Small amount of corrosion early on. Now it’s getting bad.

Truth be told it’s a great knife for chopping lots of veggies, fruits, etc. However, for the amount of acclaim the product has garnered, I thought the knife would be much sharper.

This is my 7th Japanese Knife and first Nakiri, and it is incredible for the price. Definitely one of my less expensive knives but it holds an edge extremely well, and has a perfect thickness for fast vegetable cutting. The handle is also very unique; it looks like a classic western but is very rounded and symmetric, a super light and easy grip.
Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a good first knife or something to add to an arsenal; I will definitely be buying more MAC knives!

Great knife for the price. Sharp out of the box, amazingly sharp after a couple swipes on a 10000 stone. My only concern is it is a double sided knife (50-50 bevel)

Culinary knife for cutting vegetables in
rows fast. Put the tip on the table and
slice up and down as you go through long vegetables. Best knife for root vegetables.
The only knife in my knife collection
for cutting vegetables. Vegetables only.
I have knives for meat only too.

So much hype in the marketplace for knives. Stick with known quality. MAC consistently makes great knives that are a secret of chefs around the globe in my experience. Check out what value focused chefs use in professional environments and in their own homes. Perfectly weighted for precise and efficient dispatching of vegetables. Your Mom said; “Eat your Veggies”, your Caddy Daddy says; “Buy the best and forget the rest” in terms of your inside and outside TOOLS. MAC is THE knife!
9102021 Update; Still the BEST vegetable knife available in the wife’s opinion (the cook in the house, I say no more!). Always wash immediately after use and sharpen as necessary. No staining on ours yet. This remains an awesome “kitchen” tool and I know good tools…

So far so good! By far my favorite knife thus far! I’ve been working on replacing all of my cutlery and I’m so stoked about this addition. It’s very sharp! Cuts through meats and veggies like butter.
Be sure to read the directions! Many of the complaints came from improper use of the knife. Directions say acidic foods will tarnish. So no tomatoes, lemons, limes, etc. also it is a wash-by-hand and dry immediately tool. Soaking or dishwasher and air drying will cause problems. So if your more on the lazy side to switch knives or properly care for things (no judgment here depending on the situation I can be the same) this may not be the knife for you. However if your willing to bypass the extra care factor you won’t regret this knife! One of my best purchases yet!!

I bought this knife on a recommendation from Cook’s Illustrated. Chopping veggies can be remarkably challenging with a dull knife, onions especially. I’ve used chef’s knives and Santoku knives in the past, the Santoku being my fave all purpose knife. But this is BY FAR my sharpest and best knife for veggies.
My previous knives have all been stainless steel, and that is the big difference here. The steel in this knife allows it to hold its sharp edge longer, and it can be sharpened more easily than stainless steel as well. However, the trade off is that you do need to care for it, as it WILL stain. Simply run the knife under water after using it on acidic items and wipe clean. Give it a good wash with soap and water by hand when done using it, dry it well, and put away. It’s pretty simple. It’s by far my favorite knife for veggies–I use my other knives for other purposes. I’ve had this knife since 2016, purchased here on Amazon and it still looks like new.
The only thing I didn’t like about this knife when I received it is that it us not a full tang, the steel only goes about half way down the handle, but I have not had any issues with it. That also may keep it lighter in hand, so I’m sure its a trade off. This is NOT a bone and meat cleaver–it is light weight and razor sharp.
