I’ve bought Black and Decker and Mr. Coffee for many years as we always have a pot going. We are hard on our coffee makers. Tried this one because the last 2 Mr. Coffee makers were garbage. This model is easy to set up and simple design/buttons. First time brewing it tonight and it is LOUD. Makes all kinds of noises while it brews. Not sure if that’s just what this maker does, but I don’t have hope that this one will outlast our last one. On the fence as to whether this coffee maker is worth $40.

I am copying this review below verbatim from another review because of how freaking important this is. Now and then (but not always), I had a problem with this pot overflowing the basket. Coffee grounds EVERYWHERE. This was driving me insane. Was the water being pushed through too fast or…? Nope. It’s the stupid basket spring, Here’s the guy’s review and ANSWER:
If your’re having problems with the basket overflowing, it is because of the spring that is on the stopper on the basket is too strong. Instead of opening the stopper, it can sometimes just lift the basket up when you put the pot in place, especially if the lid on the coffemaker isn’t firmly down. The easiest way to solve this is to simply remove the spring altogether. Take out the basket, remove the rubber washer in the bottom of it that holds the stopper in place. The stopper and spring can now be removed. Take the spring off the stopper, replace the stopper, and push the rubber washer back in place to hold the stopper. Problem solved. The spring isn’t really needed anyway, and the stopper will still work just fine. No more overflows.

Quizá y por ecología sería súper útil comprar un filtro circular reutilizable y no del papel tradicional. Nos encantó y muy buena recomendación de usar una vez cafetera con 💧 para eliminar polvo. Por 1ra vez.

I was so surprised to read all the negative reviews regarding this coffee maker. I had my old Black and Decker for at least 7 years. When it finally died, I purchased this one. I like it because there are really no bells and whistles on it. It is straightforward and turns off in 2 hours plus it has a clock. I haven’t had any problem filling the water to 10 cups. No overflow or grounds floating around. As I said, so far so good. I have had this coffee maker 3 1/2 months. I do clean it monthly with white vinegar.

My other Black and Decker coffeemaker took a dive after so many years of use and I wanted another one just like it. This is almost like it. It does have the timer, which I don’t use, the sneak a cup feature, and makes a pot of coffee pretty fast. I do like it. However, I did have to get used to the floating coffee grounds basket and I still find it a hassle. It doesn’t seat in firmly until you close the lid on the machine. The on/off light isn’t visible from a distance since it’s down with the on/off button. But I guess that’s progress. My old machine was a dandy and this one is, too.

Edit: upgraded to 4 stars because it decided to work again.
I had this coffee maker for about a month before it decided to give up on life.
Initially it was very easy to set up and worked great but then, yesterday, the digital clock display was freaking out and wouldn’t stop alternating between the current time and the auto schedule time. After unplugging it and plugging it back in, now it won’t let me set the minutes on the clock and won’t turn on. Well, actually, it will turn on but the clock cannot be set beforehand (i.e. blinking 12, no auto function, super useful). So yeah… The coffee maker I had before lasted 8 years (and actually still works but is a 4 cupper) and this one lasted a handful of weeks. I’m honestly a little shocked that this is a Black and Decker machine.

I bought this as a “spare” coffee maker. Our daily coffee maker is this same model. While I roast my own coffee at home, and have a variety of other coffee making devices, I love the easy timer on this model.
Load the ground coffee & water….program the set brewing time…..wake up to freshly brewed coffee.
No hassles. Excellent tasting coffee.

Unlike my last coffee maker – a Mr. Coffee – this one is very easy to use – foremost, the basket comes out easily for cleaning. Everything works very well and needs little brain power to set clock, brew, etc. Definitely recommend.

Lots of comments talked about how it “leaked” if you didn’t put the pot under the basket correctly. Honestly not a problem, unless you’re not paying attention, then it might be one.. but its worked perfectly for me.
Totally no frills, not even the little “beep”sounds when its done or when the two hour timer turns it off..Not an issue but took a minute to get used to haha.
