Affordable espresso machineI purchased this machine based on price alone and I’m not disappointed. It was the least expensive espresso machine that I could find available. I simply wanted an espresso machine that was compatible with Nespresso-original line pods. So it was a real bonus for me that this machine also brews ground coffee and Dolce Gusto pods. I’ve tried various types of Nespresso shaped pods…compostable, aluminum, plastic. And I’ve brewed my own coffee grounds. I have not tried any Dolce Gusto pods yet. Each variety (Nespresso, Dolce Gusto, ground) requires a specific adapter. Everything I’ve tried has turned out great!Note: the different types Nespresso pods seem to brew differently and I’ve learned to adjust the programmed water amount each time I switch between the different types (compostable, plastic, aluminum) of pods.

Makes a mess – Update: Nespresso attachment stopped piercing after less than 100 podsMy motor was blown on my old Nespresso and I debated if I even wanted a new one since I drink a lot of espresso and it gets expensive. So I like that this has the option to use your own grinds. So far I’ve only tried the capsule and while I did realize before buying that you have to pull every single capsule, I didn’t realize the attachment would hold and dump so much water everywhere. I can’t seem to find a way to grip it without making a giant mess. Also, I’m so peeved every model puts the water tank on the back since running it without water is what blows the motor. The design is awkward and materials are cheap but it’s versatile and it doesn’t burn my pods like the old one did.Update after 1 year: The Nespresso attachment stopped working. it’s not piercing the pods, just heating them up and burning the coffee inside. I bought some Dulce Gusto pods to test the rest of the machine and that attachment works fine. No idea why the Nespresso doesn’t work because I had unplugged the entire machine and didn’t even use it for 3-4 months when I quit coffee completely after having nausea and vertigo so bad I tried everything I could think of before it was finally diagnosed as vestibular migraines. The Nespresso attachment was in the machine and just sitting there, so I can’t imagine it could have gotten damaged. Very disappointed I didn’t even get through an entire order of pods (I order 100 at a time) with this thing. I’d estimate I had used about 80.

It lasted less than a year.While it worked it was OK; acceptable. It’s easy to use. The volume of coffee/espresso that came out varied unpredictably: I never knew how full my cup would be. The amount of crema was minimal, though that was OK with me at times. After ten months it started releasing little black specks into my coffee. I’m guessing they’re bits of corroded internal parts. I flushed, cleaned and descaled many, many times, to no avail. There seemed to be an infinite supply of black specks. I bought several others to replace it (you can see two of them in the pictures) but they had their own problems, right out of the box. So I gave Fridgidaire two stars for the ten months it did work acceptably.

Works with Nespresso pods, Dolce Gusto pods, and ground coffee.This is basically the same as the HiBrew coffee maker, but a few bucks cheaper. It appears to put out how water than the HiBrew. I’ve used it with Nespresso pods, as well as regular ground coffee both in the provided standard ground coffee holder, as well as in an I-Cafilas adapter for their Dolce Gusto pod holder.All the methods produce good espresso with nice, thick crema on top. There’s not much coffee in those tiny Nespresso pods, so I wouldn’t recommend those for anything other than the single shot setting. The ground coffee holder will contain two level scoops of coffee, which is good enough for the double shot setting, or a really strong single shot.It’s a 19bar espresso maker for less than the price of Nespresso machines, with much more flexibility than those single style machines.

Great if it is not defective.I ordered this machine because is relatively small and has the 3 trays adapters which was a big plus for me as I like trying different brands and styles of coffee.When it arrived size was great, and the brewing was perfectly fine. But the lights buttons kept flickering and then turning in and off randomly. I decided to order a replacement because is there’s some sort of circuit on the lights, it might soon stop working.I got the replacement the next day and guess what? Now the power button keeps beeping and turning on and off and the machine doesn’t work at all.I’m waiting for the second replacement now hoping that this last one will work as it should.If the machine wasn’t so unreliable it’ll be awesome. I love it if it was working properly.So again, if the machine is not defective and works as it should, is a great simple to use machine. Not many options or setting but I realized you don’t really need more than a corto and a lungo setting.
