I’ve been using this for about two weeks now and I’m in love. I used to fill a large measuring cup and nuke it to boil the water. Then I’d steep tea bags in it for a while until it cooled off. Poured it in my 1/2 gallon milk jar and added more water. I drink a TON of ice tea, so it became a bit of a drag if I didn’t replenish it in time. (Yes, First World problems!)
This method takes mere minutes to produce a ready-to-drink 1/2 gallon. We have an ice maker, so that part is pretty easy. But I read you can use cold water as well, just don’t fill to the ice line on the pitcher. I’ve played with the number of tea bags and I’ve landed on 6 black tea and 2 mint tea. I used exactly half with the old method, but it steeped much longer. This combo gives me the same depth and color. We belong to BJs, so getting tea bags in bulk is not a problem. Will experiment with loose tea and use a coffee filter (which will fit perfectly) in the future.
All in all, highly recommend. Can’t speak for duration yet, but I’m liking it quite a bit so far!

My first one lasted 20 years. Have been using my new one for a year now and it’s great. Can’t go wrong!

I had read some reviews this model quit working early in it’s lifetime but bought it anyway. I’ve had it for several months and it’s still perking. I let it run a few minutes and add more water to it to make a full 2 quarts since I don’t put much ice into the pitcher.

This is the 3rd one I have purchased over many years. The other two are still working and we have them at the family cottage where they are used all summer. Only had to replace the pitcher once in 15 years. We bought this one after moving when couldn’t find the one we packed. We have since found it. But Love the black top for steeping tea as it doesn’t show tea stains like the blue ones. But they are all easy to clean, are dependable and make great iced tea. Highly recommend this product.

This is the second Mr. Coffee Ice Tea Maker that I have purchased…. The first one was purchased about 25 years ago and is still making great iced tea. We’ve moved it to a 2nd home.
This model is very similar, except for some minor changes in the tray/basket in which the tea bags are placed. That change in design, in my use, requires additional tea bags to achieve the same strength of flavor.
Also, the “On” switch is more cheaply made, requiring, sometimes, multiple (5 or 6) attempts to turn on the Ice Tea Maker.
It’s still the best Ice Tea Maker that I’ve seen, but these two changes make it a little less quality and I wonder if it will be in service as long as the original model.
