape out the remains. Plastic should be good too. Try not to use metal to do this, as you could scratch the moka pot’s aluminum. If you have nothing else to pry with, do it carefully!
Once it was clean, I could pop in the new gasket. As you take the old gasket out, take notice of the proper position the filter requires for reassembly – you should be looking at the ‘popped out’ side of the filter when you’ve done it correctly. The new gasket slips into place easily and holds the filter in place. It is a loose assembly, but as long as you’ve seated the gasket in the grooves, it should not fall out.
Everything fits nicely, so you don’t have to jimmy some knock-off aftermarket parts. You get 3 gaskets in the well made little box, so there’s no sense in trying to stretch its useful life like I did. Plus, you get to practice reading Italiano by ciphering the printing on the box!
Ciao!

This is easy to use and makes delicious espresso. Recommend watching demonstration video online. Note that by 6 cups it means those very small espresso cups. I take mine with cream and sugar and high quality ground espresso, and the results are wonderful.

What a pleasant surprise. The Bialetti mokka has been such a great companion for the last 4 years. It’s only now that it was in strong need of a new gasket and I was really worried I would have to buy a new coffee maker. No need to worry as Bialetti has you covered with all the replacement parts you need. The gasket fits perfectly once you remove the (remnants of) the previous one. I did this by prying it off with a blunt knife, and then washing off the last bits with a dishes scrub. Once done, you have the choice of either replacing the filter, or trying to wash it off (which I did). This is great, as again, the manufacturer does not force you into replacing any additional parts than those that are no longer functional.
I am so in love with my Mokka and I bet this gaskets will give it at least another 10 years of daily use. Well done Bialetti, you designed these things incredibly well, and one can really tell.

Thought these gaskets leaked, but we flipped the filter at some point by mistake. Working great!
