Love it, but hopefully they’ve improved it.I bought this just over two years ago. It’s everything it says it is, but is also everything many of the reviewers have said it is. When I ordered it, I also bought a “3 year protection plan” which is actually the one year manufacturer’s warranty plus two additional years. (I thought that was a little strange compared to what I have experienced in the past with protection plans). My protection plan was due to expire in less than a year, Sept 2020. The manufacturer’s warranty expired a year ago. With that said, I’ve only had little querky problems all of this time, some of which may have been due to the particular K-cup I was using, something I did incorrectly, or both.I needed to contact the manufacturer shortly after purchase because quite often, when using the single side with a K-cup, it would spray out all over and make a mess, and make me wish I didn’t use the K-cup. I love, and mostly use the brown grounds basket, and in the two years have never had a problem using the grounds basket – up until just recently. I’ve always taken care to clean out the needles of both of the gray pieces. I think the piece that gives the most problem is the round, upper gray needle holder. I can’t imagine that actual “Keurig” coffee makers have anything similar to that annoying piece and still be as popular as they are. On the HB Flexbrew, it is necessary to unscrew that, and clean it. I generally not only run water through the top but also take an open paper clip and poke around in the needle to make sure there’s no grounds in it. As annoying as it is to have to do that, I make sure that I do it at least every other time I use the brown grounds basket and after every time I use a K-Cup. I’ve also routinely poured vinegar through even though this summer we got a reverse osmosis drinking water system and now only use that water in the coffee maker. I was told by the water guy that we shouldn’t ever need to pour vinegar to clean again. Well, I’ve done it twice in the past three months. A few months ago, I started having strange problems where it sounds like it’s going to start pumping the water out, but then the white brewing light starts flashing, the word “needle” starts scrolling across the screen, and eventually the light goes out and everything stops. After pouring vinegar through the single cup side twice, and letting the vinegar sit in it a little longer before brewing the second time, I eventually got it to work again. Then last week it started doing that again, but not only with the K-cup, but even with the brown grounds basket. I had used the brown grounds basket earlier the same day with no problems at all. Now though it does it even without either basket in it. I’ve been messing with it for two days now, and it appears it must be some mechanical problem on the single cup side’s pump or electronic parts. I’ve tried nearly 20 or 30 times to get the vinegar and water solution through the brewer but it just doesn’t get that far before the white light goes out. As far as I know the carafe full pot side works OK. I don’t use that side very often since I’m the only coffee drinker in our home, but have used it a dozen times or so since I’ve gotten it, with no problems so far. I’ve ran vinegar through the full pot side only once or twice so far.So after giving up on ever getting the single cup side to work again, I filed a claim with the protection plan and was given the option of sending it in for repair, or replacement or having a check reimbursement. All three options terminated the protection plan even though I have one more year left on it. I chose the check which wasn’t for the full amount I originally paid for it, but was about 2/3 of it. I was happy with that. So, now I must decide what to buy to replace it. I had always wished that I had a genuine “Keurig” coffee maker, but didn’t want to pay the price for it. I see that Keurig now makes a two-in-one machine with both the carafe and single K-cup, which is enticing. However, as I said, most of my single cup use is with the brown grounds basket. I even recently ordered two more or the brown grounds baskets from the Hamilton Beach web site after they finally had them back in stock, so that I had backup ones if I don’t get around to cleaning it out. I’ve pretty much decided to buy another Hamilton Beach Flex Brew since I will then have extra parts (carafe, baskets, needles, etc.) I’ve been trying to decide whether to get the same color / model or try the insulated carafe model or the white model. I’m leaning towards the white model not only because my appliances are white, but also it is a very new model that just came out on Amazon this past October. I’m hoping that in the two years since I bought my black & silver model that they’ve figured out and fixed some of the problems. I will probably also buy the protection plan but did notice that it is the other company this time and costs a little more than the protection plan on my first model. If the same thing happens again in two years or less with the newer white model, then I guess I will file a claim again if I’m able, and then consider whether to go with a different brand coffee maker or a Keurig when the time comes. I own several Hamilton Beach small appliances and am pleased with all of them so far. That is why I went with the Hamilton Beach Flex Brew system in the first place. It was everything I wanted in a coffee maker and more. I just hope I won’t be disappointed.

So Far So GoodUpdate #1:09/30/2022 – I say #1, because based on the track record of this unit, I’m going to do a later update. We bought it because we love the option of either a pot or single cup for the price.Pros:- pot/cup option- height; our cabinets are 19.25″ from the countertop. I can fill the cup reservoir without moving the machine.- brews relatively quick, but not as quickly as our former Keurig because it does not maintain a hot water reservoir. It heats it when you want it.- pot coffee is consistent and tastyCons:- (kind of a con) you have to use a little more force to close the single cup pod lid because it is not leveraged like a Keurig, it just pushes straight down on the pod.- the cup side threw a “needle clogged” code the first time we tried it. It was new and not clogged. I unplugged it from power and plugged it back in and it never did that again.Note: The unit uses a rubber seal on top of the k-cup (picture). We use a damp napkin to wipe the rubber seal periodically. If you don’t, it will likely get dried coffee on it and lose its seal, which looks like was the problem some had. If you use a k-cup that does not have a good foil top for that seal to press against, it may not seal well. As you can see, I’m cheap and use Walmart cups and they work fine. It’s a little more noisy than a Keurig, but you get used to it.

SlowI didn’t rate the blending because the coffee maker only does bold or regular. I’d love to select the body it’s not that fancy. We purchased this coffee maker to replace a more expensive cuisinart that broke. This coffee maker is ok however when people on the reviews say it’s slow they mean sloth slow. Even the pod takes forever. I have to set the time for the coffee to start brewing a half hour before I get up for work. That is the one down fall to this coffee maker. I wouldn’t recommend it. I’d say keep looking or hope for a sale on one better.

My family is very happy with our purchase. My family loves this coffee pot. It is exactly as described. My husband loves the fact that he can have a single fresh cup of coffee when he comes home from work. Our son & I love the fact that we can make a K cup, or have regular coffee if we want. The carafe makes a pot of coffee really fast and keeps it nice and hot. All in all, this machine does exactly what it describes it should do.

Love this!!This dual coffee maker is amazing!! Love the fact that I have the option of brewing a pot or using one of my kcups for my morning cuppa!! Right now I wake up to coffee that is waiting for me…having set the brewing time a bit before I get up! Then later in the day if I need a quick cup, I use the single cup brew!! It is GREAT!

OutstandingSo far I LOVE IT!! Love that when pouring water into the vessels it does not run down the sides. The spout of the carafe is design to omit over-flow of water. Big plus for me. So far I do not have any complaints. Have used it several times. Easy to use and the extras holders are great!!! Thank you Hamilton Beach for an outstanding product!!

ExcellentI love the fact that I have a choice of whether I want a whole pot or just a cup, I only have to use one machine. The clock and timer are very easy to set. I also like how quickly both sides brew. I wish I had bought this a long time ago!!

Best Three – In One Coffee OptionJust replaced my decade old Keuig w/this fabulous coffee maker. It does it all VERY WELL!. The design allows use of single cup, single pod, or large carafe. Easy to operate and clean. Added value it the good price, you won’t break your budget with this purchase. Highly recommend.

BETTER THAN KEURIGHad this coffee pot once before for years and loved it. When it died could not find one in stock so ended up buying a Keurig dual pot, what a piece of garbage. Right out of the box never brewed a full pot or full cup and no choice of brew strength. The Hamilton beach one works great and can chose reg. or bold brew for both carafe and k-cup. Also costs less than Keurig. Very glad we could find this coffee maker again.

Gives you a choiceTrying to get away from K-cups. This coffee maker gives me a choice without having 2 separate machines eating up counter space. It works great but the only downside is that you have to add water whenever you want a K-cup. I knew that before I made the purchase, so it’s fine. Overall, happy with this machine.
