Thought I was getting a good deal in the prime event, how wrong was I.
First off the description doesn’t mention the sharp edges, but when you receive it it’s mentioned in the instructions as a warning, take heed after 2 cuts while cleaning it I’ve learned the hard way.
The metal container doesn’t have rounded edges hence the sharp bits, including the handle.
The filter takes ages to let the water/coffee come through, not seconds as suggested, took 30 minutes to fill the thing up as you need to keep topping it up and wait till it goes down, pain in the erse.
Aesthetically pleasing on the eye and looks the business but so disappointing, don’t recommend.

Initially we were impressed with it. Looks nice and seems like it’d make our coffee nicely. However the filter is simply not fine enough to stop the coffee from being bitty. Despite trying fine and coarse ground beans, we still ended up with bits in the bottom.
We have decided to return the item.

UPDATE: Well, it finally happened. Wrestling the glass canister from the steel holder to wash, it slipped from my grasp and broke in the sink. Over the past 6 months, I did get the science down for a good cold brew, and I sort of worked out how to get the lid off, although it was still a big pain. It was a decent run, but not something I’ll buy again in this form.

This is my first attempt at making my own cold brew. I’ve been addicted to the Stok cold brew from the grocery store because it’s the only coffee smooth enough not to need sweetener or tear up my stomach. But since those are $5/bottle, this coffee maker is worth a shot.
After using it for two weeks, I’m underwhelmed, but not disappointed enough to return it. I will continue messing around in hopes I get the right combination to create a great cup of coffee. But here are my observations so far.
Function – I know you’re supposed to use coarse grounds, but I had some auto grind on hand and tried that for a few days. First off, it took a while to fill up the canister with water once the grounds are in the filter because they want to float up, so I had to use a very small stream from the faucet to wet it all and give it time to seep in. Took about 10 minutes to fill the canister this way, and the resulting coffee was very strong, but workable once I watered it down. Buying coarse grounds solved the first issue– much easier to fill with water, but it creates a much weaker brew. I’m using more coffee and steeping for at least 24 hours, but still getting sort of watery coffee that’s not nearly as smooth as I’d like. I compared it with the Stok today for old time’s sake, and I seriously thought someone had put sugar in my coffee because the Stok was so much smoother and less bitter. Oh well. Maybe there’s another trick.
Cleaning – A big part of my decision to purchase this maker was the glass and steel construction being dishwasher safe. They are nice quality and pretty sturdy. However, the glass beaker just slides into the steel holder, and once it’s there, it’s VERY difficult to work out to clean it. I have to grip the top edge and rock it a lot and pull like hell, and then all of a sudden it lets go. I’m afraid I’ll either break the glass while pulling or drop the whole thing wrestling with it like this. The two steel tops have nice quality rubber gaskets that just slip over the edges. I’m afraid pulling them on and off too much will stretch them out, but you really do need to take them off to clean the thing, so I don’t know a good solution.
Fit – The instructions say to just set the filter part on top of the glass without pushing it in when you’re filling it with water. However, the fit is such that the whole thing just slides right down on its own, so I find I have to prop it against the edge and keep pulling it up as I fill. The lid part that fits into the filter is definitely air tight. It makes a satisfying squeal when you push it into place. However, when you are ready to pour your brew, you have to pull the whole top– filter included– out of the beaker with the little handle. This took me a couple of times to get right. It’s tight enough that you have to pull a little hard, but you don’t want it to slosh all over you (which it did). I have to work it out side to side and hold the handle, but I’m getting the hang of it.
Lastly, you’ll need a tall spot in your refrigerator to keep the thing. Fine for most folks, but if you have a fridge like mine where the only tall spots are in the door, you have to angle this thing in and let it take up more room than most things in the door section. Hard to explain, but if I was able to take the lid off without the steel pitcher part, I would just store it in the glass. I’m afraid that if I did that, I’d never get the lid off, so now the whole thing goes in the fridge. Who needs a spot for the milk, anyway?
While this review sounds negative, I’m not yet totally disappointed. I want so bad for this to be my coffee solution! I will keep working on these issues and will update if I’m able to make it work. Stok has had enough of my money to keep them afloat.

This is my second time writing this review since I accidentally exited the page and deleted 3 paragraphs of me praising this product… so here we go again.
This brewer is amazing. Plain and simple. It is easy to use, but if you have any questions it comes with an easy to read instruction manual. As soon as this pot got to my door I noticed that the carrier wasn’t as kind to my parcel as they should’ve been, since it looked like it’d been dropped pretty hard. I was a little scared since I knew this had a large glass carafe. But when I opened it up it was perfect. The pot is secured in hard styrofoam so it didnt even feel the impact it seems. I’m more than grateful for this.
When I inspected the item, I was pleasantly surprised at the weight of it, a heft I didnt expect. It is sturdy and very durable. The silicone seal was a little malformed, but it was merely cosmetic, so I brushed it aside and set to wash the pot before starting my first brew.
Washing it is very easy, all of the pieces come apart, but the glass carafe did not want to come out of the steel holder. The instructions said it could be removed, but I assume it would take a lot of tenacity and elbow grease to make that happen. So I left it alone, I’m too clumsy so I’d probably shatter it if I tried. It’s no big deal, the steel holder is merely a holder, so getting underneath the carafe is not a priority of mine.
It does take more grounds than a normal 5 cup coffee pot, I used about 6 scoops total instead of my usual 2. Needless to say, I was expecting some strong coffee. I’d never had cold brew before, so I was very surprised to find that it would take around 16-24 hours to fully brew. But I’m patient, so I kept going.
Pouring the water takes some patience, you need to make sure the grounds aren’t packed too tight and that they become fully saturated during the pouring. I took it a little bit at a time, pouring until the filter was full, letting it strain and then pouring some more. It was strangely soothing, I suppose I could even meditate while preparing my brew.
After about 10 minutes of pouring and waiting, I reached the top and capped it off to put in the fridge. I set an alarm on my alexa for 16 hours and started my waiting game.
The next morning I woke up around 11 and went to the fridge to grab my pot of gold. The coffee had turned from light brown to a rich dark color that made me anxious to pour a glass. I couldn’t wait to try it.
My stepdad and I, both being coffee addicts, each took a mug and took our sips. Now I normally drown my coffee in cream and sugar, but this time I actually preferred it black! That was a first, but it was because the flavors of my hazelnut, caramel macchiato, and maple blend of grounds were so beautifully emphasized that I didnt even need sugar or cream. My stepdad said it was “bold and robust” as I hear so many coffee drinkers say, and until now I never really got that. But hes right. It was bold, beautiful, flavorful and absolutely wonderful.
I won’t regret this, and with the lifetime warranty than this item has, I will never have to buy a different cold brewer. I truly believe that 10, 20, maybe even 30 years from now I will still be using this gorgeous coffee pot. Thank you to Cafe du Chateau Kitchen for making such a great product.

Yes there are sharp edges so use carefully.
The filter is fine stainless steel.
I use whole beans and smash them with a rolling pin. Best not to use fine ground coffee.
Makes around 4 medium sized tumblers. Lovely on a hot day with crushed ice.

I absolutely love this, I am caffeine intolerant and can only drink decaf. So I have been making decaf cold brew, it’s so good! Best purchase I have made to date, if you’re considering getting one. Do it! You will not regret it (not an ad) very happy!

I worry every time I’ve used this that I’ll get cut by the laser cut steel ring lid assembly. The rubber seals are too tight, so you have to grip down on the the lid assembly to pry it lose, risk getting cut, then the rubber seal falls lose as you dangle the core dripping coffee above the carafe to just pour one serving. The design assumes you’ll consume the whole carafe in 1 go – there’s no way to remove the core and just use the lid – no easy way to dispense single portions at a time, without going thru the aforementioned process. Packaging has safety / sharp edge warnings – but not acceptable manufacture in this day and age. Also, why not provide a dedicated post-brew lid?
